Hi there,
sorry for my poor english, im french.
Im on the PS3, my console is connected to the net... i have my profile and all but i just can't connect to the Music Store since the 27 november.
Im from Quebec, Canada. When i try to go on the Music Store i get this message :
"No Rock Band Music Store data found. Connecting to the Rock Band Music Store may be disabled on your PLAYSTATION Network due to parental control restriction"
But, the point is that I am the owner of the console and im the owner of the Playstation Network Account (and im an adult by the way).
Also, Everyone that I know here in Quebec all have this issue (those who have it on the PS3)
SO! Will we finaly have an answer from someone? We all have this problem (Quebec, Canada) since the 27 november on the PS3... We are customer, not money bag.

I confirm that I'm also experiencing the same problem. When I'm trying to connect to the in-game music store, Rockband is giving me the same alert as the above post. I'm located in Montreal and using the PS3 version of Rockband 2.

I live in quebec to and have the same trouble the only way to download new songs is to download them with my rb1 and then t rb2 et voila !

But what is the point of keeping RB1 when you download and pay extra $ for the patch to do the transfer....... I get rid of RB1 cause of the patch and that the RB2 have a music store.... But it still not work and EA gives a poor customer service.... It's been a month now that this issu is up...We payed for the damn game so they need to make it work!
What's up EA? Iv'e canceled my WAR account cause of your low customer service and that you don,t give answers to technical probleme questions...... Now on the RB franchise?!? Is the answer of our problem is GH World tour?
I really hope that you'll fix this problem ASAP
They are a lot of fan's in Quebec that ask to get they're money to work ;)
Thanks
Frank

I live in montréal to and I just checked, the store works perfectly for me. My ISP is videotron. My PS3 is connected wirlessly.
According to a few other post I've seen, it seems to be an issue with "parental control" on the account you are using when you lanch Rock Band. Check out other posts about it and good luck !!

Nolaws, i would like to know the following :
When you did create your user on the PSN,
was it on a french or English Canada account ?
Seems that all of us (French Canadian accounts only)
are having this damn issue.
Can't believe that EA could make a lot of easy money
with us and they don't want to ...

I too suffer the same issue. And as you could guess living in Quebec with a french PSN account.
The fact that this has been repeatedly posted here since November 27th and EA/Harmonix has failed to acknowledge the problem on these forums only points to two possibilities:
They are aware of the problem but just don't care because french Canadians is a small market
Nobody from EA/Harmonix actually read the official Game Tech Support forum of RB2 (that is quite a shame).
Either way, I don't see this being fixed soon (ever?)
Ah... et puisque nous sommes visiblement entre nous, je vous souhaite une bonne année.

Well, i don't know if it's a PSN or HMX issue,
but i think it could be fixed easily, damn i don't
understand what's going on here, we're still in North-America
as i know ...
BTW, bonne année a toi aussi, prosperité, santé et ...Rock Band !

Well, I don't think it's a Sony issue since RB2 DLC is working fine in the official PSN store (accessed via the XMB), and on top of this from what others are posting, the RB1 in-game store still works. So it appears only the RB2 in-game store is broken.
It does indeed seem easy to fix from where we are although we never now. But I don't think this is the issue. Posting on this forum to say they are aware of the problem and working on a fix would even be faster but they don't do it.

English or french is not the reason of this problem.
The adress of your account is.
So just creat a new a new login account in your PS3, put anything you want as info, but the address, city, state , zip code and most important that your country is USA as if your livin in the USA.
You will be able to go to the music store with this account, not your original but the song you will buy will be added to both accounts.
I'm from Québec too, french console, one french account and one english. So don't bother with language and was able to go to the store like this.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Happy new year.

Hey Pedro, hate to contradict, but if you read that thread: http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102790, you will see that Canadian english PSN account don't suffer from that issue.
So yeah, sure, creating an account with a US address works but that still doesn't mean it's solely a territory issue.

Didn't read that post wcoyote77, but your right.
Maybe it's the game itself. Since a lot of people bought the 'non-legal' game here in Québec, just like I did, cause it was so long to come out. Non-legal since there is no french language in it. Maybe the legit one doesn't have this issue ? Don't know anyone with a legal one to see.

