hello jammer. i see you on-line :)
Hey Sticky, yes I had a little down time during the day and I decided to take on the ESL again.I don't know what time it was in Italy but I usually play 12 hours later in the day.I think your 6 hours ahead of most of us,so you would have to start playing at 2am to see us online. That's tough.
Well chalk up another gold member of the Old Man Band! :D
I was slow playing my way through, playing a bunch of songs here and there.(thank god you can pause it)
Had to do Visions twice but other than that it went pretty smooth.
Now I look a whole lot cooler than I actually am!:p

Nice jammer. One of these days I'm going to have to try to get one of those nifty icons. I think I could swing a gold on both guitar and drums, but I'm gonna have to practice Visions a while first. Even on Hard that song is ridiculous.

It sure is. I passed it on Hard for the first time yesterday morning and happened to have the day free, so.... I'm shiny now. It still took me a half dozen cracks to find the tempo in the noise and put that so-called "song" down like the dog it is. After beating that nightmare Panic Attack and Painkiller felt (almost) like cakewalks. I maintain that the key to the ESL for old farts like us is to play the first 30 or 40 as lazily as you possibly can. I wanted to get as many 5*s as possible, but once I hit 5* on a lot of songs I'd slack back to only hitting kick and red, or only playing the beat at half speed, or cutting whatever else I could cut and still pass. Other than that trick I think I took only 2 short bathroom breaks and one long dinner break.

Alek, we've got 21 DLC in common not counting the free ones, so that's not bad. I just added you. You can find my FC and DLC list at http://dlcquickplay.com/user/cwilbur
Oh, and BTW, the ESL doesn't take 18 hours - it's right around 6 hours 15 minutes if you don't take breaks and don't fail. You could stop in the middle, sleep all night, get up and finish in the morning and finish in less than 18 hours :)

So I went to try Visions on Guitar and good gravy!! I sorta got the hang of the first minute or so, and then the speed doubled and I went down in flames. How did you beat that Jammer? Do you alt strum while switching frets on the insanely fast part?
The good news is I beat it on drums without too much difficulty. Actually, I passed it first try once I enabled breakneck speed. (BNS on Hard is great, moves you up to Expert speed) So if I can find 6 free hours (not likely) I'll try to grab a shiny icon.

Hey, I accepted on dlcquickplay. :D Having friends on dlcquickplay will be handy if/when you get some DLC. Having friends makes it easier to compare the songs you have in common.
Chuck, how do you like Sort Of?! It's my new favorite drum chart.
I couldn't get my better half interested in any of the SSPU this week - the only song she wanted was The Game so we have that.
I just watched part of a chart video - how are you sticking that BBBBBRRB part? All the blue on the right hand and the red on the left? Or RLRLRLLR to avoid crossing left over to the last blue? It looks to me like the kind of chart that would give me fits while I tried to work that out...

Yeah, that part's messing with me. It's actually BBBBRRB. If it was 5 B's to start, it'd be easier. Chris (SSPU drummer) is a open-handed style lefty and does lots of crossovers so his drumming often doesn't fit the usual patterns. He usually hits the crash with his left hand for one thing.
How I'm doing it right now is a bit messy. I am not that comfortable starting rolls with my left hand, so I've been starting it with my right, not even playing the 4th blue, and then I hit R-L-R on the RRB at the end. So yeah, my pattern is R-L-R-skip-R-L-R. I break my streak constantly, but I survive. :D
I want to do it this way though: start with left hand on tom roll, double tap the snare with my left hand, and then use right to hit the last blue. Just have to get the hang of starting off with the left, which I do already in certain songs, but it feels weird here for some reason. That will be L-R-L-R-L-L-R.
Check out the last 30 seconds of panic switch for some really messed up sticking.

Hey everybody,
I know I haven't been on RB much the past few days, but I'm hoping to make up for it tomorrow (Sunday). Jen's going to some womanly musical with a bunch of womenfolk and leaving me home alone on my 39th birthday, so I expect to be on RB, skype & HB's chat as much of the day as I can manage. Come by and help me celebrate RB-style.

Hey jammer -- been a while. I picked up "Bold as Love", "Valleys of Neptune", "Castles Made of Sand", and "She's So Fine" from Hendrix. All are terrific on guitar, of course.
I also highly recommend the Anberlin and Switchfoot tracks from this week. TFK is pretty good too.

