Green Grass and High Tides-Med-Drums

Anyone else have trouble with this Song on med drums? It killed me, I would have to take breaks because my leg would hurt so bad trying over and over to fail at 89/92 %. Why they put this song so early on in the game I have no idea. but I did find away to some what cheat and beat it if any one needs help getting past it so they can play the next city. I Finally got 93% 236 note streak, But only 3 stars but hey I got past it.

Yeah it gave me problems too. I failed 3 times between 92-95 percent. It became easier when I learned the proper way to put my foot on the pedal.

Its a tough song on medium. I 4starred it on friday, and by sunday I had reached it on the hard solo tour. I have yet to play it. Wish me luck.

My fiance just finished that song. He only had to do it twice to do so, but he hated how the same beat went on for like two minutes. That would throw me off, too, because you have a good repetition going, and then if you mess it up then you're completely thrown off.

I have no problem with playing the song, But the fills they put in(not the Star power fills) about 3/4 of the way threw I would lose it. So the easy way to beat it is to build your star bar up at the first and not do any fills. It will just keep showing up wanting you to do a fill and hit the green but don't(I didn't hit anything I would just wait for the notes to start back). So when you get to the fast part they cut a bunch of the sections out for fills which gives you a break. If any of that makes since, easier to do then explain.

Yea I have the Metallica pack, I can't get off easy on those. I use to be in a Metallica cover band years ago (I play Guitar) and we would have a very hard time finding a drummer that could play more then a few songs. So we gave that up. I can play the Real Drums some what but I can leave stuff out and just keep the main beat going and most people don't notice. But the game don't let you do that.

I would have thought I would have had problems, since I don't really think I have that good of rhythm.. but I did well, and didn't think it was that hard.. It was mine and my brother's (who was playing guitar) best song on BWT.

I can get past it with no problems on BWT the guitar can save you alot. On solo you have to save your self. and they like to put the white notes in the hard spots at the end.

I grew up on the Outlaws in the late 70's. My dad had it on his reel to reel (anyone know what that is?) Best thing to come since the record.

It's not really a real problem with the song, but on expert on this song is when my pedal broke in half. lol Meh should have my new one this Wednesday. Supposedly...

Yup, it was the only song I failed through the medium campaign. starting with "Fast part" through the end of the song, once you get off track its hard as hell to get back on.

Got it after 3 or 4 tries though.

Since my drum pedal is broke (waiting on replacement) I have not been able to play this song yet. I am thinking I will not have a problem though as I get around 95 to 98% on Run to the hills on Expert.

On RB, yes.. but I've never touched a real drum set in my life.

Not calling you a lier, But I have some friends that are drummers and they had to play thru it a few times on hard and expert before they could bet it. And they can play it on a real kit. I can play pretty good but I'm no drummer. Guitars my thing. And it's hard to get thru it on med the ending is a killer, Hard adds another bass beat and off beats. Just find it hard to believe. If you did you need to go out and buy a Drum kit.

I can't pass this song on med. I can play it perfectly until the fast part than I'm screwed. I've played it about 50 times and can only get to 62 percent. This sucks

Do like I said don't do the fills when they come up and it will cut alot of the song out and some of the hard parts at the end.

Well, if you want to be cheesy and just get past the song... You can ignore the base drum on them long repetitive areas. If you hit the other notes well enough, your meter will pretty much stand still.

That's what I did my first time. When I would mess up a little, I would periodically hit the base drum to try to get my meter up again.

According the screen that came up before I played a song it said that apparently the red drum and bass are most important. The fans care less if you miss the other notes.

Whichever programmer added that song that hard for that long on medium can die. 95-97% everytime. I have tried about 8 times now...Im ready to kill someone. Seriously...wtf were they thinking. I dont mind a challenge, but this is rediculous.

That's probably true, dunno.. But every time I tried to hit the base drum, I would loose my rythm. My foot is still somehow attached to my arms.. :) Anyway, this would cause me to miss the other notes making this worse then just missing a lot of the base drum notes.

Thats what the screen said lol:D I also have my foot attached to my hands. I have a problem when the bass is by itself and then there is a note a 1/2 beat behind and then bass by itself and repeats.

I'm about to start hard after 5* almost every song on medium. Wish me luck lol.

The only problem I have going through that song is that the drums tend to start rotating away from me, causing the pedal to keep getting slightly farther away and eventually messing me up.. Now I stick a small table right against the stand all the time so that that won't happen, and it's all good, heh.

But I don't really see the song as hard at all, the only thing hard about it is keeping it up for that long.

94% on my first pass through on medium, no previous drum experience.

One thing I noticed (and an advantage compared to my friends) is that my 'recovery time' if you will is at most one or two beats, so even if I'd get off track I'd recover before things would get too hectic.

I won't lie and say I didn't need to stand up and go for a walk after finish it. It's a monster of a song. I'd say it was the equivalent of Crazy On You for me the first time I played Guitar Hero.

First few attempts I made 89% or so the hardest part is stamina then you get to around 89/90% and they would throw some fills in and I would lose it. Then after about the 4th try My leg had had it. So I just stopped doing the free fills and made it threw it. To do it on hard/expert my first try? I don't think so. This song should have been in the last city. If it was a shorter song it would have been ok.

I played through it on hard today, and started missing notes because my leg was so tired :p

fill your yellow bar then when it gives you the free solo fills don't do them or at least don't hit the green. and it will take alot of the sections out of the song. You still need to be able to play the song or you want make it, It will just give you rest and help with some of the hard parts.

thats how I beat it today, it really made it a lot easier.

If you have having trouble during the second solo like I did (RY, Y kick pedal, RY, Y kick pedal, etc), what I did was alternating hitting the R and then Y, Kick pedal, totally ignoring the Y when during RY. It's a much easier beat to go to since you are alternating hand, hand + feet. You will stay about the same on the meter and might even inch your way up. That's how I passed this song. As per the tip on the loading screens, its much more important to hit the reds and the orange, so that's what I did in this section.

I thought it was easy on medium lol. It did hurt my ankle, but it was easy. I'm in the middle of the hard solo tour right now. It will come up soon lol.
