Michael Jackson 'needs a lung transplant'

Michael Jackson is supposedly in need of a lung transplant because he is suffering from alpha-1 anti-trypsin deficiency, emphysema, and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding, his biographer has claimed.

Biographer Ian Halperin claimed that the singer, recently pictured using a wheelchair, has gone half-blind as a result of his ailments, and that they could see his demise.

Halperin told Britain's The Sun, "He needs a lung transplant, but may be too weak to go through with it. He also has emphysema and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding, which his doctors have had a lot of trouble stopping. It's the bleeding that's the most problematic part. It could kill him. He can barely speak. The vision in his left eye is 95 percent gone."

Jackson's brother Jermaine is quoted as saying, "He's not doing so well right now. This isn't a good time."

Wow, that does suck. I grew up in the early 90's listening to his music and loving it...though granted things haven't been great for the guy at all in the past 13 years or so, it would suck he would go out like this (if he doesn't make a recovery).

I see what you are saying, but beneath all of the controversy, I think many people are forgetting that MJ is more than some pop star... he's a person. Sure, the entertainment industry won't change, since he hasn't put much out in the past decade, but it does suck for him.

i heard this on the radio, i was like"wtf", because MJ is one of the most talented singers. A lot of people are still hung up on the stuff that went on in the past, which i find to be a lie, and they dont appreciate his talent. those people suck

There are a ton of people out there in worse condition than him that get 0 sympathy from the masses b/c they aren't famous. I think he's a pedophile, but I wouldn't wish this on him, but truthfully he has a better chance of getting a transplant than a guy who no ones heard of that does all they can to help people. Regardless, even if what he did was true (He was never convicted of anything), I would not wish this kind of suffering on the man and his family.

The man was/is very talented, and if he had just returned to making music without all of the strangeness (Neverland, Bubbles, Colour Change, etc), he would have made some amazing albums.

I still count his years at the top (the "Off The Wall", "Thriller" and "Bad" years) as the best that pop music has ever put out after the demise of The Beatles.

My condolences go out to Michael and all of his family on this horrible turn of events.

While you are quite correct, I would argue here that there is no looking for sympathy from the masses.

Instead, this is the reporting of a story. It'll probably generate the same amount of sympathy as the story of a boy who has a similar condition. The only difference is that it will be broadcast worldwide instead of locally (actually, this story is already quite dated as one of the Canadian news networks reported this about 2 weeks ago (I remember sending my mother the link)).

Let's all be honest here for a second. If Michael Jackson was just some random guy with lots of money who invited little kids to sleep in his bed, people would be screaming for him to be lynched.

And if it came out later that he was dying most people would think he's getting what he deserves.

Because he's a pop megastar and a lot of people are fans they give him alot more slack. None of us know this guy personally, so none of us can speak to his character from a first hand perspective. But you'd have to be pretty blind to not see he has some serious psychological problems.

I grew up in the 80's watching Beat It and Thriller on MTV in the days that they still played music videos... We may never know for sure if that controversy that surrounded him had any truth behind it. We do know that he was found not guilty by a Jury, and I like to hope and think that he was innocent. I hope that he finds a donor and pulls through. He is a person who lived a very ***ked up childhood, and I wish him the best. (assuming that he didn't molester any children)

There really is not enough evidence to say with certainty that he actually molested that children. He definitely has some odd views about children... but I don't think they are sexual. I think people just make way too many assumptions about him.
