Post your favortie bands from your hometown

I live in Crystal Lake Ill. The Acedemy is... formed in a town 5 miles away (Hoffman Estates) and Fall Out Boy formed 20 miles away in Wilmette.

Also Chicago is 50 miles away so Disturbed and Rise Agaisnt. Wow I just realized I have a really weird taste in music.

Eddie Van Halen is as local as it gets. David Lee Roth went to PCC, and my mom went to a backyard van halen concert.

Well... the only musician from immediately where I live is Marilyn Manson... So I'm gonna go with the second closest and say Devo.

My condolences. I know where you live lol. Although, I probably would have said Chrissy Hynde.

J.J. Cale, Hanson, and The Agony Scene, a mediocre metalcore band.

There is no specific bands I can think of that is from Franklin, Ohio. I heard of one called the Sky Spells War, but based off the talk I've heard from band members, it's probably a mediocre metalcore band. (I'm going to check them out eventually but that's my mind set until I hear them).

God, their isn't any band in my town. The closest big band is from Cleveland, Ohio and that's gotta be NIN.

We've got an ok hardcore scene, but it's only 5 or 6 bands and that means punk shows are always the same bands. But I don't go to the punk shows anymore because a few of my friends in some of those bands betrayed me and I refuse to support them. Oh well.

There's a semi well known band from here called Bludwulf. They tour the country, but they're not huge or anything and are on the verge of breaking up.

As for big names, none I can think of. Ronnie James Dio grew up and started his career about an hour away and some of his earliest shows with Ronnie and the Prophets and Elf were in my city.

I've avoided answering this question because I've expatriated myself from everywhere I lived. But here's it is otherwise, from my 2 hometowns:

Columbus Ohio (where I lived most of my life), two of the bands that made me realize that there was music outside of WNCI:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d4MDb5nRT0
Scrawl

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHEF3I5PaXc
Royal Crescent Mob

In the later 90's, there were a number of other bands I saw live or played with in my own band. Most were rubbish, but here are some exceptions:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5JOiOQ2C0c
The Azoic

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1YQ-qh--Hg
Pretty Mighty Mighty

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMAfKo65nng
Evolution Control Committee

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-nvvdkqu7o
Earwig

Now that I live in New York, I don't go to many live shows.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_InGp8hAmo
Finn's Fury (I was at this show LOL)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlKmgxtOUts
The Fiery Furnaces

That's about it. Although I think I mentioned once that the drummer for Blue Oyster Cult works down the street from me.

The Trews are pretty much the only reasonably well known band (outside my province, anyway) from my hometown.

(my favorite song by them)

The Guess Who
Bachman Turner Overdrive
Neil Young
The Crash Test Dummies
Bif Naked
The Weakerthans
Bob Rock (we know him from the Payola$ but you may know him having something to do with Metallica)

If you're saying my current home town, Kansas is to only noteworthy band to come from this area. If you're talking about my birthplace (Racine, Wisconsin), there is nothing I can think of.

I consider my hometown to be San Diego, California. I don't know any in specific that formed there, but I'm sure there are a billion.

I lived in Vinita, Oklahoma for about 10 years, and Dr. Phil is the only thing anyone knows that we can take credit for.

I moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and lived there for about a year, and we have Hanson and Caroline's Spine! =D Caroline's Spine being the only cool one of the two.

I now live in Akron, Ohio, about another billion awesome bands formed in the area, but I don't know any specifically from Akron.

i consider my hometown all of NW Indiana (which for non Hoosiers is Lake and Porter Counties)

so:

The Crawpuppies (from Crown Point)
and
Michael Jackson & the Jackson 5 from Gary, IN

Devo, Rachel Sweet, James Ingram, The Black Keys, Lux Interior, Marilyn Manson, Jani Lane, Chrissy Hynde, Liam Lynch, Macy Gray, Ruby and the Romantics, and Dominic Frasca are all from Crakron. Of course, most of them are just *from* that area. Almost all of them made it big elsewhere. That whole area's a black hole of culture, and if you can escape to California and form the Cramps or Warrant or whoever, you're considered a hometown superstar.
