After seeing how not to rock(http://community.rockband.com/vbforum/showthread.php?t=11263)
I was wondering if anybody has found any YouTube videos with some awesome vocalists? We've mentioned on this board about expert drums and expert guitar but not many expert vocalists.
You can mention your own videos...BUT...you better bring the goods! :)

If I knew how to do it, I'd probably have a dozen vids up. But alas, I don't know how... plus I'm camera shy.

I'm sure he doesn't mean score, but actual ability to sing well. I can get 80+ on Expert and cannot sing for the life of me, that's obtained through cheating the system (do re mi fa so la ti do scale).
I too would really like to see some vids of someone singing well!

I could try to sing well while playing, but I would get a lower score than normal, I'm sure. I can sing well, but I manipulate my voice during gameplay to get the best score. But playing at a lower difficulty helps that =P

Okay, I'll add another qualifier...90% and above on expert. My bandmate (e.g. wife) got 80% on expert on a lot of songs she had never heard before so I take it that 90% would stand as a barometer for someone who's done a bit of practicing and/or has a pretty good voice.

It's not really about the quality of the singer's voice, but their ability to hit the right notes. Otherwise you're right, 90% is very achievable with a little practice, and a good ear.

I can get 5 stars on Flirtin' with Disaster on Expert. I wish I had a camera.

I'd say...fairly Decent...BUT she WAS on medium AND she had the backing vox up a little too high :( I would have loved to hear her without it kind of like the 'How not to rock guy"

I agree
It was really hard to tell just how good she was because of how high the vocals where, but from what I could hear she just sounded ok. Not a great singer, but of course better then alot of people.
Of course people need to remember staying on pitch and sounding good are two different things and can be hard to do together. I have some vocal training myself and I sometimes find it very difficult to find the right octave and pitch and still sound decent. When you are actually doing performance singing you generally get the accompanying music to play in a key that matches your own vocal range and if you have a good accompanist they will even slow down and speed up to match your pace and vocal cues.
Some people also need to hear the melody to pick up the song properly and in some of these songs were all you have is a the recording of someone singing who has a completely different type of voice then you do it can be really hard.
