OK all. Here is the fix. I confirmed it last night. Its the bass petal. Must be shorting out the controller. Try this. I did it and my drums are working perfect now. No disconnect of controller message and no missed notes.

Go to Radio shack. By a male to female 1/4" to 1/8 inch mono adapter. Connect your Rockband original bass petal (or after market. I have a Rhythm maker by Blockhead) in place of the Ion pedal. All the problem go away. I also mounted the controller as far away from the frame as possible but I dont think was part of the problem.

I will be sending Ion a tech email so they know the problem. I DO want a new. working pedal from them.

Hope this helps! Merry Christmas! Rock on! The Ion set is NOW awesome!!!

I have problems with disconnects as well, and it seems it's related to static electricity building up on the pads.

For instance, my drums will disconnect during play and after they reconnect I'll run my hand over the drum pad. I'll feel the static electricity discharge and then the controller will disconnect again.

The problem seemed to go away after a few days, then came back again (along with the static) when I moved the kit to another house.

Shrug.

I received my kit yesterday and started using it right away. After about an hour of use it disconnected and then did it periodically. My daughter was running around me and touching my back, but I really wasn't paying attention to her. After putting my kids to bed I played for well over an hour without a single disconnect. My dog of all things walked up to me while a was playing and touched her nose against my arm and "zapped" me. The drum set immediately disconnected. After that no one touched me and the drum set was fine. Very frustrating at first, but once I figured it out it made sense. My concern is damage to the kit or my PS3. Static electricity is hard to prevent during with winter on a carpeted floor.

My kit (PS3) showed up Tuesday and was disconnecting by Wednesday. I put a ferrite bead on the pedal cable, which didn't help. I sprayed the floor down with a mixture of water and fabric softener to disperse the static, which helped for a bit.

Then I noticed that the disconnect was occurring when the pedal was fully depressed. Upon closer inspection, the adhesive that holds the rubber end on the metal tab that activates the switch within the pedal had let go, leaving a sticky metal tab exposed. I secured the flap back onto the tab and haven't had any problems since.

It may very well be static, time will tell.

My Drum Rocker has been disconnecting as well, and I gotta say for as much as I love the thing, that random disconnect will totally ruin my streak as well as everyone playing, but most of all it's a buzz kill to everyone who's playing. Anyone who has any insight into this it would be much appreciated. I had used my drum rocker for about 4 months with no issues and then just recently it started disconnecting the controller about once a night. The drums do conduct a lot of static, but that seems unlikely to me as I had literally no problems whatsoever until just about 2 weeks ago.

Reading the original post and based on my experience so far, I believe it has to be static. It never happened with either my RB1 or RB2 drum set, but that had a plastic bass pedal as you know. I stopped at K-Mart and grabbed a clear vinyl non-slip mat and velcro. I am going to try velcroing the pedal to the vinyl mat. I will post the results tonight.

try putting those static sheets that u use in the dryer under your pedal. It seems to be working for me...

What worked for me on this one was to put an uncarpeted rubber floor mat (I used the one from my truck) under my other foot; for me, that's my left foot. The kick pedal's still on the carpet. I don't know why this worked--maybe it's because the rubber mat "grounds" me when I'm playing now.

I ran a wire from the front screw hole (where the spikes used to go) to the back of a nearby PC, and I haven't disconnected once since then. Remember, the wire has to be connected to something that's connected to an electrical/earth ground.

Most pc repair shops sell a static wrist strap.. You can easily modify the strap to fit around your ankle, then you can attach the other end to the frame of your kit. That way you would be grounded to your kit with no chance of static discharge.

I did this and it took care of my problems too!

I originally sent my controller back to Ion and they replaced it (after about 3 months). The new one exhibited the same disconnecting problems as the original.

I tried everything people said on here to no avail. Lastly, I reconnected my original RB kick pedal with a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter and ZERO disconnecting problems...even back directly on carpet again.

Thanks for the idea PianoMan. I did not have a nearby computer and connected the wire to the drum stand instead. Strangely enough it worked although the stand is not connected to earth ground.

I think mine might have this problem too, is it possible for somebody to post a picture of a close-up of what this tab is SUPPOSED to look like so that I know what I might have to do to fix it? Thanks.

I've never had this problem, but then again I threw away that crappy drum pedal that comes with the ION kit after about a half hour of playing with it. It's a high-hat pedal, not a bass pedal. I have my Omega pedal hooked up with a 1/4" to 1/8" mono adapter, will also work with your original Rock Band pedal.

I just started having this problem last week, but then again, I haven't played much since winter started, and I got my IONs last spring, so the static idea makes a lot on sense.
I guess it really IS time to dump the crappy hi-hat pedal in favor of a real bass pedal...

Just got my ION set last night and right away it was having this issue, after checking here this was my solution.

Cut up about 2 feet of an old electrical power cord, strip about 2 inches off each end and wrap one end around the on eof the screw pins in the base of the peddle and the other duct tape the frame.

I have had an issue with the controller not working with the PS3 when you hit the PS button to go back to the PlayStation Control Menu. However if you pull out the plug for the bass peddle, it works just fine.

Can anyone help me find a male to female 1/4" to 1/8 inch mono adapter on Amazon? I can only find Stereo adapters. Trying to use this as a quick fix till I can get a new Kick Pad.

I also had this issue with my ions. turned out to be static electricity. I always use drums on carpet to keep them from walking away from me. My solution was simple. Before I start playing I spray drum area on carpet with anti-static spray. No problems since. :D

Despite the spam from the mohawk idiot, thanks to everyone else for the info and clues as to why my drums were disconnecting.

I think I may have a new problem now, though, with the 360 freezing up randomly, and only during RB games with the drums plugged in. I think it's a USB power issue.
