Sean Taylor died Monday night after gunshot wounds he received during a break-in.

Taylor was really the reason to watch Redskins football, and he'll be missed. Of course if you hate the Redskins this is probably just opening the gates to some off-color comments, but still it's a sad day for the maroon team.

what is crazy is the fact that at 24 years old, he had already been in the league for 4 years and he went to the probowl last year. This sucks. Why are people so damn stupid?

Really if anything it just points out what type of crazy life celebrities (particularly pro-athletes with the crazed fans and rivalries) lead. He had been broken into the week prior too; I can't imagine having to deal with that on a weekly basis.

No one from athletes to celebrities to average joes deserves that. He had a kid daughter as well. :(

man that is horrible---especially if it was a break in
what I mean by that: some celebs have died in horrible ways because they hung out with the wrong crowd and supported the wrong behaivor---tragic, sad but some of the blame can be placed on the celeb for lifting up that life style then getting taken by it----this dude, from what little I know, wasn't doing that but got taken down because some idiot wanted to raid his house----that is horrible----kind of like that one pop singer in the 80's who was shot by her fan club manager....some people unfortunately can't do enough stuff to protect themselves because you never know where the freaks will come from--I hope his daughter has a good support system--I can only imagine how crushing that is :-(

Yeah---really sad that people sometimes can't avoid criminals and get hurt no matter the precautions the take :-(

If there's one lesson here it's not to confront a burglar with a machette, confront them with a .45 and shoot first. Better judged by 12 than carried by 6.

The first thing that came to my mind was John Lennon, then I realized it was just a crazy fan that shot him and not his fan club manager.

Then again, the "she" should have tipped me off that this guy wasn't talking about John Lennon....

This is terrible without a doubt... not only was he an amazing player, but from what I've heard about him he was was turning his life around... he had been in trouble a few years earlier and he was really making a great effort in staying out of trouble then something like this happens... it reminds me of the Bronco corner (Darrent Williams) who was accidentally gunned down at a night club last year, he was only 24 as well... absolutely tragic

this came as a huge shock to me today. Being a Miami Hurricanes fan I remember his days in college. May he R.I.P.

First, let me start off by saying that my thoughts and prayers are with his family. It is always a tragedy when parents have to bury their children. My grandparents had to bury my aunt when she was 24 in 1984 and when I asked my grandma how she feels about it today, she said the pain doesn't and won't ever go away. That is something that his mother will have to deal with the rest of her life.

Second, it is an even bigger tragedy because he was on the right track to clear his slate of "thuggush" behavior in the past. He has had a run in with some questionable characters in the same area in which he was shot. He got arrested for brandishing a weapon and pistol whipping someone repeatedly over some stolen ATV's. The fact that he had a machete instead of a gun shows that he had ditched the firearms. He WAS trying to walk the straight and narrow. The only misstep on his part now is that he didn't move from the area of incident. The fact that this would have been the THIRD time he was robbed shows that the best way to have prevented this would be to pack it up and move.

It is a shame. I enjoyed watching him fly to the ball. If you look at the stats, T.O. never recorded a 100 yard game against a secondary with him in the lineup.

Edit: sa_nick, I'm curious as to what your theory is on that kind of situation. (In a non-flame sorta way. I don't want to discuss, I'm just curious.)
