Hey Guys...
I have both Rock Band, and Guitar Hero 3 for the XBOX360. I noticed that 3's and 7's where available on both platforms, but as Downloadable Content for Rock Band. As I was playing the song, I noticed that the notes where alittle bit different. So I started thinking... hmm, I wonder what it would look like, side by side to see which has more notes, more score, just harder to play. So, I set both games to MEDIUM and started away. I recorded both in the same position using an HD camera, and what I recorded is at the below link. Check it out, pretty cool when you see a side by side comparison. NOTE: for some reason, both begins like 10 second different, like something was added to the master tracks in the game, from the real cd. It syncs up after 10 seconds of play.
Enjoy Guys!!

I noticed that Rock Band seems like it goes alot slower than guitar hero 3

They're pretty close, but if you crank the difficulty up to expert the RB chart really shines IMHO.
LOL @ 2:10 into the song where the two tracks alternate between the chords, and sustain rhythm.

to be honest, the RB version was much better to play, and fun. being they were back to back, i felt the difference in the song. rb was about playing the song, where guitar hero 3 felt like i was just trying to hit the notes.

Rock Bands version looks more realistic at least. A lot of the RB notes are spaced like a power chord would be, the GH ones are two keys right next to each other, which you would never press on a real guitar fret board.
For instance, pressing fret 1 and 3 in RB, instead of 2 and 3 in GH. You can keep your hand in a real power chord postion.

Cherub Rock is different on both the games also. I like the Rock Band version better, seems a bit more realistic.

Rock Band's version definately reminds me of how GH2 would have done it. Rock Band is the sequel to GH2 in my opinion. GH3 was just an attempt to milk Harmonix's creation. I bought GH3 the minute it was released and it was fun, but I just got it to tide me over until Rock Band came out. The note charts in GH3 are ridiculous. I was starting to get frustrated with it. On expert it was becoming less and less about feeling the music and more about trying to memorize what crazy finger pattern was coming up next.

A hard or expert mode video would have demonstrated this a little better, since playing this song on that difficulty in GH3 was always a six-pack of irritation in a can. But even here I can see a distinct difference--RB appears to have less reliance on artificial inflation of difficulty through unnecessary chords...

The Rock band version is definitely more similar to actually playing it, but the same cannot be said for songs like Cherub Rock.

I love this song, but it's just so hard on Expert that it kind of turns me off from playing it. Maybe RB's chart will be better. =|

I avoided the queens of the stone age pack completly because 3's and 7s was so damn annoying on expert in GH3 looks like I was wrong. WHen I have some extra MSPs I'll pick it up.

This was one of the songs that made me quit GH3 in frustration on Tier 7 in Hard. I just didn't care for any of the songs on that tier and I kept failing them. I've seen the expert video and not only does it look playable but it looks fun. Go figure.

Not even looking at the note charts and just watching the backgrounds -- the difference in presentation is insane.

I definitely enjoy the RB version of both 3's and 7's and Cherub Rock much better, you can actually have fun with them. My take on the shared song difficulties (in terms of Expert guitar charts):
Easier in RB:
3's and 7's
Cherub Rock
Paranoid
About Equal:
Mississippi Queen
Reptilia
Harder in RB:
When You Were Young (though not by much)
I might have missed one, but generally they are either easier or about equally as difficult.
