I haven't purchased any DLC yet - I will probably pick up the Bowie and Police songs and will definitely purchase "Who's Next" the second I see it. My question is to those have already purchased and played some DLC.
What do you think of the job that they did with the DLC? Are the songs up to par with the songs in the full game as far as charting and presentation? Do they seem rushed or scaled down in any way?
Thanks for any input.

i have My Sharona and Fortunate Son. They are just as great as the other songs in the game. Nothing more, nothing less.

I think they've done a great job so far. I picked up Bang a Gong and Joker and the Thief last night, David Bowie this morning, and Roxanne, Fortunate Son, Juke Box Hero, and My Sharona when the game launched. Harmonix is going to bankrupt me.

I have the Police pack, My Sharona, Fortunate Son, Bang a Gong, and Jukebox Hero. They're all of the same quality as the on-disc tracks, and just as fun. The Fortunate Son cover is a little off on the vocals, but I'm usually singing it anyway, and I'm off on the vox as well ;)
Also, My Sharona is totally one of the most fun songs EVER, as is Roxanne. Probably going to get the Bowie pack tonight, as well.

Stop it! All this talk of DLC I can't download is really upsetting me. I did think that just having the game early compared to the UK release would be enough but how wrong could I be?

Wow, thanks for the encouraging feedback. I guess I'll pony up the dough for pretty much all of the DLC if it plays that well.

Nope, they don't seem rushed at all. The covers are good, and they otherwise feel just like part of the game.
One thing I did notice is that some of the DLC is a lot harder than most in-game songs when played on hard or expert. Personally I think that's great since the game proper is a bit on the easy side, but it might be something to consider. As far as I know there isn't a tier level assigned to any DLC, but a lot of it feels like it would be in the upper half.

I only have one problem with the DLC. After downloading and installing the Metallica pack, my wife and I were playing the BWT and many of the random setlists included the Metallica songs, which were very difficult for her to keep up with compared with the other songs we were playing. I'd like options to turn off/on DLC for BWT, perhaps on the individual song level for granularity. :)

A temporary solution is to delete the content and re-download it later. Not ideal, but it works.

Actually, they do all have a tier assigned to them. You can play them in a single player campaign dedicated to downloadable content found at the bottom of the solo tour mode underneath the bonus song tour.

I've grabbed the metallica, bowie and police packs. aas well as my sharona and fortunate son. The bowie pack was only released today so I haven't played it yet but every song has full tracks for every instrument. Nothing rushed. Full background animation lighting and camera angles. Very well produced.

You can also see all the songs, bonus, DLC, and Regular, grouped in order of difficulty if you go to the Band By Song leaderboard. Very handy for everyone's Rock Band iTunes playlists.

Queens of the Stone Age pack kicks all ass! I love it. Joker and the Thief is crazy on the guitar. My Sharona is a blast to play all across the board. The rest that I downloaded are cool too. Lovin' it so far...

I can't think of a more deserving company to clean me out and leave me in the poor house! I've bought The metallica pack...hard
I've also bought 3s and 7s, Little Sister, Synchonicity II, Fortunate Son, Juke Box Hero, My Sharona and Joker and the Thief...They're all great.
I'll definitely buy Who's Next in it entirety and I'll buy at least the first half of Nevermind...maybe all. I'll buy the Black Sabbath stuff...I'm not really a huge Bowie fan, so I'm not thinking of tossing any dough at that. Space Oddity is a really annoying song...and it's not even in that pack, and all the rest of his songs (except Ziggy and Suffragette) are less attractive to me than Space Oddity...If that made any sense at all.
I love the idea of getting new songs all the time!
DLC FTW!
Actually Joker and the Thief was a song that I listened to on Napster when it was first announced as DLC (cause I had never heard it before) and absolutely loved it! I have no F%&#ing clue what it is supposed to be about, but the lyrics are awesome in their ambiguity!

I like to think it's about getting a "rusty trombone" but then again I'm not normal.

Everyone has their own tastes but Heroes is such a classic epic track and at ~6:30 is a great DLC value too. If you haven't already, you should give it a listen and see if it grows on you. The guitar will definitely not provide a hardcore challenge, but the whole thing looks very fun.

i honestly think the DLC is excellent.. they don't seem rushed at all, and with every song that you download - it's added to your Solo Tour mode, and in BWT it may be added into "random set lists" which in my opinion is awesome.. plus you can add them to your make a set list as well, they aren't just "extra songs" like in GH2, they actually become part of the game when you download them
i personally think the fortunate son cover is really good.. joker & the thief is incredibly fun.. and my sharona is just too good not to own, it's easily one of the funnest and funniest songs to play with a group of people.. the metallica pack is also great..

BTW was anyone knocked on their ass by my sharona's guitar solo? Such a easy song then BAM crazy wicked solo that you will likely fail first time through.