Hi Guys,
I am a 57 year old who plays hard drums on both Beatles and RB2. I usually play with my daughter (expert guitar/bass), but she will be heading off to college soon, and I still need to feed my RB addiction. I would appreciate being added by you folks, particularly those with extensive DLC. I have all (or almost all) of the Beatles stuff, and about 180 RB2 DLC (heavily weighted towards Classic Rock). Please....no Metal fans.
Thanks.

Hi Roy, I'll be happy to add you. Are you on dlcquickplay.com or anything? I'm curious to see your DLC choices. You're about the same age as my father-in-law, and his taste also leans heavily to The Beatles and the classics, but he can't stand most of the music I like to play in RB. How do you feel about 90's-era grunge? ;-)
I am definitely not a Metal fan, but I do like a lot of hard rock & punk as long as the vocalist actually has talent.

I've noticed variation of calibration-sweetness with online play, too.
Some friends I play with cause a skew of my calibration (on bass) while
others are *always* fine. Don't know what causes this. Hard
to get right, for sure.

This seems like a good opening to announce that I just did exactly that.
For those that have been wondering why I've been scarce for the past few weeks, I've been building this:
http://lh3.ggpht.com/_EqUtdg65N6E/TDntdS3ADfI/AAAAAAAAArA/I_a7heOCPiA/s640/RockDen.JPG
It's still not quite done (note how the drums have no cymbals yet, and I don't have a high def cable to connect the box and the TV yet, and my DLC so far is kinda puny, and I haven't upgraded to xbox live gold yet, and....:o), but by next week I'll probably be migrated fully to the box.
So for the few remaining wii regulars around here (Jammer, Clare, John, Mark...?) if you see this, I'm gonna try to be on the wii a bunch this week to play final sets with you guys. If you know a time you'll be on leave a response here and I'll try to jam with you. Gonna miss all of ya.

Welcome Chuck :) I also wanted to share that I think Chuck got an xbox Gamertag and added MS points to it to buy the DLC on sale before he got the xbox? (Correct me if I am wrong Chuck). So, if any of you were thinking about it, but can't afford the xbox right now, you could do the same - buy the DLC now, and download to xbox at some time in the future when you have the xbox. The sale ends tomorrow. :)

Welcome Chuck :) I also wanted to share that I think Chuck got an xbox Gamertag and added MS points to it to buy the DLC on sale before he got the xbox? (Correct me if I am wrong Chuck).
I did get the gamertag before the xbox, and set up my credit card info on it (OMG is it sick easy to buy more points and get more DLC whenever you want on the box - dangerous dangerous stuff), but I wasn't quite ready to trust that going ahead with the buying online would work right when I got the box. So when I went to buy my new monster TV on Saturday I threw an xbox in the cart and added points and bought DLC using that after I got it set up.
From what I've seen of the slick integration between xbox.com and the GT stuff on the box, I bet it would work, though. I was worried mostly about the security when tying the gamertag to the new box, but it had me enter my Windows Live ID and password and stuff on the box so it was as secure as most anything can be online.
I haven't tried queueing up downloads on xbox.com to dump to the box yet. I should go try that now...

Although I was never technically an OMB'er (too young by a couple of years :D), I always enjoyed jamming with you Chuck. I'll be on RB2 tonight if you want to play some huge Rush set lists or maybe some Sweetness and Light (nobody's gonna have that on XBox either I bet :P).

Another sad moment in Wii RB2 history, but xbox gains a truly fun drummer.I will miss the Den Of Sin for sure..great times!! I've been pretty scarce lately too.I'm up for one more Thirsty Thursday session if your free,C?? It would be nice to pull everybody out of the woodwork for a last blast.:D
"truly fun drummer". I'm touched.
I was even gonna make that my sig but quoting the source and/or links aren't allowed in the sig
I don't think I'll be available Thursday as that's supposed to be date night for me and the better half. :(
I've blocked out tomorrow (Wednesday) night for my final set with Clare but if you're around then we might let you join in for a bit....

Welcome to the light side Chuck. Like taking off a band-aid, it hurts at first but with RB3 around the corner now is the time or you're just going to be going further down the hole. I know this isn't the place for it but since HB opened the door to RB deals (and she pretty much rulez this place), Amazon has 1600 point cards on sale today. That will help with the sting a little.

