G4 is going to be broadcasting all of the major E3 keynotes live, starting with the Microsoft keynote at 11pm EST Tuesday. Be sure to set up your Tivo or other such recording device to grab not only the Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony keynotes, but also their Day 1/2/3 coverage they'll be doing after such press conferences. That way, you can fast forward past the bits of people chatting and get straight to the bits where they're showing awesome new games like Rock Band!

I vote no. This board has not grown too big yet, and quite frankly there is going to be too much disparate information coming in from E3 over the next week to cram it into a single 50-page thread.

I have appreciated that each of the articles that came out this week got discussed in their own thread. It made it easy for me to find information that was new to me.

On the invite it says no cameras. Does that mean people like GameSpot can't take in their professional cameras and hosts to do a report on it... Or just that individuals cant take in crappy cameras to film whatever they like.

I'm hoping there is a good amount of coverage though. Or even if Harmonix got people to film the event, that'd be cool. I just wanna see it!!

I'm not sure. It does say that filming will be allowed during the party, so we'll still be seeing footage from i'm guessing G4 that night and IGN in the morning the next day. I wonder if anything will be posted on the main site here?

my thoughts on what we'll see wednesday night:
we'll see videos of people playing the song (Don't Fear) The Reaper, complete with Gene Frenkle on cowbell. MTV Games will also announce 2 more songs by big current artists (probably a popular band of today) and that band will come out and play that song on the game.

things we'll see the next day:
additional videos showing just partial screen footage of all announced songs (probably 2 minutes of footage for each song)

we'll see 2 full length, high-res videos of people playing a couple of songs

an in-depth look in at the drums peripheral. the person will then show himself playing a song, probably something easy like Paranoid on expert or hard to show it's real difficulty.

an in-depth look in at the guitar controller and microphone.

we'll see lots of example of free form jam session things

Me too. Even though I've been playing drums off and on for about 7 years now, I have a feeling I'm going to suck at this game...but the sweet thing is that this game will actually make me a better drummer, and teach non-drummers how to play for real! This is truly one of the best ideas ever.

There could be unique venues for each type of career- guitar, drums, vocals, and band- that would still share the same collection of 50-60 songs or whatever.

I think in the Game Informer article they said they were working on 40+ venues. Also on one of the many recent pre=E3 story's one of the sites mentioned that solo career is a world tour, but they didn't make a big deal about it... I assume it's correct.

@sa_nick- the only thing i know about live coverage for tonight is the Xbox press conference which will be on 2 and a half hours from now.

and@travmeatwad- I have no idea what time exactly it's airing GH3 all the email said was that it would have a live demo at some point tonight.

It could go either way, most of the time these press conferences last for about 90 minutes, and it goes like this:

1. sales talk
2. how much better X is than X console
3. new third party stuff (GH3)
4. first party stuff
5. the big stuff
6. some surprises ("one more thing to show you today, etc. etc.")

They could use a different formula though, we shall see.

Yeah. honestly, I'm amazed that there isn't some huge rivalryt going on in between them. I expected to see exclusive rights being snapped up all over the place, but there's not. It's awesome.

Saw the Main Offender demo a few minutes ago. I'm watching it live from Gamespot at 300kb/s and it was awesome quality. Smooth video good audio.

Drumming looked awesome (yes, I still haven't slept... and its 1:32pm in Aust). Nice to some some faster beats.

Oh dear. I can see he put so much effort into learning how to play beforehand. Kind of ruined it too since we didn't get a big outro. Twould have suited the event very well. What's up with people pausing the game? It also happened in the Mississippi Queen video, twice.

I couldn't really tell if the female vocalist had the horrible distortion effect on her voice like the singer from the original. Twould be good if it automatically applied the appropriate effects to your voice. She didn't need the original vocals backing her up ether. Made it a bit messy.

Anybody know if the pricing's going to be announced at E3 yet?

which explains why it sounded like that. Her voice was overpowered by his voice. I'm sure she's a great singer. Someone should have 'accidentally' turned off his mic. Looking forward to more videos with just her singing next time.
And what's up with G4 going to commercial during the presentation? They cut to commercial after Moore somehow put the game on pause. You could tell it was him by the way they were trying to help him, even mentioning lefty flip on his guitar. They came back after the presentation was over so I missed the rest. I'll have to check out the video on G4 to see what happened next.
And why did it only seem like there was one person in the audience, the Halo fan? It was spooky quiet.

Onto another note from the E3 info from last night. Now I don't want to get into the whole 'Guitar Hero vs Rock Band' thing, but did anyone else find it funny that when they demo'd GH3, they were playing with the wired X-plorer's, but in the Rock Band video they showed the new wireless Fender? Why wouldn't Neversoft/Activision not want to show the new guitar in action I wonder?

