Future Guitar Hero vs. Rock Band

Does anyone think Rock Band might be demolished by Guitar Hero. And trying to fight back with a Beatles game isn't that smart. Or is Guitar Hero slowly destroying itself by pushing out every last breath they can, while Rock Band waits for the final blow. I personaly am thinking about joining the GH wave, and ditching Rock Band for a while, but hopefully that doesn't happen. I HATE the Beatles, so for now i will save up to buy the upcoming Guitar Hero games. And is there some kind of Rock Band game coming soon i haven't heard of yet?

I think the GH series is reaching the point of saturating the market. Eventually, they are going to run out of steam.

RB on the other hand gives out in small doses, which is smarter and requires less disk swapping. :)

As far as the Beatles standalone game, I think it's more a issue of licensing agreements than anything, similar to the AC/DC track pack, but that's a guess. I'm fairly sure HMX would rather offer them up as downloads, but their hands may be tied....again...I'm guessing.

There's a rumor of multiple microphone support for the Beatles' game but nothing official.

Jixzer has it right with the "less disc swapping" comment. That is what will keep RB going strong at least for me. I love the fact you can buy DLC and use it with both games. The Beatles game will be made by HMX but I don't think it will be an actual RB game like AC/DC.

One more thing, RB (IMO) has better game play than GH and the charts are easier to see for me.

I never really liked the Beatles before, I appreciated what they did for music but I just didn't like their sound, that was before someone gave me Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band can't get enough of them now.

This is definitely a troll alert. The horrible spelling + GH fanboyism.

I'm more worried that GH will drag RB down with it when it over-saturates. As far as I know, there's at least 3 confirmed GH for 2009. The next GH portable game, the next GHWT, and GH: Metallica. As much as I dislike Activision right now, various stock trading outlets definitely think Activision/Blizzard is a must buy right now. Bobby Kotick, the not-so brilliant CEO of Activision when it comes to interviews about GH, has been the head for a decade or so. I don't like him, but he's getting the job done. Activision has made great decisions for themselves, and is reaping the benefits.

EA Games doesn't care that much, but they aren't the publisher, merely the distributor. It's odd seeing EA not be on top, and EA taking chances with new IPs and franchises is actually hurting them (Mirror's Edge for example). It's upsetting to see innovation and experimentation not pay off while Activision is milking their cows.

Personally I like the hand held GH games for the DS (they are fun to play with two people :D) and will get GH: Modern Hits, but that is it after that No Metallica for me however The Beatles = :) and I will definitely buy that

RB: Beatles is 45 songs all Beatles and The Beatles are better than Metallica extremely IMO

It's more songs for less money than DLC usually costs. Let them flood.

Not everyone finds it that hard to swap discs, and not everyone has a large enough harddrive to deal with getting *all* the DLC.

20 gig 360 + RB DLC + RB1 Exports + trying to use netflix or download movies and demos = no HDD space. Swapping discs isn't that big of a deal.

Plus, GH:WT doesn't exactly incorporate the DLC the way that Rock Band 2 does.

as much as I love Rock Band > Guitar Hero, I am going to be getting GH: Metallica NO questions asked.

Anywho... it might seem like a good idea right now on Activisions behalf to come out with so much... but to me it looks like they are getting desperate and trying to keep their head above the water. I suggest that the TS visits the website Last.fm some time and checks out the charts. Not based on only a few hundred voters, but a few million active listeners!

The Beatles still have more plays in a week, although their last album came out almost 40 years ago (and Metallica made one last year I think). Also, the total number of plays for The Beatles doubles Metallica's number.

So yes, I think there's plenty of people interested in a Beatles game. I know I am :)

Look. I am a metal head. I still think the Beatles will always outshine Metallica. I will get the GH:Metallica game. I Will get the RB:Beatles game, it really isnt about who is a better band, or even a better game for that matter, it is about what i like musically, and what is fun for me and my friends to play.

All this, GH>RB RB>GH CRAP is just lame. To be very honest, i like rb better for it's more realist approach to the game. That being said, more games = more fun for me.

Dude, this is such a recurring thing for not caring, but sadly, this is Harmonix's first time, as they said, that they had to sell a game this widely every where by themselves, of course some games are going to be released later then others.

I was reading up on what little information there is about GH: Modern Hits, and I found out that one of the songs leaked was The Fallen by Franz Ferdinand. At first this annoyed me, because it was yet another song that Activision read my mind to get (after Dimension), but then it's got me a little excited, since Harmonix and Activision, when either makes a game, they seem to agree to share some songs, even if Harmonix releases it as DLC (like All Right Now for GHOT: D), so I'm greatly hoping for a song or two from Franz

I agree. All guitar peripherals to date have had their problems. The Les Paul's neck is too thick for me and makes my wrist hurt after a while, but has an amazing strum and whammy bar. RB2's guitar has a great neck/frets but has a flimsy strum and whammy.

I love the strum bar that so many people complain about. I've heard it's unusable, junk...all kinds of stuff. Somehow it works fine for me. I must be an incredible player! ;)

i like the strum bar, i can strum faster when i need to and it just feels better when i play

GH is going to die a slow painful death with their over saturation of games in the coming years.

I see no shortage of GH rentals coming my way. RB is the game I buy, but GH has now gotten a bit slow and redundant.
