View Full Version : Shifting calibration values / Variable lag

Is there any truth to shifting calibration values? I have personally experienced calibration shifts between power cycles of the xbox360 version.
My calibration is AV -25 / Lag 58ms through VGA output. Last night I turned on the TV and console and immediately noticed that my calibration was off. I turned off the 360 and got into COD 4 on the ps3 for about 30 minutes, then came back to Rockband and noticed the calibration was dead on.
Thus my question is this a Rockband glitch where a power cycle or game-restart resolves the issue? Or is this some kind of HDTV “warm up” issue, where the latency settles down after x amount of time of being turned on.
That got me thinking….
I doubt it’s the console itself since it would have come to light with guitar hero II. So my suspicions lie either with either the game or the TV.
It could be the TV, but then I remembered that all my lag frustrations with Guitar Hero II were solved when I changed to VGA output cables.
It could be that I didn’t notice in that particular time that the game loaded up with an incorrect profile. I noticed that If I start the console through the controller, and then sit on the drums and load rockband from the dashboard, I don’t log in the game with my LIVE profile, instead it logs in with a Player 1 account that has none of the presets that I specified in the options settings.
Or it could be a game hiccup.
I don’t know, I’m keep on posting on this as time goes by.
Anyone else suspicious on their calibrations presets?

I have a Sony KDF-50E2000 LCD HDTV combined with a 360 bundle running through HDMI without any dolby turned on, to my knowledge.
My calibration will sometimes change mid-SONG, in addition to after restarting the system AND after switching over to another input (to check on football games, etc.). So yeah...I'm having troubles with calibration myself.
I haven't had to set AV or Lag values negative yet - usually starts out +35 or so and just gets worse and worse (have to manually add) as my play session goes longer and longer.
Very annoying.

I've been having the same problem for the last couple of nights. After 4 or 5 songs I notice that the song and video are no longer in sync, so I've had to go back and recalibrate every few songs. It also seems to change mid-song sometimes. I don't know what causes it, but I know it causes me to become very irritated when I start missing notes that I know I'm hitting on the drum pads and the guitar. Very annoying!

I remembered posting here a few weeks back and wanted to add another little bit of information.
I played BWT this weekend extensively with my cousin (guitar and bass) and I noticed on my Sony KDF-50E2000 LCD HDTV that the audio/video would go out of sync rather quickly. Usually we'd go 3-4 songs before it became really noticeable. I'd be the first to notice on bass, usually, especially during long 16th note strings, where I knew I was playing with the beat of the song, but was completely missing the notes.
We initially tried recalibrating every few songs, but eventually noticed that changing the Input from my HDMI2 port to "Cable" or any other input source, then back to the 360 input would re-sync things on its own without having to recalibrate. So I'd just make sure to change inputs back and forth every 2-3 songs to get things right again.
I'm not sure if it's my model of TV specifically that causes it to gradually fall completely out of sync with the game or some combination of the game and my TV, but at least I've found a semi-solution.
I hope it's something that works for others having this problem.