LMAO - thanks Mega! BTW- why haven't we played yet?
Anyway, the deal is for both the 1600 points and 4000 points cards:
1600 points card reduced from $19.99 to $16.54 (http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Live-1600-Points/dp/B000B9RI14/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1279126416&sr=8-1)
4000 points card reduced from $49.99 to $45.54 (http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Live-4000-Points/dp/B000NDRT62/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1279126416&sr=8-2)
Thanks for bringing that to my attention. God knows I need more DLC (http://dlcquickplay.com/user/honeybeeslhb). :p

I hear ya lady, life's been in the way - haven't played with anyone since I got my Xbox (I know, I KNOW). Partly just working through Lego/DLC (still got about 50 songs or so I haven't played yet) and partly enjoying some of the other offerings Xbox has (Batman: AA, Bioshock, Mass Effect 1&2). Hopefully things will get less crazy and I'll get back into the community, you'll be the first to know.
Anyway, to keep with my shopping mojo - rumor has it that RB:GreenDay will be on sale @ BestBuy next week for $39.99 (all 3 systems, assuming standard version). Not a big GD fan but I'm always up for new songs & it's coming into a price range I can work with. Any reviews?

Okay, this children (I'm a friend of some old people! Don't hurt me!) is gonna give a review for you. I thought Green Day: Rock Band was an awesome game, for all instruments. The guitar is a little chordy but still mostly fun, but it's definitely fun for bassists; Mike Dirnt played some awesome basslines. Drummers are in for a challenge here and vocals is just plain fun. I would definitely recommend it, especially at that price :)
Oh by the way, blame little HB over there for making me come to the old people thread :p

I think the first xbox DLC I bought might have been the complete Boston pack. Already got the complete Cars album too :D
Sorry I missed your finale, I haven't been playing that much since I came back after a couple months off.
My finale wound up being me and Clare playing for about 3 hours and picking lots of songs about breakups and loss...
I'm still on Wii unless I get a Box that fell off a truck or something
I know you saw this over at HB's forum, John, but I'm gonna repost it here for a bigger audience. I'm trying not to evangelize (because I know the xbox evangelizers drove me nuts six months ago when they were all migrating), just explain why they evangelize in terms clearer than "It's just so much better! Get eet!"
One of the reasons I resisted moving was because I couldn't seem to get anyone to give me clear answers on why the box is so much better, other than graphics (which I really don't care about that much for RB) and RBN (which was tempting bait when it came out, but not enough by itself). In just a few days of getting set up, taking advantage of the DLC sale, remaking a couple characters, and playing a few really easy songs, I've already got a clear list for hesitant wii-sters to consider:
The RB instruments are for-real first class controllers. Every day sitting down at the wii I have to dig out a wiimote to press A, choose RB, press Start, and pass the stupid "don't hurt yourself with the wiimote" screen. Then I put it down and never touch it again and drive from the drums. On the box I can power up the console by turning on the drums and never touch the controller that came with the console. It's really convenient by comparison.
Downloads are done as background processes. I can't be the only one who gets driven mad by having to babysit DLC downloads on the wii. "I'm done downloading!" A. "I'm done moving to the SD card!" A. "I'm done refreshing the DL list!" A. "Look at me! Another pointless message for you!" A! A!A!A!AAAAAAAAAAA! Leave me alone and do your damn job you stupid machine! On the box not only do you NOT have to respond to pointless messages (definition of pointless: the only choice is to press A), you can start a download and go back to playing or tweaking your avatar (it's like a mii) or whatever.
xbox.com integration. This is on a thin line between awesomely-convenient and deadly-to-your-wallet. Related to how downloads work above, you can go shopping on xbox.com from your web browser and the next time you fire up the console anything you bought will quietly start downloading and give you a little notification (which does NOT require you to press A to dismiss) when it's done.
Online friend notifications. Another task I won't miss is making repeated trips back to the Invite Friends screen to see if any new players have turned up. xbox pops up a notification (kind of like the one you get from RB when you get an invite) when anyone on your friends list comes online.
Also, the thought of FINALLY getting to play all the RB1 songs, and finally being able to play some all-one-band setlists (like a Petty one including Free Fallin and the DLC or a Bon Jovi one with Wanted, Prayer, and You Give Love) has me all giddy. Just getting all my songs in one place I think will be worth the price of admission.
At this point pretty much all my fears about moving have been put to rest. The only advantage I can still give to the wii is the free online play, but to get that on the box is only fifty bucks a year (and apparently gives you access to sales on a few downloads occasionally so you can make a little of it back).
Also, I discovered that xbox instruments draw more current than wii instruments, which means they probably eat batteries faster. Not that I care :D (http://docsrockbandmods.netforums.us/viewtopic.php?t=3697)

