I bought Guitar Hero: World Tour and played it for a week or so. It's good fun, but there aren't many songs, and I hate the idea that any songs I buy won't work in future games.
So, I invested in Rock Band 2, but I'm having major problems: the game completely locks up my console. I can't get back to the 360 dashboard - in fact, no controller does anything, there's no animation, and the sound stops too.
If I want to reproduce the problem - and it happens *every* time - I just fire up the game, and go to Solo Quickplay. As soon as I choose that option, the entire game stops. I've tried going to other options: the store works fine and the options work fine. If I go to Tour mode, I can get as far as Local Tour where I can see options for people to join, but as soon as I press the green button on my guitar, the game locks up as usual.
Some information:
- I'm using the stock GH:WT guitar that came with the box.
- I've got an Elite 360 with lots of hard drive space free.
- When I first ran the game it prompted me to install an update. I did that.
- After the game crashed twice, I tried downloading the Bonus Tracks to see if that somehow solved the problem; it didn't.
- I've checked the game disc, and it's immaculate.
- It's the UK/European version of the game.
- This is my first problem with any game on the 360. I've never had any disc read errors (and this doesn't come up as a disc read error either - it just freezes), red rings of death, or other problems.
- If I try without the guitar plugged in, I get a message saying it can't detect the microphone (unsurprisingly - I don't have one!) so I can't check whether the rest of the game works or not.
I've tried it five or six times now, and it crashes every single time. I have never made it outside of the menu system.
Please help - I really want to jump ship to Rock Band, but just can't get it to work!
Take care,
Paul
