I spent the $189 for the Wii version of your product to give to my kids for Christmas. Part of my purchase decision was the advertising on the box detailing all of the tracks that I would be able to download and purchase at the online store BEFORE the holidays. This is simply not true and is not available.
I realize this has probably been covered in other threads, but I would love to get some kind of official response on how you guys plan to make this up to your customers. I am thinking I will simply return the product and get a refund from the store. I am hoping you have something planned in terms of how you will make it up to your customers and an actual release date. I have a hard time believing you do not have a release date.

xbox 360 and ps3 users were mad at harmonix since they delayed the 20 free dlc for us for over a month.
you will need to be patient like most of us were

When you really think about it this kind of thing always happens.
I know that were not supposed to expect it to happen since they advertise it but companies don't "make things up to people". They will release it sometime with andapology somewhere (probably) and everybody will download it. Thats it.
(Look at the release of LittleBigPlanet for PS3, it was one of the most anticipated game for a long time and they HAD to hold it back because of one song that was inapropriate. The makers didnt make up for that delay.)

Sure I can be patient, not sure my kids will. It would be nice if the company would not advertise things that simply are not true.

It does always happen, and it is truly sad. As a software engineer myself, I understand the pressure of shipping versus meeting quality goals. However, you do not advertise something on a product released days before Christmas knowing you could not deliver.

I think in all fairness you should have been aware of the problems associated with DLC for the wii. There are several places you could have researched other than the side of a box.

Given that I have NEVER had to research a game before I do not agree.. Simply trusting what is printed on the packaging of a product should be more than enough. It amazes me what people are willing to put up with simply because it is software or a game. At the end of a day, advertising is a promise, companies choose to honor them or not... In this case, not...

You obviously have never been involved with such an anticipated product that had such a massive marketing push behind it. Just because it didn't happen doesn't mean that they shipped out the product saying "oh well, the box says "A", but we know i wont happen...big deal"...Surely they worked hard to try and meet the need and hit some problems after the fact.
You still get 84 songs. Try playing thpse first, working up to expert, and finish them, before worrying about more songs.

lol - No, advertising is NOT a promise, in any way.
Do you wake up one day and say "hey, Im gonna go buy a car" walk into the first dealership, plunk down the cash and drive off?
Do you decide to buy a house one day, find the first one with a "for Sale" sign on the lawn, and buy it?
If you do not research the item(s) you intend to invest considerable money into prior to the purchase, then you lose the right to complain about problems.
I spent 8 months researching electronic drum sets before buying one to replace my acoustic set, so I could play at home.
I spent 4 months researching every possible 60"+ LCD screen I could find, before choosing a 61" Samsung 1080p.
Learn to plan before dropping money and then complaining.

I do not remember Apple missing on the iPhone, I do not remember Nintendo missing on the FIT... I am well aware of high profile tech releases, I am also well aware of software projects in general. Bottom line here, it seems to me that they found bugs and shipped anyway, reminds me of the Microsoft model. Many people see no problem with this strategy, get what you have to the market no matter what, I do not happen to be one of them. When I spend close to $200 for a game, which is almost more than I paid for the console that it runs on I expect at a MINIMUM it does what the box says it will do...
Seems to me a reasonable compromise would be to put the actual release date on the front page of their web site... It is a great product, kids love it, I am glad they are happy with it.. If it was a $50 game I could care less, but given the cost, I expect them to deliver what they advertise..

It is a promise... If Toyota advertises that a car is a hybrid and it is not, then there is a problem. If the seller advertises a three bedroom house and it is a two bedroom house, there is a problem.. No I am not going to spend 8 months researching products, I expect what is advertised to be true, when it is not, I am going to point it out. $200 for a game that does not work as advertised gives me a right to complain. Planning has little to do with this...

Maybe you should've researched you console a little better. srsly, you should be happy they are even bothering with DLC for the wii.
ps There were problems with the iphone at launch as well. Actually just reading what your posting leads me to believe your pretty much a sheeple who will buy any trend "advertised" to you.

Sometimes unexpected delays "pop-up." Wii has just introduced DLC and some unexpected difficulties appeared trying to get it out. The songs will be available first quarter '09 (many sources say Jan. 5, but this has not been verified).

Then I feel really bad for your kids. Honestly - Jumping up and spending cash without research is a losing concept.
Hope your kids don't grow up with that mentality.
and yes, the iPhone DID have many...many...MANY problems upon release.

Nice flame.. My console is a toy for my children, I am simply expecting a company to deliver on what they advertise. What were the issues with the iPhone at launch? I do not remember any given that I bought my phone on launch day... What were the problems with the FIT on launch day? Oh wait there were not any...
I should be happy that a company is creating a product for the most popular console on the market? Yeah right, this is all about a company living up to their commitments. Again, some people are not bothered by this, but I am one who is.. If you are ok with this, then go on your merry way and be happy..

Lets all just agree on a couple things here.
1. It would be nice if the DLC was here already but it isn't. 2. The box does not say "before holiday 2008".
3. We probably all have better things to do than sit at a computer and argue with people we will probably never meet in real life or even be able to change the opinions there of. In the end we will all say and think what ever we feel like because on the internet everyone sees themselves as equal or superior to every other individual on the internet.
PS I just thought of a really mean joke about your kids but I don't feel like being harassed online by forum moderators because someone might get a little to sensitive over it.
