I put in my request for a New-ish guitar (we'll see what they send) after my first broke. I took the express option. I did notice on my online credit account that the 100 bucks was on hold. but today its no longer there, i have all my money back. Still no guitar or box yet. Any ideas??? Did i get a free guitar?? (if/when i get it in)

i checked my account and the charge is no longer there either.... hrmm...... maybe that means that they stopped all shipment?

I can only guess that this is because they have no intention of shipping a replacement any time soon. It's not on my statement either.

Heck... I haven't even gotten a box, nor any money taken from my account. I also didn't get any email after I filed my request (thought I read something about getting that)...
this really does look bad on them... I kinda think they really aren't worried though. People still bought them.

wow what a joke... they charge you 100 bucks for a replacement? maybe if they got the les paul issue worked out, they wouldn't need to send so many out right away. i paid a net of 67.50 for my 2nd rb guitar after i sold the rest of the 2nd ps3 bundle on ebay

Why would EA worry? They are most likely (if not) one of the largest distributors of video games for the console world.
They should worry, but they won't. They know this will all blow over eventually if they ignore it long enough and they'll be able to purge the forums and it will all go away.

I think you're on to something there. This is EA we're talking about.

Damn, that could be a bad sign they're delaying sending the replacements.
which will lead to a lot of outrage and really damage the rock band name. ( along with HMX)
let's hope this is not the case.

wow.. and on top of that they arent even canceling orders. like in my case where im just over waiting and dont want the 100$ hanging over my head anymore since christmas is coming around. i called to cancel my order for new drum pads and they said they are no longer canceling orders so i would just have to wait for the drum pads and theres nothing i can do

what? that makes no sense. if they haven't officially charged you they can't deny you a cancellation.

Are you serious? Thanks for saving me the headache of talking to one of their useless customer dis-service reps.

i wouldnt worry about it too much. id think that the removal of the charge is in response to all the people that complained that their funds were tied up. maybe they decided to hold off on any charges until the deadline passes and they did not receive the defective instruments.
then again, it seems the problems are snowballing so we'll see.

well see i dont know if i havent been charged yet. i havent checked to see if the charge has been pending cos its my girlfriends credit card. i just felt bad cos i didnt want this pending charge on her card if its going to take forever to get here. so i took a chance and called thinking i could just cancel weather or not the charge is there or isnt. but they said i couldnt cancel my order. which does make me assume that maybe things are starting to be sent out i dont know

You know what guys? I heard recently that EA themselves are thinking about creating their own Rock Band. If this is true, maybe all these problems are created by EA to make sure that the name "Rock Band" gets dragged in the mud before releasing their own band game.
It IS EA we're talking about.

Have you guys thought about this from the perspective of the initial charge to verify you have the funds available? Once that has been established, they remove it and send you your stuff?

Only if you're wearing a tinfoil hat.
I find this charge being removed odd.
waiting for the reports of the replacement instruments and how well they hold up.

Correct sir.
Otherwise, since when I filled out a replacement request both ONLINE and via phone, there would have been some pause for a credit verification.
Since there WASN'T, I'm sure it was because EA wants to ship ASAP, and they're just taking your word at that second that you're giving them a REAL card and info. Once you've hung up, and they're on thier own time, they most likely place the hold, see that it is indeed a real card, and send the stuff.
Once you're legit, they remove the hold, knowing they can charge you if you fail to return anything.

For what it is worth, I work with RMAs all the time at my job:
When it comes to authorizing your credit card,
You Are Not Charged
It is a temporary hold of funds, which essentially is temporarily held from your Available Balance but not charged to your card.
It disappears by itself after a few days, there is no active "refunding" of the money they did not charge you. It clears up by itself and the funds being available on your credit/debit card again means nothing.
I hope this clears up the matter for everyone.

A company will put a hold charge on your credit/debit card to see if the funds are there and after about 48 hrs the hold will drop off but they have the approval to get the $100.00 anytime up to the next 30 days so you should send the broken items back or you will be charged the $100.00.... This is how all credit/debit card processors work there is no going around it.....
