Yeah I'm not so psyched about GH3 anymore.... Maybe if it's released a good 6 weeks prior to Rock Band and the GH3 guitar will definately work on Rock Band... then I MIGHT get it.

**There, fixed :D **

Yea, GH3 is still gonna be awesome unless they just completely sabotage the game. I'll still buy it.

That being said, I think RB is gonna be the better of the two by far. My interest in GH has been swayed a bit because of RB but I'm still very excited about it. Just more excited about effin ROCK BAND!

I'm looking forward to it but not as much. I think battle mode, or whatever its called seems lame. I'm getting it, going to play it and I know I will have a good time with it but Rock Band just seems so much better. I'm waiting on finding out more songs for both of them.

Having seen the previews for Rock Band, it's definitely at the top of my must-have list. This is close to the most psyched I've ever been for a video game.

Guitar Hero 3 has definitely taken a back seat. I'm not checking IGN, Gamespot, and Kotaku everyday looking for Guitar Hero 3 news like I do for Rock Band. Still, the set list for Guitar Hero 3 is shaping up to be incredible and anyone would be foolish to pass up getting the guitar practice and having fun with those songs.

I was under the impression that GH3 was coming out way b4 RB

GH3 has online multiplayer, so it will be my first look at how this kind of game will work online, so yes I will buy it.

Until I get a 360, I'll have to settle for GH3. Not saying it'll be bad, but RB'll be much better.

Not really. I will treasure GH forever and I'll end up buying them both but in the end Harmonix > Guitar Hero.

It's Harmonix that I love moreso than GH. I trust them to put out the best product. My money is always on the people who make the product not the product that makes the people. GH put Harmonix in the radar but even before that I was a Harmonix follower.

Sorry guys but GHIII will have to wait.

I won't be able to get Rock Band for a while (no current gen system except the Wii), so I'll be getting GH3. But, because it's released earlier, I have a feeling that most Rock Band fans will end up getting both

Bang on. I think most people will pick up GH3 prior to RB as a filler to keep them going till the release of RB then once RB is out, " Guitar Hero What?"

I would be interested in GH3, especially for Paint it Black, and Rock You Like a Hurricane..

But I'm too upset over how the 360 version was handled. I thought I was upgrading for the future, but now Rocks the 80s is coming out only on ps2. I still have my ps2 GH's but its the principle of the thing. Of course the DLC fiasco has also dimmed any hope I have for GH3. I'm sure GH3 will be fun, I mean it would be hard to screw up the Harmonix's formula and neversoft is actually a good developer. I do however worry about Activision; they publish too many low quality movie games (Transformers, Spiderman 3, Shrek the Third) which is a pretty good sign they are out to milk money from the fan bases.

I think the nail in the coffin was that I thought RB would be a long ways off, but then E3 time came and Rock band totally owned GH3 in basically all the news and previews. I was shocked that it seems RB had been developed faster (maybe Neversoft is struggling with lack of experience in the genre, NOBODY does rhythm games like Harmonix). I thought RB totally seized the day, and the news kept coming: Downloadable albums and Metallica.

I posted on the GH boards that I thought the only response big enough to put GH3 in front would be the ability to import mp3's which would be analyzed and made into songs.

In the end I think there is room for both games, but right now my money looks to be going to Rock Band. I just hope that the competition doesn't lead to a bunch of exclusive song licensing deals so you have to buy both to get songs, eg. I hope RB can land Paint it Black and Rock You Like a Hurricane.

I didnt like most of the songs for GH 1, I liked a good number of songs in GH 2, so hopefully GH 3 will have some killer tracks...and I mean, you get to play as Slash, how cool is that?

Rock Band will no doubt own any GH ever made.

I wonder if there will ever be a Techno Hero for those of us who like techno and trance...? It could have a controller similar to Beatmania's controller.

Seriously. I will be picking up both. Rock Band is going to be a whole new experience again. With learning the drums and what-not. So RB will be the first one I pick up. But I'm still eager to see how GHIII will pan out. I'm very interested in the boss battles and little extra goodies in there. I am a little leary of NVRSFT working on it. Only time will tell.