San Diego where Top Gun was filmed is my home town. I've been to Mira Mar several times for airshows. I've also been to the restaurant that was the pilots hangout. It is WAY smaller in person. I don't know how they made it look so big in the movie.

That's alright,it was pretty dead Thurs.anyways.Although I did find Clare on RB2 for a "switch instrument" set. What a blast !!! Although it's kind of dangerous being the vocalist on a thirsty Thurs.,all that free time with your hands during songs makes for a pretty hazy Fri. morning..:D

Haha!! "Plastered" haven't heard that in a while,I'll switch to vocals in that condition :D
Lag has always been somewhat of an issue at my place, don't understand it though.I have a broadband connection,I play wireless, but it's weird. Sometimes it's just enough to throw off HOPO's,sometimes it's completely crazy, and other times it's perfect.I'll be doing random sub-ins and doing great, then I'll get an invite, switch over, play the same song and you'd think it was the first time I've played.I've noticed it's more prevalent with certain people but most the time it's a crap shoot. It never happens on TBRB though,I'm thinking that has something to do with the amount of people on the server though. It's funny though when I'm really messing up you should hear me,my wife thinks I'm losing it..."Are you alright???Do we need an intervention here???":p

1) Can anyone catch me up on rb3 for the wii? I can't find out much info for us.
and B.. I quit playing for a bit and now that I've started back up I notice my yellow and blue pads keep screwing up. At first I figured that I was just rusty from not playing... but it's not that. Everytime there are 10 or so hits on either one...they either drop notes or get double hits. It doesn't happen all the time either, so maybe the connection? Has anyone had this happen and have you been able to fix it?

hi all
i'm relativly new to rock band and as i'm 48 this seemed a good place to put my first post.I,m looking for people who like to play just for fun.i mainly play drums and guitar but i can play bass if needed though i haven't done much of it.i have one small problem however i haven,t got the skill levels as the vast majority of people i have seen here have.
my levels are
drums-easy
gutiar/bass - medium
vocals- non existant
i've had tbrb for a couple of months now and completed it to my levels i've also done legorb though of course this has no online play.i got rb2 yesterday and completed a couple of venues i also got hold of 15 dlc songs mainly 70/80 queen police blondie and such like.so if you like to play just for fun and don't mind having an inexperienced and lower level drummer or guitarist in a group please add me as a freind

I dunno when "soon" is, but when it gets here I recommend Drowning Pool - "Bodies" for a sick pile of headbanging fun. The only other song I have out of that list is the Lacuna Coil one and it's not as good as their two songs in the regular store IMNSHO.

I'm looking for some online band members. I'm like playing at the limit of my skill (it's the only way to get better), so occasionally fail, but mostly not. I play Hard on guitar mostly.
I play for fun, so if you take it too serious, I'm not a band member for you.
I'm a big Bon Jovi and Jonathan Coulton fan, but I'll play anything, and have a lot of DLC (mostly classics)
I have RB2 and GD song packs too.
I play some evenings and weekends (UK time)
If this all sounds good to you, add me, details in the signature.

Hey guys, I've got RB3 now and have been playing about 2-3 nights a week. I like a lot of the new songs and features. Online play is more confusing than on RB2 but I'm managing.
Have the import for RB2 done so now I've got about 300+ songs. If they ever get RB1 import working that would be awesome :)

Hey guys, I'm also looking for players to add to my friendlist because in game I can never find anyone.. :-s
I'm from the Netherlands so my timezone is GMT+1. I play at varied times, sometimes early afternoon, sometimes late at night. As for instruments and difficulty levels; I play guitar on hard/ex, vocals ex, drums med. The new songs in RB3 take some getting used too though, so there's an ever higher risk of failing at the moment ;-)

