View Full Version : Drum Pad Responsiveness

I have a strange problem with my drums: the red pad does not seem to respond 100% of the time to a string of fast hits. Whenever there is a lot of fast red notes in a row, the game only registers some of the hits. It seems as though I have to hit the red pad lightly for it to register those fast consecutive hits. It makes it REALLY hard to beat a song like Run to the Hills on Hard. I think I may have to get a new drumset? If so, how long is that supposed to take?

I think your drumset is busted. Ive heard that it takes around 2 days to get a new one. They ship you a new one and then you ship yours back so you can still play on your broken one while waiting. Just dont forget to send it back or they charge your credit card.

the same exact thing is happening to me.. it hits about 90% of the notes. im not sure what to do.. it works most of the time but it can get pretty annoying. blah. and to make things worst.. my bass pedal snapped in half tonight. :(

I wonder what the charge is for the replacement drum. I might consider requesting a replacement just so that I can have two sets ;)

Well they put $100 hold on a microphone replacement (and charge $125 if not returned). So Drum replacement is at least that if not more.

If your mic goes just go buy a USB mic at any computer store. The rockband mic is not that great of a quality. you can find other usb mics online or buy a really nice mic and get a usb adapter for less than 125 bucks. That seems like a rip off if they charge you 125 bucks for that rockband mic.

This kid made of video of his problem and posted a video link in the general Rock Band forum, I believe it's very similar to y'all's issues.
He apparently fixes it using masking tape and plays that same Metallica DL'ed song nearly flawless on expert 98% w/ 5stars:

So I would try that and tape your pads and experiment with it until you get that optimal responsiveness between stick, pad, and note recognition / responsiveness.
My pads on the other hand cannot be fixed via taping since it's my yellow pad that's now effed and almost dead. I just filled out the EA questionere in the customer support section and they're sending me a replacement kit w/ 2day shipping free of charge! [assuming I send them back the original, damaged kit or else they charge my credit card 100 bucks or so :( ]

Yeah my red pad started doing that yesterday. It worked fine for about 2 days. I'm also getting a replacement sent.

No they don't charge you for any replacements (not even shipping) unless you don't return the defective device. They need a credit card in order to ship you the replacement before receiving the return. If you do it without the credit card they have to receive your defective device before they ship out the replacement.