EDIT: Okay, that was pretty damn cool. The trailer is to Suffragette City. Theres a mix of the interface and just footage of the band playing. The animation is awesome, the characters don't seem as restricted as they have in the past, they're making good use of the stage. Each band member has clearly defined movements, the chick on bass looks especially cool. The lighting is still awesome, I love it.

A little disappointed to see no footage of people playing the game in high quality with a good look at the peripherals... But still looking damn sweet none the less.

Oh, and the bit where the 3 band members jump up into the air and it goes to slow motion.... awesome. We saw a preview of that in the Welcome to the Jungle video when the song got heavier, but it looks even cooler here.

The Sony press conference just finished and DAMN it was awesome. I've always loved my PS2 but when rumours of RB being xbox exclusive surfaced I looked into the 360 and thought I might choose it as my next gen console for when I buy RB.

After seeing all 3 confrences at E3 (Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony) there it just no way I'm getting anything other than a PS3. Sony's really stepped up this year, there's so much awesome stuff coming to every aspect of the Sony world, it's gonna be great.

I suspect it was, but not sure. I've been watching everything though GameSpot. I'm just a regular non-paying member but the quality is still awesome. 330kb/s so I could watch it full screen. The audio was good. No lagging, no ad breaks, it rocked.

I agree, basically all of these conferences have been mediocre although I haven't seen Sony's but from what I have read, there hasn't been anything special. Mario Kart Wii was huge though, with online multiplayer, I'm super excited for that. Hopefully over the next two days though more info flows in about everything.

Rock Band is having its own event at 9pm. We will not hear any new songs most likely, but we will get more info. Maybe some gameplay footage and some info on DLC bands...

I think that might be a bit off.. it seems kinda vague everywhere it's been announced but it reads more like there's one Metallica song that ships with the game, but with DLC they'll slowly span all of Metallica's best songs

Read the fine print on the poster again. It says "NO cameras / filming will be allowed during the party". That doesn't mean that you aren't allowed cameras but filming will be allowed (which would make no sense). It means neither cameras nor filming are allowed.

Of course Joystiq got a crappy quality video and some pictures of it anyway.

don't think so :( i personally thought we would actually be getting videos, of the songs and the songs alone, at least 2 or 3 full songs or like 8 2 minutes of the songs. so far, rockbands part in e3 has been a put down for me :( but e3's still going on, so ill guess ill just have to sit and wait.

i sure hope so. and i wanna see a song with really hard drums like drummania can do. i even went in feedback made a custom song....but for drums(yyz, and i used first fret for bass, second for first drum, 3rd for second drum, 4th for 3rd drum, and 5th for the 4th drum)and it was awesome!

I waited for hours to see Rockband on G4. Finally it is time and I am left a little disappointed.

1. Suffragette (city again)
I was really hoping for something besides Welcome to the Jungle or this.

2. They really flubbed it up.
The bass player was killing'em and then when he finally got it the guitarist was losing it. Other 2 though did a bang up job.

Even though I thought this performance was lacking, I am still really jazzed about the game and all of the announcements from E3. ( like Metallica)

Please Harmonix, pretty please, post a video of another song. I want to really see this puppy in action.

PS. I heard there was a video of Mississippi Queen but it is nowhere to be found. I spent hours looking.

It was Main Offender, but Main Offender is The Hives. The Strokes song that is in the game is Reptilia.

I don't mind Suffragette City, in fact I really like that song, but every video but one from E3 has had that song. The only one not to have it was the 360 press conference. I would really love to see how the rest of the songs play out (obviously) but hopefully we start to get a little variety, this is the 3rd of 4th Sufragette City Video.

I don't think that anyone has mentioned this in the E3 news, but on the bottom message-scrolling bar for the E3 G4 press coverage on last night's "episode" they announced that the first full album that will be included for download will be "Who's Next" by The Who, which is unbelievably awesome.

I can't remember who's coverage it was.. 1up's or gamespy's but they said that the guitar is still a bit off at this stage.. that it feels too lightweight and that it's too easy to lose place of your hand on the new ingrained buttons (which i always wondered about).. I just hope these things are being taken into consideration... coz I really want the guitars to play as well as they look

Nope, the only videos that are out show people playing, Suffragette City, Main Offender, Wanted Dead or Alive, and Paranoid.

I really wish there was more variety shown over the course of E3, but 9 times out of 10 they played Suffragette City, great song, but during E3 it was overplayed.

I think The Darkness' song "I believe in a thing called love" is in another game, because he also talks about guitar hero in that sentence, explaining why he isn't afraid of failure. We saw the song list at E3 of playable songs for Rock Band, and The Darkness was not one of them.

I looked it up and it is in Karaoke Revolution Volume 2 from way back in 2004, I don't know if that is what he is talking about or not. Who knows maybe it is in the game, I wouldn't complain, I like that song!

The one on GameSpot kicked ass over that. They played 4 songs, had awesome interviews and showed some character creation.
