This is what I did to fix my drum issues

Issues:
Lagging drum sounds
Being off beat when playing with the song
Sensitivity being all out of whack
Calibrating nightmare

What I did to fix:
I stopped using my 30 in high def tv. I brought out my tiny 20 inch tube tv. It's not high def, so everything is plugged using analog cables. I set the calibration to CRT and then make every offset 0. It works flawlessly. Granted there are still a few hiccups where it doesn't register a hit, but come on, this is bound to happen when you pay $40 for a small plastic drum kit. I taped all my drum heads down with duct tape. This puts the head closer to the sensor. Now I can actually drum roll and it registers.

I honestly think they should redesign the kick pedal. I wish they would have just had an actual kick pedal hitting a small senor pad. This whole CHEAP spring pedal is nonsense. Because it's so tight, your foot is bound to bounce. This can cause unwanted double taps.

I think most problems reside in newer HD TVs. The lag is sometimes unable to compensate for the drums. It stinks that I had to revert back to this old TV, but at least I can play my game fine. I might have to just sell the darn thing. I hate having to struggle to enjoy something I paid $200 for.

What do you think of all this?

I just disable DD5.1 in the PS3 XMB settings. This brought most of the lag to a tolerable level for me. Not perfect but very playable and drum fills sound decent now.

tolerable level/ Not perfect / drum fills sound decent now.

These words make me cringe. Why should anyone have to SETTLE for less? That's unacceptable.

Oh I totally agree with you but for now it's the best I can do on my system. It's playable... to me that's better than not playable or enjoyable.
