How to fix a bubbled Rock Band 2 pad in 10 easy steps.
1) Go buy yourself a can of 3M Super 77 Multipurpose Spray Adhesive. I picked this up at a local hardware store. It's a 7oz can that cost me about $10. It's not free, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a new drum kit.
2) Remove the pad. I haven't had to remove the blue or yellow on my drums yet, but to remove the red and green you simply yank them off. There are four rubber stoppers under the pad; one at the top, one at the bottom, one on the left and one on the right. Pry each of these up to get the pad off. Be careful when you pull the last peg out, that you don't yank too hard. The piezo in the middle of the pad is attached to about a 4 inch wire. If you yank this wire, your pad will not work and you will require more than just adhesive to fix it.
3) Remove the gray ring on your pad. This simply comes off when you unscrew the six screws on the back.
4) Completely remove the rubber pad. It will peel off to reveal the foam underneath.
5) Spray both the bottom of the pad, and the foam on the other side with spray adhesive. Make sure to get a nice even coating. I went over both of them twice.
6) Reattach the rubber pad. Carefully center your pad and re-set in on the drum head. Try to get this on the first go, the adhesive is very strong and can rip the foam off the drum if you have to take it back off. I lined up the pad on the top of the drum head and carefully flattened it out onto the head from the top down.
7) Reattach the gray ring. Simply put it back on and put the screws back in.
8) Put the drum pad back in place. Line up the four rubber pegs with the four holes and pop each peg back into place.
9) Turn on Rock Band and enjoy.
10) Enjoy some more.
Use common sense and caution taking apart your kit, and this is probably the best solution you will find.
