View Full Version : Bubble Fix for Rock Band 2 drums?

So i've had rock band 2 for about 4 weeks now, and i've already developed major bubbles forming in the yellow, red, and blue drum pads on my EL set with my green pad being completely fine. Taping just doesn't seem to cut it as it continues to pop up, causing me to have to retape it every few sessions.

I'm thinking of RMA'ing my drum pads(Does anyone know how long it usually takes for RMA`s to ship?), waiting for a new set and when i receive it, putting on Drumsoft MCU drum protectors over top to ensure that this will never happen again.
Here are the drum protecters: http://www.rockbanddrumsoft.com/

However i'm kinda confused between the difference between drum "skins" and drum "silencers". Do you replace the actual rock band 2 drum pad rubber with the new pad for drum skins? and silencers and protectors are merely placed on top of the existing rubber?
If this is so, i was wondering what you guys would think about using the official rock band 2 drum skins from this site:
http://www.rockbandstore.com/detail.php?p=65465&v=rbs2_gear_xbox-360_drum while just putting the Drumsoft protectors over top of them.

This overall sucks hugely with the whole RMA process and having to spend so much more money just to fix a set that should be great right out of the box.
Any advice or info would be much appreciated!

P.S. My pedal broke too in my transition to expert, but instead of RMAing the pedal, i was thinking of buying the Destroyer Pedal which ive heard never breaks and is great for harder songs.
Any thoughts!

I've heard the rb official drum silencers work with all rb 2 sets. I have the same bubble problem on my red pad and it's starting to cause the rubber to peel at the top. may as well spend 20 $ replacing it since I already got a free set RMA'ing and the warranty is def expired on this set.

I use the destroyer pedal and I enjoy it however it takes a little bit of adjusting to get the pedal to feel like a real drum pedal. The sensor is set in a spot where I notice my foot is much higher up than it usually is compared to a real drum set. I haven't had any problems with the pedal since I've gotten it 2 months ago and it's way easier to perform double and triple hits with the pedal compared to the stock one when you get used to it.
