Sorry if this has already been asked and answered, but I couldn't find an answer in the FAQ and my search returned no results.
Basically, what needs to be done to enable a person to play guitar and sing or play drums and sing using the XBox headset, rather than using the standalone mic and a mic stand?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Yes I would also like to know. I can use the USB mic, but no matter what I try I can't get the XBOX Live headset working.

1) Disconnect the mic from the console.
2) Plug the headset into the standard controller.
3) Place headset on head.
4) RAWK!
Enjoy!
Edit: there are also headset connections on the guitar and drums, but these are only used for online play voice chat.

Aha! Thanks -- that's the answer. I assumed the headset jacks on the drums and strat were for combination play/sing usage.

I believe the headset plugs on the guitar and drums are intended for chatting over xbox live and not (at least at this time) intended on being used for doing the singing.
The easiest way to use the headset is to plug the headset into the controller (like you would for any voice communications) and use that as the headset/microphone and just leave the xbox controller off to the side (I wish the cord was just a foot longer). Also, you may want to make sure that the USB microphone isn't plugged in (not sure if you can use both at the same time). I think you might also have to change your voice options to output the voice audio through both the headset and tv speakers. Personally, I'm probably just going to buy a microphone stand.
Edit: looks like you got your answer while I was composing this

The thing about the mic's is the game recognizes a standard controler in conjuction with the mic. Luckily, my boyfriend has a headset when we opened the box and realized after 20mins the mic was a dud.

the problem with using the headset I've encountered is that it is lagged terribly. It was a good half second behind. I ended up switching back to the mic.

Ah, ok. I also thought it was supposed to work hooked into the drum and guitar. That's kind of weird having to hook it to a controller. Guess I need to get a controller holster to hold it on my belt while I play :)
