View Full Version : Omg, Pick Different Songs People!

I've been playing multiplayer online for a few days now (about 4 hours worth maybe) and think that people SERIOUSLY have no taste in music.

If we have to play Nirvana or Enter Sandman one more time I'm going to kill myself!

I find myself disconnecting right after someone picks a song because its the same thing I just played 10 minutes beforehand. For those of you that play online and pick the same songs, BE MORE DIVERSE! There are more artists/groups out there other than Nirvana and Metallica.

Most Overplayed:
In Bloom
Enter Sandman
Don't Fear the Reaper (shame too because I love to play this song!!)
Say it Ain't So
Creep

Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me? Thanks for reading my rant. :)

I call it the "I Love Rock and Roll" Syndrome. People will gravitate to the songs that are a) easiest and/or b) most recognizable.

Looks like you're in the minority. If everyone wants to pick these songs and you don't like them, it looks like you might be the person that they're questioning the taste of.

There's nothing wrong with the songs you mentioned... But there's nothing wrong with variety either. Haven't done any online play myself... Can't you host a game and control the songs played?

Not being a Nirvana or Metallica fan, that would frustrate me as well. Usually, I jam with people on my FL rather than random people, and we take turns picking songs.

Start your own room so you can pick the songs then....

Yeah I do start up my own but I don't like to be selfish and like to give other people a chance.

And yeah it isn't because I don't LIKE these songs, I'm very open minded when it comes to music. But STOP PICKING THE SAME SONGS OVER AND OVER AGAIN!

Isn't ranked play just random songs? If so, just go with that. That's all I do and I hardly ever play the same song again without a bunch of different ones being played first.

Is there not a random song option? I know there's one for Quickplay, didn't know if there was one for online play.

To Doctorwho:

Hey, personally I'm with you, when I am leading the band I like to mix it up too.

I hate playing the same song over and over again. I remember playing Iron Man 10,000 times because my friends didn't know any of the other songs on the list back in GH.

Yes, there's a random song option (top of the list...let the crowd choose or something like that).

Aside from that, if the other players have their headsets in, ask around, reach some mutually agreeable songs. The other night I had more fun than I ever really had on Rock Band when I found 2 guitarists and a singer that were all talking, and we were all like "Yeah, alright, we can do this one. Can we do that one next?" We played about 25-30 songs, no repeats, and everyone was having a blast. Usually I'm a stickler for points, but I really didn't care that they were messing up on Medium/Heavy, because everyone was enjoying themselves.

What it comes down to is that it's a game. If you don't care to play the songs that happen to be the flavor of the week, my suggestion would be to take a break or come up with your own bands. It's more fun like that anyway.

I think in ranked it just randomly picks the song for you. That is all I play.
My only gripe is that either no one is playing, or matchmaking sucks, becuase I always end up playing the same person 3-4 times in a row.

I feel for ya, that song is great once in a while but it gets old real quick.

Alot of the times I will just go random. Then by no fault of my own play whatever the game gives us. I will actually mix it up though and do alot of the bonus songs.

I've gotten my ass kicked a bunch of times onlne and was wondering how do I host a match? I'm tired of joining other people's matches and having to try and keep up with them on expert, especially on songs like Run To The Hills. I don't quit on them because I figure it's decent practice for me, but, come on!! I like playing, but I'm no expert by any standard. Any help? Thanks in advance. Also, anyone want to play on medium...XBL gamertag is Fisk66.

Would just like to throw this out there...

I've noticed that people do a lot of quitting if they are getting killed...I went up against a guy last night twice in a row, and he quit twice in a row...pissed me off...but, that's not what I to mention...I got into another match with a different player and about a minute in he quit on me...but not 30 seconds later he sent me a voice msg saying sorry and that something came up and he had to cut out all of a sudden. Thought that was a nice jesture.

I'll play with you (or against you) on Medium. That's my preferred level, since I have yet to master the mystical and powerful Orange Button. And I like having fun instead of scrambling to keep up and nearly failing constantly. Gamertag is HeXcoda.

I am getting a little tired of Difficulty Freaks who only like playing the high end stuff, even in band quickplay. Particularly because I prefer vocals and I hate "singing" Run to the Hills... but I gotta echo the earlier sentiment, get a headset, talk to your bandmates. Often you can negotiate something everybody wants. Silence implies whatever the leader wants is OK.

if a guy quits on you simply report it. Eventually it will catch up with him/her.

Happens to me all the time. I just leave negative feedback and as the option I choose "Quit game early."

In the past 2 nights that I've played, I've had at least 15-20 people quit. Gets really frustrating as I still don't think, no matter what the HMX rep has said, that we get credit for a "win" when that happens. Maybe we do, but I haven't noticed my score go up after a quit yet.

My only real objection to people picking Enter, Sandman is that there's painfully little for the vocalist to do. You only sing for about a third of the song, and there aren't even tam/cowbell breaks.

In fact, I'd like band leaders everywhere to consider the vocalist when making choices. Some of these songs either have very little for the vocalist to do or are just plain not fun to sing...

Think the Coheed song is the most overplayed for me. I like the song but it does get a bit old ~_~

Yeah. Definitely avoid picking GGHT when a vocalist is in your band!

Hi, the only way I can figure out how to play online is to create a gig myself, and be the leader. How can I join someone else's gig?