That is an interesting theory, however, I doubt it's the problem because:
I bought my copy from Amazon.ca which gets its copies legally shipped by EA Canada, this is perfectly legit. Amazon has all right to ship to any province. The only thing that is against the law is selling such a copy within the province without its french booklet.
I really doubt Harmonix/EA would bother making a specific SKU for QC. I am a game developer and usually you make one submission per territory at most (one for EMEA, one for NA and one for Asia and usually you try to make a world submission - while this is not possible with Sony however). The only difference with QC is that the retailer or distributor adds the french manual in or outside the box. So the discs are the same.
French speaking people outside QC (like Ontario) who are not affected by this Quebec law suffer the same problem, have the same discs and should still be allowed to have access to the store.

UPDATE Part 2
When i cerated my US account everything was fine to go in the rockband music store.... But when i've tryed to purchase a song, it did'nt work cause of the adresse and my credit card info... (it's a no match so it's not working)
Here's what i did to finnaly get it to work
What i did next is RE-Create a new account with my REAL INFOS (my real can adresse) BUT, instead of FRENCH as my language i put ENGLISH... And it worked.... I enterded the music store and bought a song... Everything's fine
So if this is not a case of discrimination it is ****ing BS

The only down side is that my purchaded songs with my real account (the french one) don't appeared in my music store as "purchased" in my English account...
But the song is in the game... both with my french and english account

English message will follow...
Salut,
Merci!
Hello everyone,
I was just wondering , for avoiding that problem everyone is talking about, would it be safer for me to buy / download all the content i see for RB2 in Playstation Store before I install & update the game?
Thx!

I don't think it's a good idea.
BTW, even if you install Rock Band 2 prior
to buy songs for it, you still can buy those songs
from the Playstation store.
The Rock Band 2 music store will allow
you the preview those songs, to see how
hard they could be in the gameplay ect.
All those options are not possible from the
Playstation store, but you still can buy all
of them.

I just want to avoid the problem everyone is having here, not able to get the DLC

You will have access to the DLC from
the Playstation store like every
demo, theme, add-on content.
But not trough the Rock Band 2 music store from the gamedisc.
Which allow you to hear a preview of every song.
Is your PS3 account built on a French-Canadian one ?

thats what i dont remember...i know its in french now, not sure....but in the worst case, i can recreate my account in english. i have my PS3 since Dec 23rd only.
Same here and seeing all the threads about that and no answer from EA/MTV/HMX, not even a "we're working on it", i'm thinking about a plot against french canadians. ;)
I'm having the RB1 disc and the Store is fully functionnal.
I have seen the Store a couple times in RB2 but it was outdated. It disappeared after the late november patch.
Come on! Let us know that you're working on it and we'll stop whining.
I'll buy the Roy Orbison pack...
I'll go visit Boston... for the third time.
And pay you a beer at Beer Works.
Please! :D

lol
like i told in this topic.
re-create an acount with "english" as your language and Voilà ;)
the only down side is that you'll need a new e-mail adress and that you wont see the songs that you downloaded in RB1 as "purchased" with your new account ;)

Can't access the music store via the RB2 game ok I have the same problem here, I'm french canadian from quebec. Why create another account and blablabla just to get access to the music store, you can still get the DLC through the Playstation Store so until that problem is fixed you can do that and if you really need a preview of the song, as far as i know youve got internet so youtube it! Et voila! haha

Can I delete my actual account and recreate it under English instead and keep the same user?

I have RB2 for PS3 and the Music Store doesn’t work for me too, I have the same error message as you guys: No music store data found … parental control blablabla… I live in Quebec (Canada) and my PSN account is in French...
It would be really great if someone from the technical support could explain to us what is going on with this…

Yeah, since the Wii store is up, what about the french-Canadian one ?
HMX we need an official word on this issue.

They probably locked it to customers from Quebec because the store is not bilingual. Any store operating in Quebec has to have at the very least bilingual displays, or French only. I'm not sure how this transposes for online stores, as the laws are always behind the technology, but EA (which has a division in Montreal) is probably avoiding problems since Quebec customers already have a valid bilingual alternative, which is the PSN store.
It would be nice to get a statement though, as a lot of people see this as "the music store is broken".

Nope, absolutely nothing. I'm not sure what the hold up is. It's not like they'd actually have to fix it since there's a valid workaround.
