It's not available in the game. Harmonix deemed it too slow and boring so they left it out.

def lacking a feature that would've given us solo tour players an extra instrument to master or just mess around with.
it's almost dismissing the importance of a bass guitarist, which is a slap in the face to REAL bass players IMHO......couldn't have taken much to make this happen.
*hoping it's still fixable w/a patch* (doubtful)

Weird. I saw Single player scores on the Leaderboard for Bass. Wonder how those got there if there's no way to play it in that mode???

Bass playing is not boring!
If you watch Flea you'll know what I mean.

A bass tour would not be boaring nor would it be a bad idea with the current setlist of songs in the game. And the difficulty actually steps up quite a bit if you play it like a bassist(Alternating up strums with 1st and 2nd fingers)

Searously as a Bassist in real life this kind of pissed me off. Go ahead and Play the bass parts to Dani California, Run to the Hills, Sabotage, Green Grass and High tides with only up strums its quite difficult. Run to the hills and Tom Sawyer are near impossible to do as such unless you are a real bassists because after a minute of only up strums at high speed your hand wants to fall off.

If this could be fixed with a patch I am sure it would be greatly received.

However I did realize that Harmonix did try to make ammands for not having it in there by having the bass have an overall higher max multiplyar of x6 and x12 when overdrive is active in quick play making bassist easily able to get a higer score then any instruments in songs that have nothing but repeating 8th or 16th note patterns such as Run to the Hills or In Bloom.

ha ha ha that was probably my friend and I, she plays Bass and she was waiting for FOUR HOURS for a challenge in ranked matches and NOBODY showed up, so she asked me to get on. I got on and sure enough 5 or 6 matches in a row it paired me up with her. She won cos she's great at bass (she was 100%'ing songs on expert, 900+ note streaks.) I'm used to songs on guitar so all the notes were new to me.

I get what you mean my friend and I always play, me on guitar and her on bass, and sometimes we battle on bass, and she gets "true skill" 12 and I get "true skill" 1 :o
Sometime we switch and I can't keep up! I glance over at her side of the screen sometimes and it's crazy, I'm like "jesus I'm glad I'm not going through all those ****in notes."

I dunno if this has been said yet.Just to clarify there is no solo career for bass, BUT, you can do quick play bass, which is where the scores on the solo leaderboard for bass are coming from.