One BIG difference with RB3 is it's real easy to forget to make yourself available for online play. In RB2 you had to specifically choose "Play Online" or "Play Local" but with RB3, it's local by default. After you select your profile, make sure you choose "Play Online" from the menu in order to show up as available in RB3.
I am bummed they did not improve the instrument info with online play -- I hate not knowing what instrument to grab before accepting an invite. The other annoying thing about online play is you don't get to see your band -- only the music video backgrounds. :(

Ok good, not the only person over 30 here!
Anyway, totally new to the forums, but not new to Rock Band at all. I haven't ever played online, and am not even sure if I can due to latency (satellite internet, big fun), but I am willing to attempt it. Have any of you ever tried online play with satellite? My kids just don't seem as interested in RB as they used to be, and playing alone gets a tad boring after a while.
Also, how do you look up your friend code? The name I use on RB3 is T-M Family, just not sure how to look upt he friend code to give online play a try.

11-18-2010, 12:22 PM
Welcome, RobotMom! To find your Wii console code, from the Main Menu on your Wii click on the mail link on the lower right hand side of the screen. Then click the little Write Msg icon and scroll over to your address book. On the front cover of the address book, you should see your own console code. Add the console codes of other players into your address book and then when they add you, they'll show up in RB3 automagically.
Adding you, Shannon! I have quite a long list of RB3 friends now, but most nights when I check it hardly anybody is online. Maybe I am playing too late at night or maybe people aren't hitting "Play Online"?

Feel free to add me. Again, not sure if I can play with my latency-filled connection, but I would like to at least try.
I play mostly guitar/bass and vocals: H-X, it really depends on the song. I can't sing this new stuff that I have never heard of, but I can muddle through on Med. And for some reason I can NOT sing Dead Kennedy songs at all :(.
I am still getting to know the keys, but I play Pro, not the regular modes, mostly E-H
And I am not plugging my drums in until New Order is available for Wii users :D And even then, I suck outloud on the drums and can't make it past Medium on 99% of the songs.
I have quite a bit of DLC, and also have The Beatles, and RB2.

Absent any way to talk to your bandmates in real time, like Skype or instant messages or txt messages, I would say in Quickplay, don't choose more than one or two songs each, don't leave in the middle of a gig unless it's real life calling, and don't feel pressured to play at a level you're not comfortable with. I'd rather you succeed playing Medium than missing 50% of the notes on Expert. Play for fun, not for points.

I haven't used Skype in forever due to lack of headset (my five-year old killed it), but I do use MSN. [ishtarfa at hot mail dot com]. I will try to memo it when I get everyone added to the Wii.
And I agree about not playing a song you can't kick butt at. I get frustrated enough with myself when I try a song and fail horribly at it, I typically won't play a song unless I can get at least 85% on it (Except Yngwie, that doesn't count lol!)

You need to exchange Wii console codes in order to become RB3 friends. Go to messaging, then Address book, from the Wii Main Menu and you'll see your own console code.

The good:
SDHC support for DLC and ability to import/download most of the RB2 ondisk songs (cost=$10).
Separate menu pulldowns for each player; you can change difficulty between tracks.
In an online band, EVERYONE can issue invites to their friends.
Every players track can have its own speed (it's an option).
The bad:
Crazy flashing/strobing/kaleidoscopic background during online play.
The game is picky about where in the menus you have to be to have your invites accepted.
Can only see your online bandmate's avatars briefly before the song.
You never see the character names of your online bandmates avatars.
No more bands, where I can play in your band, and you can play in mine, etc.
On wii, there are occasional USB resets where all the dongles lose power, only recovery method is wii reset button. Usually happens mid song, for me. I've had it happen 3 times in one hour, other times I can go for 3 hours without it occuring... don't understand why.
The ugly:
Song selection in online quickplay is different, everyone can add songs and delete songs, free-for-all style. You can add a song multiple times. The leader holds down the green key to start the set. The ability to find a set of randoms to play with is very limited, I've rarely found people looking for random players. While RB2's method had its problems, I'm not sure the RB3 way is better.
Hope to find you online and wade through some WHO DLC.

