so i just sent this letter out to any email address i can, a little bit out of rage, im not trying to hate on harmonix, ea or anything, they designed this whole concept for a game and are just experiencing some issues and are taking care of them all, do you guys think i went too hard on them?

To: whomever this concerns

Sorry ahead of time, im sure you are getting a lot of emails daily. I have been looking for some answers ever since rock band was released. My name is -albinousrex-, i am a very loyal fan of all of your games owning kareoke revolution, both guitar hero 1 and 2, and now rock band. I have been very satisfied with everything until now. I understand that nothing is perfect and problems occur and in no way is this meant to be an angry email, just one looking for answers. I am constantly replying in the Rock Band forums trying to get people to understand what is going on and to calm them down. Anyways, i love rock band and think it is a great game with great potential. My concern is the hardware which you may have guessed. I do not know if you knew or didnt know about these issues before the game shipped but with all the testing you did (or should have been doing) this problem should have been avoided. After 1 and a half days of playing Rock Band, i felt a pinch on my foot and heard a crack and before i knew it, i had three pieces under my feet, a spring, a petal, and a rectangular unit with a cord in it. Not something i was expecting at all. I thought that maybe the petal had snapped out from its position, but upon further speculation, i noticed that the plastic had cracked and the petal was done. I have already applied for a new onea dn am in no way complaining about the time like most people probably are. I just want to know if i will be recieving a newly designed and reinforced petal that wont break on me. I will tell you that mine was not just a fluke thing in any way. I hear from hundreds of people who have either broken a foot petal, drum set, or like most complaints, the guitars downstrum wont register. I consider myself lucky not to have that problem yet. I see fans creating hardware that you failed to create. Things that were your job but guess whos making the money? the fans are. I just saw a metal reinforced drum petal kit on ebay for 15 dollars, and am very tempted to buy it. I know that it will void my warrenty and i am willing to go that way if its a nice petal that isnt likely to break, or having to keep sending in broken ones. If you redesign a petal, which is something that needs to be done, i will be very happy. otherwise i will just be another one of those angry customers to add to the bag. What fun is a 170 dollar piece of junk sitting in my basement that doesnt work. I dont want to feel like my money is wasted and to tell you the truth, thats how i feel now. Now if you guys do something about it, and create new hardware for the game, then forget everything i said and i will say that my money was well spent. That proves you a superior company. One that can openly admit to your problems and correct them. Now if you just ignore the problem, think "oh that will never happen again" then something is majorly wrong. Even though this is a hassle to send stuff back, you are the ones taking a hit on it. I know that you dont want to be paying for eveyone to recieve double equiptment when it isnt necessary. If we could just turn the page, and say look it was a mistake. Similar problems occured with the first guitar hero guitar but i do not think it was as widescale as this which is why it took till the second game to get it fixed. Also, you knew that some guitars from the first game had problems and no press release was ever given as to how things were being handled. I hope you have learned and will do something this time. I really hope that you take the time to read my letter and give me an honest response back. If you are not the right people, could you please forward it to a supervisor or higherup who can look it over and give a thoughtfull response or even send me an email of the place where i should send it. I dont want this letter treated like garbage where i get an auto response back from some computer or even a response from an uninformed employee stating the issue is not known. I know very well that you know of this issue and woudl appreciate answers. I have taken time out of my life to write this about your product and frankly, i think that i am doing you a favor here. The consumer, the reason you are in business, telling you what you have done wrong here and how to correct it. I am a well valued member of the rock band community and hope that i can help you to pass on answers to other members and calm down their anger. This is not a hate letter of any kind and i hope is treated with all of the respect you have.

Sincerely,

-albinousrex-

P.S. this is a direct quote from the rock band review on ign that was released 4 days before launch:

"As sturdy as the drumpad feels, we do have some concerns about the kick pedal. During my play time, I had a pre-production foot pedal snap in half during a particularly driving session of Bon Jovi's Wanted Dead or Alive on expert. Admittedly, the song does feature a lot of bass drum, but the problem seems to be more of an engineering design flaw than anything else. The kick pedal is surprisingly thin around the main pressure point in the middle where the spring meets the underside surface of the pedal itself. While there are criss-crossing lines of plastic cross-hatching the bottom of the pedal, it appears that the area around the pressure point is the least enforced, and thus our pedal snapped in half right where the spring meets the pedal.

Although the production pedal does look like it was reinforced in places with thicker plastic tubes and extra screws over the pre-production model, it didn't look like the main pressure point where the spring meets the pedal has been altered at all. We haven't had a problem with the production pedal yet, but it is a concern for the future, as it definitely looks like the most vulnerable part of the entire drum set."

This is what happened to mine on a production petal and i know it had happened to others as i have posted a thread on forums getting at leave 15 responses of people experiencing the same thing.

P.P.S. this is a solution made by a fan to one of your problems:

Good points, but a bit too nice. Especially considering the fact that they didn't even bother to inform all of us with problems last week that UPS was off and that we wouldn't be getting our products for an extra few days. I mean is it outrageous that it takes a few extra days, well yes considering what it tells you on the website, but all probably could have been forgiven by most if they at least could have told us last week or whenever the person ordered it instead of making them wait days on end for a mysterious "confirmation e-mail" that no one ever got.

Dude, have you heard of paragraphs, spell check, and/or grammar??

I read a couple sentences and just gave up. I know you're frustrated...and a letter/email of this nature might be appropriate...but I have a feeling that if you get any kind of response it will be the most generic piece of crap apology because the guy on the other end doesn't feel like getting a headache.

Sorry to be harsh on your writing, but you should proof-read something if you want it to be taken seriously.

A few problems that just jumped out at me include Karaoke misspelled (come on, if you own the game just look at the box!) and sporradic capitalization of "I". Also the fact that there are no paragraph separations and probably a few run-on sentences just makes it hard to read.

P.S. - I'm a Math/Science guy, and I hate grammar but it's a necessity.

It sucks that the game shipped with sub-standard peripherals, and I'm mad about it; However, the shipping guidelines are the same for anything you ship, EVER, in your entire life. Packages don't get delivered or sent during holidays. Why EA/HMX decided to release this game the day before a major holiday weekend is another question entirely especially considering they had some forewarning about hardware reliability.

UPS took an extended holiday, not just Thursday off, which is part of the issue. I know I got mail today but UPS apparently was sitting on their asses.
