...and it was awesome. Some of you have heard that I had been planning a 30th birthday party with Rock Band as the featured entertainment, but that due to some family issues, it was in jeopardy of happening. We went ahead w/ it and had an absolute blast. A couple small complaints in that our opening set had to be broken up into a 3 song set followed by a 2 song set, because I couldn't find a 'make a setlist' gig for five songs. I'm sure there is one there somewhere, but we just didn't find it in time. Oh well, it actually worked out well since during our third song of the opening set, Enter Sandman, my strat strum bar broke causing my bass player to fail out, followed by a total failure right at the end of the song. Oddly enough, it was kinda fun that way, having the real-life crowd boo us in addition to the video game crowd, all of us pointing at the bassist and *****ing him out. We then 'fixed' our equipment, by having him up-strum for the last two songs, and we rocked them out hard. I believe we filmed it, so I'll have to make sure we get it uploaded to youtube.

After our set, it was free play for all, and everyone had a blast w/ that. Folks of all ages tried it out, and everyone picked it up very quickly. We even payed the bartender to stay for an extra hour so more people could get time to play.

so thank you Harmonix...you made for one memorable night and a GREAT 30th birthday...

Ouch, sorry for your strum bar. Sounds like you had a good time though regardless. :D

I would have thought that broken strum bar would have been a buzz kill for most people, but it's good that you were able to put it behind you and still have fun.

Quick Off-Topic question since both an Admin and a Mod replied here showing avatars

How much $ would it cost me to get my avatar back where it should be? :D
I do not have the proper permissions to set or even pick an avatar.

On-topic again
The live boos are priceless.

Yah, if it would have been the guitarist who had the broken instrument we probably would have been screwed, but thankfully he preferred the Les Paul. The bassist was able to switch to up-strumming and we lost very little time for our opening set. After that we went to my buddy's back-up strat, and as far as I know it survived the night just fine.

Congrats to the Togfather! Now post your performances on YouTube so we can all enjoy. :D

(Wah, I want avatars back, too! Even if enforced JPG compression mauled mine...)

Awesome man, glad things worked out. Sounds like it was a great time. It was at a bar, eh? Any stories of drunken RB to share?
