Living up here in the Great White North I have not yet purchased Rock Band , but I am more anxious for it than any other game ever. I have read every thread on the strumming, and bass pedal issues and I am in shock that Harmonix has not yet responded. Really its unfathomable with this many issues that they have not at least even issued a statement. I am seriously thinking about cancelling my two pre-orders both from EBGames and and then wait and see if the peripherals improve and purchase them seperately, as well as the game. It's a real shame that EA/Harmonix chose to cut corners in the manufacturing process. What do some of you think I should do?
Thanks and keep rocking (with your 360 xplorers that is)!

Sean usually makes announcements at the end of the day.

I think for something as serious as this he should make an exception!

If I had to guess, I would say they are still watching the EA replacement requests so they can look at the broken parts and see why they failed. We will see, and yes, I hope there is an announcement soon.

Don't be too surprised if we don't hear a statement from them at all. With class action lawsuits getting tossed around likes footballs these days, and lawyers who can't wait to jump on anything they can, companies are far less likely to admit wrong-doing of any kind. It's not that they don't feel bad, because they do in most cases, but their in-house legal teams will often tell them to keep their mouths shut and stay off message boards.
It's possible we'll hear something from them, but I wouldn't count on it.
Oh... and before you think I'm some kind of plant from Harmonix or EA, I too have a broken guitar and drum kit. ;)

I love how people are shocked because Harmonix hasn't said anything when Activision/Neversoft/Red Octane have not said anything about their faulty guitars and it's been ooooh two days short of a month since Guitar Hero 3 was released. Relax guys.

In that case, everyone who has purchased need to make as much noise as possible. Call your local news station, newspaper, email all the gaming websites (IGN, Gamepro, Gamespot, Gamespy etc.), Basically, get the word out and they will have no choice but to do something. I am seriously reconsidering my purchase of this game.

a broken product is a broken product. My guess is they knew the products were shoddy but they were too far along to make changes. Hence the paper warning about returns. If they recalled all the controllers prior to release the cost would have been more than if they simply let them go as planned. Not everyone is going to replace them and a good chunk of customers are going to void warranties by playing Mr. Fixit

I don't understand what that would help. I promise that IGN and other sites already know about it, since it's gone up on both Kotaku and Joystiq. Those sites aren't going to be too quick to post about it though, since EA pays them all a ton of money in ads. Calling your local news station and newspaper? Why? Even if a news station cared to post about a few thousand people having issues with instruments during a busy holiday season (let's not foget that they have to cram in stories on Britney, shopping, Britney, and Brangelina), will having a piece about it done on the local news really matter?
It sucks, but this crap happens. I was so mad when my drums broke that I wanted to throw the entire thing out the window. However I'm being the good little boy scout and waiting until I get replacements. Of course... if they wind up breaking as well, then I will stand arm in arm with you on the steps of DC, torches in hand, and demand something be done.

Just a warning, don't buy it until it's out in Canada. WHEN it breaks (and it will) you won't be able to get a replacement part until it's officially out in Canada (whichever century that happens to be in).

Well why bother with bugging good ol EA when you can go to your local store and exchage it, I've done it 2 times now, I'm on my 3rd Rock Band and Best Buy didn't say anything when I took it back the last time.

Because your Best Buy has the same type of hardware that failed on you in the first place. I'd rather give EA the chance to give me rev2 (maybe rev3+?) hardware than take the same crap-shoot as before. But to each his own.

Not to mention that packing everything back up, driving to BB, driving home, then re-unpacking the whole thing takes way more of your time and effort than just waiting a few days for a replacement to arrive.
I ordered my guitar replacement on Friday and got it Monday. Pretty darn fast, if you ask me.

It's pretty obvious they knew this was coming, given the bright pink notice about how to return faulty instruments.
