View Full Version : Wii - Drum USB connector seems faulty

I've searched the forums, but couldn't find anything related to my issue.
I just purchased RB2 for Wii today. Guitar works, haven't even tried the mic yet, but I can't get the drums to work.
I've plugged in the USB wireless adapters and both of them have blinking LED's, like they should. However, when I press the blue button on the Drum wireless adapter, in an attempt to link the drum set, the LED turns off and stays off. Guitar wireless adapter is working as it should.
Oddly, I was able to get the drums to work for about 5 minutes, then they disconnected. I was only able to get the drums to work this one time by disconnecting the guitar's wireless adapter. I've tried both USB ports on the Wii, and even tried using the USB ports in the guitar adapter. I haven't been able to get the drums to work again.
Thanks in advance,
Chris.

there is a black button on the drum box.. drums on and then hit that then there is a gray button on the side faceing you under the the 8 way pad.. push it.. just like a sync. button on the wii remote

By "black button on the drum box", I'm assuming you're talking about the power switch next to the battery compartment. I was unable to find any black 'button'.
As stated in the OP, I was able to get the drums working - but only for a few minutes, then the connection drops and the USB adapter's LED blinks.
I can't get the drums to work again unless I unplug the USB adapter for several minutes, and then plug it back in. This, combined with the fact that the LED on the USB adapter shuts off when the blue button is pressed, tells me that the problem is in the USB adapter, not the drum set itself.

My guitar works fine and the USB controller has the blue light on. But my drum controller doesn't connect the drums. The blue light never comes in, like there is a broken connection inside.
Perhaps there is something broken inside. You can hear something rattling in the connector, like it has broken off.
Can I get a replacement USB connector at a Game Stop? Or do I have to go through tech support?

My girlfriend's mom got Rock Band 2 Special Edition for Wii for me this Christmas. The guitar works fine, but the drum adapter doesn't stay on. I can sometimes get it to connect to the drums, but half way through a song, the adapter turns off and I get an onscreen message saying to plug the adapter back in. Is there any place I can buy a new adapter, or do I have to get my girlfriend's mom's receipt and send it in with the old adapter to get a new one?

Maybe there was some sort of odd electronic 'break-in period'. I haven't done anything different, but for the past week, the drums have been working just fine. No more connection problems.
I don't get it, but it seems to have fixed itself.

Wow, this is interesting... The exact same thing is happening to me, but on my PS3 Wireless drums adapter.
To chrism.. Even thought it seems fine now, it may get worse.
My adapter was acting up a few weeks ago and would disconnect every 5 minutes. It fixed itself somehow, but just recently got worse.
Now its every 30 seconds it would disconnect. I've submitted an RMA, still waiting.

I bought Rock Band 2 for the wii and I had no trouble with the wireless adapters for either drum or guitar, but my little brothers appear to have lost the wireless adapter to the drum set. I have not found it anywhere and I am wondering if there is any way to get/buy an adapter without having to buy a whole new drum set.

Whoa! Necro-Thread! (http://www.freewebs.com/cortlesteeze/pix/ThreadNecro.jpg)
I'm sure there's a way. Have you contacted the manufacturer?
I just searched Google Products, eBay, and Craigslist, and came up with nothing.
