View Full Version : Drum double hits = broken streak

For those that may be having problems keeping hit streaks alive on the drums, I've discovered something I was doing wrong that would often break my streaks.

While hitting the snare, I would usually hit the drum but keep the stick either on the drum or nearby. The problem is that the drums are sensitive enough that oftentimes, if I just tried to let the stick stop on the pad, there is sometimes a quick bounce that registers a second hit, thus breaking the streak. The second hit is usually so fast that you can't even really differentiate it by the game's sounds, but it is present. This was really frustrating as I swore I was hitting the rhythm correctly, and couldn't figure out at the time why the streak was being broken.

Once I determined that I was getting the bounce hit, I changed the way I hit the drums and now my streaks are much, MUCH longer leading to 5 stars and higher scores.

I hope this helps others that may be having the same issue.

The problem I'm having with drums and streaks is the kick pedal.

1) I can't find a comfortable place for it.
2) The kick feeling isn't quite pronounced enough.

Other than that it's great. The good way outweighs the bad.

But yes, the pads are very sensitive - which is a good thing if you're a timid player. :)

Proper drumming technique states you should let your sticks bounce off the drum, instead of "burying" them into the drum. This should prevent you from getting double hits and improve your abilities overall.

Yup, precisely what I learned on my own. Good to know a little more on proper technique!