Its obvious though that RB is going to be the supreme title. How many of you are already gearing up to start a National tour?! :)

I think people would be lying if they said they didn't care. But of course Rock Band > GH3.

Essentially, Rock Band's solo guitar career mode IS guitar hero. Especially that RB will have head to head player vs player as well.

The only thing GH3 that makes it unique is it's tracklist, and their subpar mediocre battle mode. Which I, and many others, are not fans of. Watching the E3 demo with the G4 guy playing against the RedOctane guy, I timed how long the song actually lasted: approx. 45seconds of a 3-4min song. And these 2 guys are obviously not crappy players. One's a lead designer, and Kevin (G4 host) obviously plays on Expert.

Seriously, how is anyone going to be able to play, when one "power up" causes you to not even be able to see the notes. There's no skill involved, just bulls*** luck apparently. And you don't even have to hit a string of notes to get these powerups.

I have no desire to get the new GH3 guitar (just use the Xplorer), and I'll probably just rent the game, beat it, and return it. My online playing time will be well occupied with Rock Band for the next year and a half easily.

Rock Band is gonna bury GH3 into the ground :D

EDIT: I forgot to mention the boss battles. Which is a great idea. But again, character creation and customization is greater than that too! :)

I'm excited about all of the games and I'd love to play all of them. Since I don't own any of the consoles it will be my friends' choice, mostly, what we will buy. Best friend wants to get the wii, and then we'll see what's out by the time he can afford it.

It's a shame..but GH3 means crap to me now....i'm not even gonna buy it since the unveiling of Rock Band....it's just...it's like buying a souped up version of one career mode with more songs..and with Rock Band releasing new albums and songs weekly...GH3 can't even stand up to it

Rock Band has really cast a shadow on GH III for me. While I'll still end up getting the game, I am not that excited for it anymore, and I really don't search for information and news on it like I do daily with Rock Band. To me GH III is like a step back from Rock Band at this point. I love GH but it has been replaced by something better now.

The look of GHIII is total crap, and is really jarring and in your face. Not to mention they made Judy look like a steroid-shooting thunder-slut. Besides, if the bands signed on to provide music for it were hip and in-the-know, they would have signed to RB instead. :p

There's one thing that can save guitar hero 3 now and I dont think they're gonna go for it. the only thing that will make GHIII worth buying is shred just make it all shred since Rock Band wont do that cuz they have to have singing and drums and stuff just make it all Satch, Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Paul Gilbert's new album, Yngwie, Howe, Vernon Reid's solo album, Buckethead, Billy Sheehan. Basically what I'm saying is have it be G3 instead of GHIII sorry that joke sucked

Ya I agree with you for the most part I'm not digging the look too much of the characters or the gameplay, but as long as the music is good I'll end up buying it and I have to say I kinda like the battle mode because, my friends who all suck might actually beat me for once

This was my point about the battle mode. It no longer requires skill, but simple luck. It's too arcade-ish. You don't need the skill to play the song, just hit certain notes that are power ups and use them over and over again. The song is done in 30 secs.

True, but I know that nobody is even remotely close to being able to beat me at least in my town. This will give them a shot of actually winning, regardless of skill. The fact that both people get powerups make it even anyways and im sure you can turn it off.

Im still psyched for GH3. hell, I still play GH2 all the time. It'll tide me over for the few weeks before rockband hits.

Character Creation is in GH III also.

I really don't know about this. Can you show me a link confirming this? I've looked everywhere to see this confirmed. As far as I know, it's the same characters as before: Axel Steel, Johnny Napalm, Judy Nails, etc. Nothing ever mentioned about character creation.
They seem more involved with the super terrific customization you can do to your guitar as opposed to your character.

I believe both games will be amazing, even though it will take some getting used to seeing the characters we all grew to love in Guitar Hero change so much. Rock band is going to blow us all away and cannot fairly be compared to Guitar Hero. Guitar Hero is like Archie Manning, and Rock Band is Peyton Manning. Without Archie there is no Peyton, but they were still both good players. :D