I'll add you right now :)
If we do get to play, be warned that I have loads of trouble activating overdrive during vocals :(
I'll add you next time I get on. Don't worry about the od. Most people here just want to jam for fun!
I have an arm injury that kept me off all year. Half the time I'm playing dependent on one arm, lol, and sometimes I have to bail so I'm not worried about scores anytime soon. I'm just glad to play again.
On another note, I never see anyone on. I tried the rockband chat too. Maybe some of you can post times you are usually on? I'm usually on weekends, weekdays is hit or miss but usually early. But if I know someone will be playing during the week I will hop on.

I'm usually on between 10-12 central time on weeknights. Weekends are more hit and miss. Seems I always see the same few people online who are on a similar schedule as me.

Hi everyone!
Enjoyed playing with you madillma and ChubChubb!
Just a little bit about me: I'm 48. I started playing drums about a year ago. Rockband and Guitar hero have been excellent for helping me improve my skills. I use a 9 peice Roland electronic drum kit instead of the game controller. I really am liking RB3 because all cymbals and the hi-hat pedal can be integrated with the note highway in "prodrum" mode. I'm still learning and by no means a seasoned drummer. I started on easy with GH3, so I have no problem playing with people who are starting out.
I've added most of you who have RB3 FCodes posted, looking forward to jammin' with all!

I am usually on later at night during the week. On weekends, I'm usually on before lunch or later at night (depending on family obligations ya know?). Otherwise, it's hit or miss for me.

Almost 40 here. I'm able to play most nights from midnight to 2 AM, before that it's a toss up. No expert but I have gold starred a few songs. Just looking to play with people.
I'm best on drums, but with the kids in bed I have to play guitar/bass.
I only have RB2 until Christmas, so if someone wants to play let me know.

I finally got my internet back in order (Having limited bandwidth SUCKS!). When I get downstairs in a bit I will add - Rockinrollers, Chub, Dayzee, & Alfred. Will add the rest once you all get your friend codes up.
I did plug in the drums since Blue Monday is finally up for DLC. Tried to play it on easy drums, cried a little, Stephen Morris is God. 'nuff said. (further proof that Santa needs to bring me a second kick pedal...or a drum kit that isn't fastened together with steel braces, bolts, & JB Weld)
Anyway, heading down in a tick to play, hope my internet holds out.

I believe that I have added the same list as Lexy (except myself, that would be awkward).
These forums have destroyed my saint-like patience. I have been trying to post for over an hour now.
Anyway, Lexy - I noticed your invite but was playing with my 6-year old at the time and also wanted to be online so we could chat while we play.
At any rate, I will have rockband chat (username RobotMom) and my MSN (ishtarFA at hotmail) up and running while I play for the next little bit. Wont be able to play for super long as I will have to do the dinner thing soon.
Hope this posts, it is honestly my last attempt hehe.

I cannot seem to find answer to this in FAQ. Perhaps someone here knows...
Does the RB3 game prevent players from playing together online if they both are playing the same instrument?

Fragbert - Sorry about earlier! I have been having major issues with my mics on RB3 and today was the icing on the cake. I did finally get it fixed, but had to reset the Wii completely. (This was after Lexus had issues as well) Never have issues with any other game, just RB3. Between Lexus and I, I think we ran quite a gambit of technical issues tonight. Ugh!! Anyway, just wanted you to know it was hardware issues and not me being a flake/dork or anything.
Anyway, even though it's a bit slow on the joining/loading, it seems that I CAN play online with no issues other than slowness, so woohoo for that!! Had a blast tonight with Lexus, and hope to get a chance to play with the rest of you peeps (minus all technical faux pas).

Does the RB3 game prevent players from playing together online if they both are playing the same instrument?Players can play online together but there are only 4 spots available so no they can't play the same instrument (with the exception of guitar and bass, or guitar/bass and keys).
It says you can play with up to 7 at once but many of us have found that isn't possible. You can set up dual vox but they have to be at the same location/console only.
Alfredc - I wouldn't worry about difficulty with this group. I don't know any OMB member who won't play with someone who wants to play on a different difficulty level. OMB members are more concerned about playing with good, reliable players who want to have fun. :)

Has anyone else noticed that if you play online with someone who is using a higher difficulty level, your "highway" runs slower than if you are just playing by yourself? I tried using the individual track speed option and that just seemed to slow it down even more. Just wondering if anyone else had the same (similar?) experience.

