View Full Version : RB2 Wii Version Software Only doesn't come with redemption code

So you go out and fight the snow to find the Wii Version of Rock Band 2, software only. I open the baby up and it comes with the game and instruction booklet. No user manual that has the redemption code for 20 free song downloads. You go back to Gamestop and they said more than likely the redemption code is saved for the bundle sets. Why on earth would I buy the bundle set if I already have RB1 and GH, the entertainment room is already a mess. For those of you who have the XBOX or PS or Wii and purchased the 'software only' did you have this same situation or was the user manual with redemption codes simply left out of my game?

Don't worry because you are not alone. I purchased the Wii bundle for Christmas and it too didn't have the code for the free songs. There is no where to post this as a problem to Harmonix either.

But there have been tons of threads explaining this. Most notably, on the announcements page, HMX stated that the DLC is not yet ready. On top of that, many people keep explaining that there will be another announcement once the DLC is ready. THERE IS NO PROBLEM; IT'S JUST NOT READY.

Dovanon how is it not ready? The downloads are ready by visiting the http://register.rockband.com/ it says it's ready for download for the XBOX, PS3 & Wii

Then that part of the website is inaccurate. Hopefully it will be corrected. Check the announcements section of the forum.
As of now, NO DLC is available for the Wii. They hope to remedy that soon.

theres no need for a code, 360 and ps3 users needed it so People with rock band 1 and not rock band 2 couldnt get the songs, but since wii Rock Band 1 had no DLC, there is no need for that... we will get dlc in january

Thanks for the update but how does Rockband.com plan to make this work for Wii owners? E-mail folks and give them specific instructions for downloads. Seems a bit odd logistically.

I'm guessing they we will be able to download directly through the music store without having to do this redemption code thingy. But I'm probably wrong.

That's actually the current theory. Other systems (PS3 and 360) both had RB1 with DLC, so they needed the codes to verify that you owned RB2. That is not the case with the Wii as RB1 had no DLC.

On the PS3 and Xbox 360, the DLC all could be used with RB1 or RB2 (The downloads are game-independent), and was delivered through the console store.
There were never downloads for RB1 for Wii, so anyone accessing the soon-to-be-released Music Store will be RB2 owners, therefore not requiring validation. Also, the music will be delivered in-game, not through the Wii Shop Channel, and therefore is "locked" to the particular game.

Apparently, there will be like 50 songs available for download on the Wii, 20 of them free WITHOUT A REDEMPTION CODE, 30 that can be bought with Wii Points. It works like GH:WT. So no need for a redemption code. I found that out while browsing the web after I saw that I had no code either.

There is no code REQUIRED to download the 20 free songs, they download just like any other song pack, only they're free. This is not true for the other consoles.

So now that we have the Music Store available for Wii, you're saying that the "20 free songs" advertised are not songs we get to choose or songs we obtain from redeeming a code, but that they are the awful, free songs scattered throughout the music store? I strongly hope that this is a mistake. 99% of these free songs are not even worth downloading.

Yup. They are the same 20 free ones for X360 and PS3 that were announced/revealed months ago. Give them a chance, there are a couple good ones in there.

Yeah. When I boot up Rock Band, I honestly am not familiar with even half the songs, if that. So when I played the free songs, I actually rather enjoyed them.

OK just got RB2 for the Wii for my son and when we try and get the free download songs via the Music Store it says we dont have enough Wii points but we are picking the ones that cost Zero points not the ones that show as 200. Any ideas why?
