1960 - Johnny Cash played the first of many free concerts behind bars when he entertained the inmates of San Quentin Prison.
1962 - Decca Records turned down The Beatles for a record contract preferring instead to sign Brian Poole and the Tremoloes.
1970 - Jimi Hendix' Band of Gypsy's end the show suddenly in front of 19,000 fans at a peace rally when Hendrix says, "I'm sorry we just can't get it together." It was the bands second perfromance.
1972 - Marc Bolan signs a deal with EMI to release records in the UK on his own T. Rex Wax Co. label.
1972 - Alice Cooper's album Killer reaches #21 cementing the bands success.
1977 - The Clash play the opening night of The Roxy Club in London
1979 - The Cars are voted Best New Band of the Year in Rolling Stone
1990 - WKRL a radio station in Florida plays Stairway To Heaven for 24 hours as a prelude to switching to an all Led Zeppelin format.
