Just curious to see the number of people that have heard a song for the first time ever in the game and really like it.
Coheed and Cambria - Welcome Home blew my socks off. I've apparently been living under a log, because I've never heard this song prior to RB.

I was happy when C&C's Welcome Home was announced, as I just started appreciating them when I saw them at Warped Tour this Summer, the guitar in that song is awesome.
I'd have to say Creep, Foreplay/Long Time (like the above poster I knew the song but never put it with a name/artist), Maps, When You Were Young, 3's & 7's, and Joker & the Thief have been downloaded and played pretty voraciously since I got Rock Band. I was already a fan of The Killers and QotSA but I hadn't appreciated these songs yet, and they're all great. Gotta love the reprecussions of Rock Band.

The Bang Camaro song is awesome.
FOREPLAY/LONGTIME
HIGHWAY STAR
RUN TO THE HILLS
I never had much of a classic rock background so the latter 3 were "new" to me.

I'm going to say Time We Had as well.
That one caught me completely out of left field, and I love it.

I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm getting horrible scores on medium rofl.

Yeah I forgot to include Time We Had, I usually don't like the Bonus Tracks but that one is amazing

"Time We Had" for me as well, along with "Outside". Great melodies on those songs.
"Nightmare" and "Brainpower" are cool too, but I'm not quite as crazy about them as "Time We Had" and "Outside".
Overall, I like the bonus songs much more than the ones on GH and GHII.
As for songs on the regular setlist:
"Maps"
"The Hand That Feeds"
"Learn to Fly"
"Suffragette City"
"Dani California"
"Next to You"
"Welcome Home"

Nightmare sounds too much like a bad Enter Sandman ripoff, everything about it annoys me.

Naw, it's a direct ripoff of a Maiden song.

I'm a big fa of classic rock and older music, but I had never really explored the British Metal scene, so Run to the Hills was a nice surprise...I'll definitely expand my collection to include more Maiden and the like...

It's not something new to me, but I was floored by Black Hole Sun. I cannot express how deep my hatred is for all things Soundgarden (including that song), but it's a blast to play on guitar and drums. Anyone else find themselves enjoying a song they didn't like before?
Coheed & Cambria was a nice surprise I hadn't heard, though I don't care much for the vocals and it drags a bit at the end.

I listened to C&C back when their GOOD albums first came out...and I completely forgot about Welcome Home until Rock Band resurrected it for me! Its a great song, one of my favorites by far.

Electric Version - The New Pornographers
Can't Stand Losing You - The Police
...And Justice For All - Metallica
All of these songs blew me away, especially since I never really got into the first 2 bands and I thought that I had a burning hatred for metallica, but this song get me amped! All 3 have been stuck in my head for about 3 days now.

Pleasure (Pleasure) - Bang Camaro
Welcome Home - Coheed and Cambria
Run to the Hills - Iron Maiden
And as much as I dislike Fallout Boy, Dead on Arrival is a lot of fun to play on drums.

For me it's Run for The Hills by Iron Maiden, but an even greater surprise is Foreplay by Boston. I've also heard it before but never paid close enough attention. What a kick ass song.

being that I had heard many of the songs already, the one that stood out to me simply because of its intro was "Nightmare" by Crooked X then I got to thinking I may have heard it and guess what the intro is the same if not as similiar as it can get to an Iron Maiden song called "Wasted Years". Anyway when you play the intro to that song and the fog kicks in and you power up..damn its sweet

I was surprised that I actually like the Fallout Boy track.
I've heard everything else on the main list, and haven't unlocked very many bonus tracks.
I love that Mother Hips song, though! I'll have to check out more of their stuff.
For those that have never heard the Yeah Yeah Yeahs until RB, check out their song "Y Control". Their guitarist is amazing. They have no bassist, but you would never know.

It's better than the ten minute Ode to Forever that is Green Grass & High Tides...

I also never heard Welcome Home before this game. That's one band on there that I think I'll probably listen to more of their music.
Juke Box Hero is a blast to sing and play guitar at the same time. Maps on expert is really fun to drum.

The rest of their catalog was a big disapointment to me. I was expecting more of the Blind Guardian/Helloween/Old Savatage style that was going on with Welcome Home. I very much like the melodic power metal genre.
The same thing happened to me with Avenged Sevenfold and Beast and the Harlott when GH2 came out. But I really dug that CD. I still need to get their new one. Word on the street is that it is more Pantera-ish.
I also have to admit tho, that Garage song is in my head AND WONT GO AWAY...
I was born and raised on Boston/Rush/Iron Maiden, and was playing Foreplay Longtime / Piece of Mind/Number of the Beast songs in a garage band over 20 years ago. I was definitely stoked when they were added to the list and pretty much made the game a must buy for me.

Welcome Home- Coheed & Cambria (Went to the library and got their first CD because of Rock Band)
Dead On Arrival- Fall Out Boy. (I'm a big fan of Fall Out Boy (I really don't care what you people think of my taste in music so spare us all your whining) and I had never heard this song in my life. Excellent song)

I had heard all of the songs before (and the ones i was shaky on i brushed up on after the announcement). As i expected, Go with the flow (drums) and welcome home (vox/guitar, i always do vox and guitar at same time) are my absolute favorite, but i was pleasently surprised with electric version and maps.

It's cool that you discovered them but have you really never heard of Deep Purple or Iron Maiden before Rock Band?
