Change band name?

After I got my bundle home and playing, I set up a band less than 45 minutes after it was released here in California, and chose the name iRock (cause my wife and I are Apple geeks)... Set it up, no problems, and then a patch came out, I did the patch, it said the whole "Communicating with Rock Central server" thingy, and then it told me that the band name is already taken and not able to be used online. wtf. Why didn't it say that when I created it?

Anyways... I'd just like to change that band name because I'd already invested a huge chunk of playtime on it before this incident popped up... Anyone know if changing the band name is possible? If so, I don't recall a way to do it... :/

I was actually wondering this myself. I originally had my band as "FNA" --- long story short I wanted to delete that band profile and start a new "FNA" from scratch. Well when I tried creating it again it said that name was already being used online "obviously" and now I'm stuck only using that name locally I must have a band named FNA! Or at least F N A (with spaces in between)

I wish I could change it... Is there even any way?

There is a way to change the character names. I can't remember if there is one or not for the actual band. Try looking in the main menu under ?options?

Made a band, wanted to start it over...and the name was already taken online...
I just added a "!" after the band name. So now it's "Steam Powered Giraffe!".

You can change a band name anytime by simply going into the "Band Profile" under BWT and highlighting the band name and hitting "X" (at least on PS3).
It's the same place where you go to redesign your band logo and whatnot.

Great band name, btw. My bro-in-law and I saw it on the leaderboards at one point I believe, and laughed our asses off.

Oh, btw, my band with my char on vocals is Penny Arcade. It was the first randomly generated name that came up, and holy crap it was available!!

Our hometown is also Seattle. :D

No one has provided a real solution to the problem of reclaiming a band name. My husband and I had to change the leader in our band and in the process we lost our original band name. When recreating the band, we could not reclaim OUR band name. To add insult to injury, after creating another great band name, we thought we'd try again to get our first band name back. DUH! We lost the second name, too! Not so smart. So we want at least one of the band names back... to use worldwide (a.k.a. xBox live).

I'm wondering if this will be something that will be remedied with the new Rock Band community site whenever that finally launches... If there will be a way to log in and manage and delete band names so they can be reclaimed. This really needs to be addressed somehow, not just for us, but for HMX/MS as well... Imagine that for everyone who bought RB, they have between at least 1-3 scrapped bands never to be touched again because of the name alone... Server clutter.