ChubChubb / fragbert66 / rockinrollers / etc
Thanks!
However I am currently hesitant on trying another online session as my very 1st RB online play (ever) the other night didn't go so well...
I accepted an invite and selected guitar at medium... the first 2 songs went fine (although I was very nervous, lol... felt like stage fright)... but for some reason the 3rd song, starting with the very 1st note and every sequential note after that, NONE of my strums registered right to the point of song failure (maybe 20-30 secs after song start it failed?).
Leader restarted the song and same thing, all notes failed right from the start. Then leader activated no fail mode and we completed the song, with me getting 90%. Same thing happend on 4th song, but the group disbanded right after... don't blame them.
I'll accept blame for the failures but it just seemed real strange that no notes registered on 2 tries, but on 3rd try I got 90%... anyone else ever see this happen? I've since replaced the rechargeable batteries on the guitar and performed some ping tests to check my network connection.

I think I cried the first time I tried to play X Bass on Primus. I am convinced that Les Claypool has extra fingers :p
Chubb - I think you played with my oldest (he's 14) kid the other day - hope you guys don't mind if he hops in and plays with you once in a while, he is still learning H/X, but I would rather him play with people that won't go all postal-freaky if he makes mistakes. (as some random pick-up did to him the other night). He called me down "Mom, I can't do Roundabout on bass, help!"
Anyway, should be on for a while tonight, if any of you guys will be around. Will also pop onto rockbandchat and MSN when I do. (Probably on vocals, my hands are too blistered and cut up for instruments)

Really looking forward to playing with more of you guys. I have you all in my friends list, but my schedule must be different than most of you because I rarely see you playing. (I tend to play late at night) I did manage to hook up with Lexy one night and it was cool because we were both on medium, I was on Pro Keys and Lexus on drums. Love mixing it up like that!

My "non-registering" strum issue showed up again while playing solo... and while it was happening, I fiddled with the strum bar and noticed that upstrums registered, but not down strums! I was able to upstrum and complete the song (and discovered the upstrum goals... lol)
On further examination, down strums produced a slight squeaky noise... so looks like an issue w/ my strum bar. Guitar's not even 2 months old yet!

And you're welcome, we had fun too. I would have liked to play more, but I was attempting to get the living room ready for the Christmas Tree (no I haven't gotten that stupid thing up yet). And sorry about that BNS thing, this is why I don't use my kids' settings hehe.

I was so flustered last night :(. The power stayed on, but the game kept crashing on us. Between the game crashing repeatedly at different spots, and the half inch of ice on the satellite dish, being able to play was just impossible last night. Going to give it another go today, will be around off and on throughout the day if everything goes well. (And if RB3 keeps crashing, I will probably just switch to RB2 or TB:RB, if I do I will put those codes up here if anyone is interested in playing that).

Hi Everyone,
Something about my Wii. I hold the power button on the console until the light turns red. This shuts the Wii off and also turns the power off on my USB attached devices. When I shut down my comsole this way, the next time I turn on the power and start RB3, I have noticed that the "wii friends list" shows "loading" beside each name. It takes a long time before the friends list is available. It also seems as though "finding online players" takes forever too.
Ok, so instead of using the console power button, I use the wiimote power button to shut down. This way the console light turns orange. The Wii is off, but the USB stuff is still on. So I unplug the USB. When I power up the next time and start RB3 everyone on my friend list is listed and I "find online players" almost right away.

I think that the Wii uses the WiiConnect24 to update the friends list on the console. I think that when you hold down the power button until it turns red, it also turns WiiConnect and it's access to the Internet off. When you turn the console back on, it is "starting from scratch" on updating the friends list. Using the wiimote simply puts the console into standby and Internet connection is still "on". I think that while on standby, the console can continue to update the friends list in the background. For what it's worth...

My guitar is out of comission due to bad strum bar... it's the RB3 stratocaster guitar made by MadCatz and not even 2 months old! Called MadCatz yesterday and got authorization to send in for warranty repair. What a bummer as I will be without a guitar for a few weeks.

Yeah only one drummer at a time. I was pleasantly surprised when you joined on guitar. Sorry for the drop outs and reinviting and all that -- trying to hook up with multiple people is really frustrating without out-of-game communication. Do you use Skype? Or that rockbandchat.com site?
