This is a list of bands that are pretty freaking huge yet have not been in GH or RB yet , which leads me to beleive they all refuse to let their music be in the games... or at least maybe they refuse to have it in GH/RB games
Led zeppelin
AC/DC
Pink floyd
Journey
The beatles
System of a down
The offspring
Misfits
Green day
Blink 182
Feel free to add to the list and maybe we can sticky this as a guide of what not to waste your time requesting

i dont see anything wrong with not having the offspring in, their music is kinda boring to be honest, the same for journey. as for the others, we might see something eventually, but i see your point.

I dont remember which but the Offspring's one big hit in the last 10 years was on one of the tony hawk games.. so i'm pretty sure if someone would write them a check for $20 they'd let them put it on there.

The game Crazy Taxi for the Dreamcast had a soundtrack made entirely of Offspring and Bad Religion. So, I don't think they have an objection to the principal of the thing.
But with Journey, I don't think that's a licensing issue. So much of their music comes from keyboards, that it doesn't seem like a very good fit for Rock Band. I know lots of people who would love to sing it though, so I say bring it on. That's what DLC is for, after all. Lots of things I don't want and don't have to pay for. :)

Don't mean to be an ass but seriously.... why point out the offspring as boring when its on the same list as pink floyd? lol

Please don't open that can of worms. Pink Floyd is anything but boring.

I don't think Blink would refuse to use their music, since one of their songs was already in the HMX game Amplitude.
But maybe things are different now that blink is no more.
I think the chance to get Angels & Airwaves DLC is pretty good though, since Tom Delonge was in some kind of MTV Rockband TRL Countdown show or something.
Well, AvA is better than Blink anyway.
Oh, but I think you can add Oasis to this list. I don't think the Gallaghers would allow someone to use their music. But ... who knows.
Oh, and I think Greenday would allow their tracks to be used too.

Hey mods I think it's time to ban eaglegoalie. Anyway I definitely don't see how you can say Pink Floyd is boring. I would love to sing One of My Turns.

I dont think that SoaD would deny to have thier music in games.

The main ones I can think of that would be hard or impossible to get in would be The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Tool. They all seem pretty protective of their music, especially the Beatles and Tool. They seem to want the record store to be the only place you can get their songs.
I heard Led Zeppelin on a commercial once, so maybe there's hope there, but that probably cost good money. Then there's the question of whether many Zeppelin master tracks are still around. Nobody wants to play a Zep cover. :D
I'm honestly surprised they got Nine Inch Nails, that blew me away when I saw it.

Remember that the bands (edit: MOST big selling bands) don't actually own the music - The record labels do... So, for HMX to get permission, they have to work out a licencing agreement with the copyright holders.

Well look man
SOAD has been one of the single most popular bands in existence since their last 2 albums and they were popular enough before that too
People have always suggested them... NOBODY hates them
If SOAD was willing to be in GH or RB.... they would have already been in GH2 GH3 AND RB by now

Believe it or not...Michael Jackson owns the rights to the Beatles music, hopefully we could see some... and Journey was bluesy/prog/jazz rock before the got keyboard heavy and ballady...
Zeppelin should be a no brainer, but who knows what's up with their licensing.
I like almost everything, so I say bring on any/every thing!!

Well thats just false. There are a few people here that them and their lead singer. I'm not one of them but SOAD is just not my cup of tea, anyway.
I'm honestly surprised a Green Day song hasn't been in any one of these games. Again, not a fan, I'm just surprised an "American Idiot" song wasn't in of these rhythm games. I do think one of the songs was on a Madden soundtrack. It may have been the single "American Idiot", actually.

Do you see anyone giving SOAD the FOB treatment? lol... no.... you dont

SOAD is in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. I'm pretty sure. I was rolling around in the radio one day and it came on.
I'm pretty sure this song was in the game. Either that, or I was playing the game the same time it came on a real radio.

Well FOB is in Rock Band. So maybe the FOB treatment is a good thing?
That doesn't sound right no matter how many times I say it. lol.

What you might have hear was killing in the name by RATM.
They have similar styles....when you think about it.

Led Zeppelin
AC/DC
They are both indie ("Independent") bands and run their own record companies. I honestly wouldn't want AC/DC in RB or GH.

Uhmm, Led Zeppelin's first five albums were under the Atlantic label and a lot of AC/DC's were under Albert. I don't think I've ever heard anyone refer to Led Zeppelin or AC/DC as indie bands before. And as for not wanting AC/DC in RB or GH, you're definitely in the minority.

what proof do yo have that those band were even asked to be in rock band (excluding ones stated in interviews like zep and the beatles etc.) and no im not trying to be negative as there is only one band on the list i dont like, i think for most bands its just is what they have to pay to licence the song worth it in sell through

That's not true. All Around The World has been running on cell phone commercials for months now. They also have like 3 songs in the movie soundtrack of Goal!
I think they'd give it up. Especially if it meant more exposure in the States.

I forgot about the Offpsring. I was a big Crazy Taxi player and a huge fan of Americana so I'd love to see some of that album in Rockband. My friend was a pretty good drummer and would probably get a kick out of playing them in Rockband considering he was a huge fan of the Offspring.

Umm didn't the beatles sell alot of their masters to Michael Jackson? I mean anybody thats protective of anything isn't gonna leave it in the hands of Michael Jackson. lol.
Maybe thats why theres no Beatles in RockBand, HMX just doen't want to go through Jacko.

Must have been the real radio, that song came out a few years ago (I think) and GTA:SA takes place in the 90s.

Um, no. Michael Jackson bought the publishing rights to most of the Beatles' catalog when they came up for auction in the 80s. The Beatles didn't sell anything to him, and the masters are likely in the hands of EMI and Apple Records.
So HMX would have to go through (I'm guessing here) Sony/ATV for the publishing rights, and EMI/Apple for the master recordings. Completely different kettles of fish.

HMX already got the Beatles before. Twist and Shout is in the Karaoke Revolution games so the Beatles are far from impossible to get in a video game.

For Beatle songs you'll have to ask Micheal Jackson, since he owns the rights to most of their songs. I don't think Paul or Ringo are in a position to allow their own music into the game.

Led zeppelin Of course they wouldn't. Robert Plant is a ***** when it comes to licensing. Although, it HAS been done before (Dogtown and Z Boys got 2 Zeppelin songs, some car company got Rock and Roll for their commercial, etc.). Led Zeppelin just went digital, and maybe a deal with iTunes could allow their music in the game
AC/DC Wrong, Neversoft got the rights to an AC/DC song before. But they probably went through hell to get it, and it wasn't a very popular one.
Pink floydI wouldn't but songs that I can fall to sleep to.
Journey Nah, Sopranos and the Hills got Don't Stop Believing.
The beatles I wouldn't doubt this. They are an extremely sought-after band.
System of a down Nah
The offspring Who are they?
Misfits Who are they?
Green day Nah
Blink 182 Nah
And that's all I have to say about that. [/forrestgump]
