View Full Version : Hey EA, will we get fixed guitars?

Hey EA,

Since we've all been put through this problem of junk guitars that break after a couple hours use and then waiting for days, are we going to at least get guitars that have been fixed or are we going to get the same crap guitars and have to send in for more new ones? Any chance of a new guitar that's sturdier than using the foam for example?

unless they knew ahead of time, aka after the game shipped but before it was released, i dont think 4 days over a holiday weekend is enough time for a company to redesign their hardware and mass produce them to resend everyone.

Well, if they don't, the only one who is going to make out, is UPS with all the extra packages it will get to ship. Imagine how many instruments they would have to replace if they didn't, on top of all the bad press from it.

They have had months to work on these. My box was packaged in September. They didn't just make the guitar and ship it 4 days ago, they have been filing boxes since Sept.

yea thats true and ups owners probably love it, the workers having to sort through hundreds of packages, they probably needed to bring in tanks to send out all the instruments

It would just be nice to know that they're fixing it and going to recall it or something. I mean, what are we going to do with our P.O.S. guitars when we cant send them back any more because the 60 day warranty ran out. There had better be a recall for all of us who bought it when it first came out.

It seems as though all guitars made after 10/27 are working just fine.

thats when yours was made, not when it was shipped, they shipped to stores a week before the game was released. Also, they were not aware of the problem or they would have recalled any made before a date before they got to the consumers. mine was made nov. 1 and it still broke

I think mine was packaged on 10/28 and the guitar broke and the red pad just started to not always respond. I'm not 100% sure on the date but I know it was at least packaged in October.

That's nice to know, wonder if they changed the junk inside like the foam on the strum bar because that seems to be the major issue.

Wow, then it may be an assembly line problem. I thought the established break line was on 11/1. If it was all of them, then everyone would have been broken by now. Maybe a certain line was manufacturing them wrong.

what do u mean by that, i havent heard about foam on the strum bar. My guitar was made Nov. 1st and im scared that it will die, the strum bar was nice when i got it but now its very loose and feels flimsy.

also, my drum petal is broken

It is utterly futile, I know, but I do need to vent.

As someone in the UK who went to great expense to import this game on the strength of the accomplished soft AND hardware HMX released in the past, I am understandably annoyed at the pathetic crap they have shipped with the RB disc.

I have the PS3 pack and, with the guitar getting steadily worse since hour 1 and no option to return under warranty, I cracked the guitar open tonight to try the rubber band fix (it didnt work) and I was open mouthed at the shoddy build of the strum bar micro switches.

I spent hours trying to configure lag and in the end it wasnt me, It was the 50 cent guitar.

if I had the know how, I would try and transplant the PS2 GH controller strum bar into the Rb controller, actually, id rather just use the PS2 buttons, too.

You have to laugh at the irony, first all all, PS3 game purchasers got kicked in the balls for not being able to use old GH controllers, and the double whammy being that the controller you HAVE TO USE is complete, unadulterated junk.

I know this post is pointless, but my girlfriend is sick of me moaning about it so I thought it might help to vent here. It hasnt, im still near apopletic with rage.

Oh well....

If you check one of the other threads, there's one where a guy tells you how to fix the strum bar. In it, there is a picture of the guitar opened up. It shows that crappy foam pads are used to push the bar back into place after each hit. No one is really sure if this is what is causing all of the problems or not.

I was just hoping that the new guitars would be shipped with better quality materials and fixed, or at least that they were working on a fix and that they would recall it so that all of us who bought the early ones would not get screwed by the fact that the warranty is only 60 days.

This is outrageous! I can't believe one of the most expensive game package be so cheap! I'm pointing fingers at EA right now because i'm used to their games going out way too early, full of bugs and cheap products! I know they only handled distribution, but they are probably the cause of the stupid release date.

Now the big question, why didn't any of the reviewers get those problems? Did they get special instruments that are actually working? Or are they biaised?

Game Informer raised questions about a month or so ago when their last issue came out, about october 20 or so, stating that they were concerned about the longevity of the peripherals, both drums and guitar.

hmxsean and his band used to practice every week before launch. I wonder if their periphs broke or not.

I'd be curious to know, I know the testers from IGN had one of the drum foot-pedals snap and that Game Informer listed concerns about the reliability of both that and the drum set in their review in their November issue that came out around 10/20.

My replacement guitar arrived Monday. I had peeked inside my old one, and it had the metal contacts.

The box the new guitar came in had the same numbers on it as the original (though I'm not at home right now, so I can't list them.) The large numbers on the box were the same, though the small white sticker in the upper corner was slightly different. I'll try to be more specific when I get home later, and maybe we can get a better handle on what's good and what isn't....

I have yet to look inside, or even play with, the new guitar.

Never got a confirmation email.
