I purchased one on the 20th and Drums stopped working and Strum went out. Picked up another bundle to use while waiting for new parts on the 23rd and the Strum went out on that one as well .. also an OCT. 17th. Just a heads up.

Other than those issues I can honestly say this is the most fun I have ever had with a game and being one of the older gamers on the board I have played quite a bit through the years and this thing is an absolute blast. Thanks Harmonix.

My bundle says September 27, 2007.

Guitar, drums, and mic work flawlessly.

Yeah, there seems to be a trend with the october releases :-(

I've got a Oct 15th bundle too. It gave out after 3 days of light/moderate use. I sent up my replacement request on Saturday and still awaiting for it to be shipped.

Mine is Sept 27 and the drums came DOA. I haven't played the guitar much, but it feels like it is starting to mess up.

I gots october 17th, and everything works great. I had to learn how to strum the guitar more like a real guitar rather than like the gh guitars. my fiancee was playing and it wasn't picking up the strum, and then i tried it and got 100% on the easy song she was playing. it was all in how she was strumming. i gave her a guitar pick instead of strumming with thumb and she got it to work better. i think fundamentally a lot of people are strumming wrong. i dont think strumming like you used to with x-plorer or les paul works good for this guitar. i find it strumming like a real guitar motion works really well.

That's a good theory but an incorrect one.. I play guitar as well and tend to strum like a real guitar. Still crapped out. After reading a lot of these posts about people possibly being to hard on the guitar with the second guitar I was ridiculously soft on the strummer and it still has given out.

If they made a guitar that needs to be played differently than the industry standard that they set by the way..it is ridiculously stupid.

I agree completely...most people who are going to play this game have played some incarnation of Guitar Hero and would therefor have an automatic tendency to handle this guitar in a similar fashion (i.e. slamming the strum bar). If they expect us to baby this guitar there should be some sort of obvious instruction to this effect.

Also, using a guitar pick sounds like a good idea that I hadn't thought of...I'll have to try that when I get home, although I think my guitar is already beyond help.

I don't think it has anything to do with that. Mine is Sept 28th and the guitar was DOA (strum bar). I think it is design flaw.

I think right down to it the guitars aren't made very well. But trying to strum it like a real guitar has been working rather well for me compared to how I would push the bar on gh, rather than strum the bar, and it hasn't crapped out.

I know guitar hero is established and so is the strumming and was started by HMX, but I don't think it's stupid if they are trying to change the industry standard. I give them props for taking the bold move to try something different and making it more realistic. I think that being more like a real guitar would be a better standard than the current industry standard of basically a flipper 'button'. I mean they did add the new lower keys, and a 5 way switch, should they take that away because it's different than the industry standard?

Its like the wii. previous controllers works just fine, but nintendo decided to try something different and switch it up, now look where they are.

However, I do think if they are going to try something new and different, they should've at least made the product reliable and sturdy enough to be handled the old industry standard way.

i think mine's OCT 16, guitar died out of the box, but the drums and mix are perfect.

I think that's a bit of a stretch.. we are talking about the strumming input of this game... not gimmicky add ons.. yeah they are great but not really as essential as a working strum bar would be.

I do agree with you on that point Nintendo tried something new and different but they took more than 5mins to perfect it and they work flawlessly. If this new strum set up was made to be played differently but worked flawlessly then we all would be enjoying our games and not waiting to see if we made the random guitar shipment lottery.
