View Full Version : 100% on drums???

Has anyone gotten 100% on the drums? The reason I am asking is because I'm hoping the Rock Band drumset is actually capable of this. I've gotten 100% plenty of times...if my pads actually responded 100% of the time. I just have this fear that I'll never have a drumset that repsonds 100% of the time. My set works great when it's working, but it fails to respond enough times in every song to keep me from getting 5 stars most of the time. I've only gotten 5 stars two or three times on medium, even though I know I should have gotten 100%.
Before anyone suggests calibration or that it is me...I go into practice mode and choose a song with a long drumless intro. I can hit twenty or thirty 16th notes on a pad, and at least one or two of them won't pick up. Sometimes in menus, my yellow or blue pad won't respond when selecting songs. So this has nothing to do with timing, it's just the simple fact that sometimes my pad doesn't respond.
I already contacted support and should have my replacement drums by Wednesday or Thursday. Surely they won't send me a set that does the same thing. Please put my mind at ease and let me know if you have a set that responds 100% of the time. In a game like this everything has to respond 100%. I will be sure to let you guys know how my replacement set responds. Also, if anyone reading this gets a replacement set as well, please let us know how it performs.

Some kid posted a video of him getting 100% on a song earlier.
People suggest taping down the red drum so that it is more responsive and you can nail the fast passages.

^A video where you can clearly see the tape.

even on my ****ty set, i've gotten it around six or seven times on multiple songs.
btw that's me in the video, and i got nowhere near 100% in that video, i missed a ton of notes; gonna clean that performance up sometime later.

Yeah, I've watched your video a couple of times. You are definately bad ass. I started playing drums 8 years ago. I haven't played as much as I should have in the last few years so I am not as good as I could be at this point. I've also been playing guitar for 12 years. I'll be looking forward to some videos of you on the new set. I have played ...And Justice for All on expert three times. Failed the first time because it was one of the first songs I played lol. I wanted to see how close it was to real drumming. I passed it both times after that with around 93% I think. The only part I find hard is the double bass part before the solo, but I'll get it down with some practice.
I'm not going to mess with taping my drums. Hopefully my new set will function 100% without tape. Thanks for the reply. It's good to know these drums are capable of 100% lol. I know they should be, but it's just one of those things I need to see to believe.

^ This was the kid who 100%d a song.
I was just showing you that video to try and help you solve your problem of the drumset not responding well enough.

Its a shame it doesn't show as gold stars really. It's easy to forget which ones you've already done.

Yeah. And you get Gold Stars on Guitar with songs you just performed really well on (that you didn't 100%). Makes no sense to me. I 100%'d Suffragette City and was like "Wait, where are my gold stars?"

Gold stars = getting somewhere around 120%. I've only gotten it on one song, because i blew it out of the park on drums, it's not possible on all songs.

It's a score thing. 99% expert will likely give you a gold star. 100% easy more than likely won't.

Has anyone gotten a gold star on a non-expert song in Solo career? I have almost all of expert gold starred, but haven't seen them anywhere else in the game (other than BWT with everyone playing expert).
Thanks.

edit my previous post to say "on guitar". I clearly haven't played all drums on expert with gold stars. :)

got 100% percent on garbage-i think i'm paranoid expert drums ps3. My username is stinkbomb79. Had second place last i checked.
I'm new to the drums and was able to get 100% on Easy playing Say It Ain't So. I guess since it was done on easy its nothing to really brag about but I'm proud of it. Hopefully I'll be able to do it more often and on higher difficulty levels.

I'm pretty sure the gold stars are only on Expert. I got 100% on quite a few songs on guitar on Hard last night, using good Overdrive paths (in my opinion) and not a single gold star was to be found :(

I've gotten quite a few 100% on Hard, and I did unlock my achievement for Flawless Drummer on one expert song, so yes, it -is- possible, even with crappy drums.
My first few 100%s were done with a semi-unresponsive blue pad, and my red one now on the replacement doesn't allow drum rolls (but for some reason, duct tape "patched that situation right up!") Oh, I crack myself up.

Someone should definitely upload some pictures of this mod. I'm going to do this to all my pads if it really helps -- the tom fills sometimes get me, as well as red-pad-heavy songs like "Run to the Hills."

you people have to read...
How do gold stars work?
Gold stars are no longer based on 100% notes hit. They are based on exceptional score. So it is possible to get 100% with bad overdrive usage and not get a gold star. Conversely, with good overdrive usage you can make a mistake or two and still get a gold star. Gold stars are only attainable in expert difficulty. For multiplayer, all band members must be on expert.
