Okay, I'm setting up this thread to discuss the lesser talked about bands in hopes of bringing some to the attention of Harmonix members. Let's make this the place to discuss all the bands that we want to see that are not mentioned all that often on these forums. Please stay away from groups that we see a tonne of messages about, such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Tool, Queen, AC/DC, etc. We all know that everybody wants to see those bands. But let's talk about lesser spoken of bands and why we want to see them included in Rock Band. If you disagree with anybody's selections please state why you don't believe they'll work, none of this "that bnad 1s th3 suXX0r". Be articulate in your arguements for and against inclusion in future DLC. I'll get the ball rolling here.
Please note that just because a band is famous doesn't disclude it from discussion here, I'd just like to stay away from the bands that get a million topics of their own all the time.
1) JETHRO TULL:
Notable songs for inclusion:
Nothing Is Easy
***** Willow
Black Sunday
Sweet Dream
Cross-Eyed Mary
Minstrel In The Gallery
Budapest
Kissing Willie
Farm On The Freeway
Why?
Quite simply Jethro Tull plays some indredibly well-written music. Each instrument has a good part to it (maybe not incredibly complex, but sounds like it would be fun to play). Before people come in here and go "This isn't flute hero", the flute is not essential to the songs, and comes in when the vocalist takes a breather. It'd be much like keyboard. Nobody's playing it, but it's there. Jethro Tull should not be excluded just because of the flute. For those guitarists out there, Martin Barre can play guitar incredibly well and is easily one of the most underrated guitarists alive.
GENESIS:
Notable songs for inclusion:
Land Of Confusion
The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway
The Carpet Crawlers 1999
Jesus He Knows Me
Los Endos
Dance On A Volcano
Squonk
Congo
Home By The Sea/Second Home By The Sea
Why?
When most people think of Genesis they think of poppy stuff like "Invisible Touch" and "We Can't Dance". Well, Genesis actually began life as a Prog-Rock group doing some really complex and great stuff. The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway and A Trick Of The Tail are both perfect examples of Genesis in their prime. All of the players are at their best and the writing is superb. All of the above noted songs would be fun to play, although not very challenging (who said all DLC has to be challenging?). I chose the 1999 version of "The Carpet Crawlers" because it has a fuller sound than the original did. I have not included anything prior to The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway because I'm not entirely familiar with that era yet and would rather have someone else comment on it who is more knowledgeable. Some of the pop-era stuff is included because it sounds fun to play.
JUDAS PRIEST:
Notable songs for inclusion:
A Touch Of Evil
Painkiller
Victim Of Changes
Devil's Child
The Helion/Electric Eye
Living After Midnight
Breaking The Law
Worth Fighting For
Angel
Why?
Judas Priest, while discussed often a while ago, seems to get very little love from metal fans on these boards, especially when compared to contemporaries like Black Sabbath. While the Bass is weak (Ian Hill isn't that great of a bassist, but he does hold things together) the rest is superb. The songs listed above (with the exception of Angel) would provide an excellent challenge for vocalists and guitarists alike. Angel, meanwhile, would provide a challenge to vocalists with it's operatic vocals
SKID ROW:
Notable songs for inclusion:
18 And Life
Rattlesnake Shake
Youth Gone Wild
Why?
While I've only listed 3 songs (as I'm only familiar with the album "Skid Row") I think these sound like a tonne of fun to play. I know 18 And Life on the guitar was a tonne of fun. Anyways, they sound like great fun
I'll have to finish up there for right now, I'll add more when I get an opportunity. Please feel free to analyze my choices and add your own. Obscure bands are welcome here, but please articulate why you believe that they'll work in Rock Band

Where's teh Aqualung?
The title of the thread says it all. While Aqualung is a cool song, there's so much more to Jethro Tull, and I'd much rather see any of the listed songs rather than Aqualung. I'm trying to stay away from the norm here. Sometimes that's impossible (see Skid Row) because I don't know much about the band outside the norm, but when I can I pick the more interesting over the more well-known

You definetely have the right idea, but you need to expand on it. What songs by those bands do you think will be great for Rock Band. Why do you think those bands/songs would be great

As I said in another thread:
Unfortunately, for most people, Izzy Stradlin is known as that dude who quit Guns N' Roses at the height of their popularity, but for some of us his first solo effort is arguably one of the greatest -- and unquestionably one of the most underrated -- album of the '90s. And it's sadly out of print, making it that much harder to introduce this brilliant blues-rock album to new fans.
So I would really love to see Izzy Stradlin & the Ju Ju Hounds as a full downloadable album.
As far as individual songs I would love to play in Rock Band, the following are must-haves:
"Shuffle it All"
"Train Tracks"
"Time Gone By"
"Somebody Knockin'"

Here is a favorite band of mine. Big Country. They are very far from the known, but would be great fun to play.
I made a thread a few weeks ago that died. Go there to check them out.

Sorry for my late reply to your question. Yes, indeed I listed several "popular" bands, my point wasn't necessarily to stray from known bands (But that most certainly is encouraged!) but to stray from the typical bands listed here.
Everybody mentions The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, etc. but there hasn't been a thread about Genesis or Jethro Tull and they are constantly overlooked.
On top of that I threw in a bunch of songs which are not the most popular by the artists (notice the lack of "Aqualung" in the JT set). The point was not to eliminate popular artists but to discuss artists or songs that do not get mentioned on here all that often.
