I am wondering if maybe I'm missing some of the other potential major job search sites while I'm job hunting, I'm currently searching:
Jobs.com
careerlink.com (local IIRC)
careerbuilder.com
monster.com
hotjobs.com
and my local paper's website for any jobs posted in the paper. Anyone have any other suggestions of popular jobs sites that employers may post on? I know this is out in left ballfield, but with 2 months no employment, i'm getting desperate.

You knew more than me. I only knew about Monster and Jobs.com. (Thank you, by the way)

Well I have the employment offices checking my resume with their open positions and positions employers submit to them as openings (or i think that's how it works)

yeah the joblink is the unemployment section - so they're already looking for me on that one.

I think you got them all then. Demand payment for modding.

Yeah the unfortunate part is with USA Jobs, i'm right next to an airforce base , so nearly all of the positions on that site is with them - and they usually require (90% of the time) a Top Secret clearance.

I just realized a political joke in a thread started by the mod who wrote the no politics sticky was probably a bad idea.

Really isnt hard to obtain. Most time employers hiring will front any fees.
And it does look good on a resume! ;)

Try http://www.indeed.com/ this is a site that searches all the web based job banks for you on one easy page. I used it when I got laid off and now that Alesia has been laid off she is also using it. Saves a lot of time.

try checking the employment section of any colleges/university website that are nearby. Also check the employment website for your county. I know where i live, these 2 don't go on job sites and they usually offer GREAT benefits.

I agree with bermuddy. Look at your local colleges, because apparently it's very difficult to get fired from a position at a college.
I did this a few months back when I couldn't stand the world of corporate credit unions anymore. Now I am a supervisor for the IT department of Radiology. My benefits went from $58 a paycheck for my son and myself - medical only - to about $20 for full medical, dental and life insurance.
Also, just yesterday, the FBI announced 850 new job openings across the US, claiming every single FBI office needs something. I applied for a Special Agent a few years back, but only because I thought it would be awesome to be put on an X-Files-esque series of cases.

You should be offered a job quite quickly if what you say you've done is true. Good luck!

You'd think that's true, but i check those 6 or 7 or however many job sites every day at 7pm (gives them enough time to post for the day)... and its been 2 months since I was laid off.
As for the college posts, the colleges post on careerlink.org, atleast Omaha's does as well as the medical school here, and so far, nothing for me.
Thanks for the reference to indeed.com

Also to add, FBI also uses that USAJobs link that someone posted earlier, so I'll be adding that website into my rounds - like i said earlier, so far only airforce base positions posted - and all are either too high for me or require top secret clearance. *sniff*

You can check out craigslist. I've found a couple jobs from there and the one that I currently at full time.

For anyone looking to enter the sports world filled with low-paying positions and long hours, I'd suggest:
www.teamworkonline.com
But typically only us crazies work in sports...

if you are in omaha, then West has about 14 billion call centers out there. not sure what kind of work you are looking for or what kind of pay scale you need... but it would be something until you can find something better... ?
/edit/
im in the same boat you are... been out of work since september :(

From experience, I find the problem with internet sites is that they are too impersonal. The HR/hiring manager is looking at swarms of near-identical resumes with no sense of the individual behind them.
Suggest using these internet sources for leads, but then supplementing the leads with follow-ups such as a faxed resume, phone call (you can call the company switchboard and maneuver to someone in HR), or in-person visit at a job fair.
If an HR manager is looking at 50 identical MS Word resumes, someone who can distinguish themselves with a phone conversation or introductory interview is going to have a decided advantage.
Also helps if you "know people" (tm) or have friends who can give references/recommendations.
Edit: The person above who mentioned West... by reputation they are the toilet of all employers in the area. So much turnover and so proficient at hiring/firing that they treat their employees like cattle.

I'd..... rather work at mcdonalds than West. Ew. I forgot to mention, I do check craigslist, but I've been burned too many times there. 3 times now I've called to verify the position is open and come to find out it was a customer who was burned by them and put the listing on craigslist to get back at the company. The other dozen or so times, it was spam.

The problem with job hunting is you just never know. Alesia was laid off three years ago and it took her a full year to find something else.
I was laid off a month ago and found something already. She and I both have the same MBA, we have lots of experence in finance (she in personal and mine in corporate).
Now, she has lost her job again (just found out Friday) due to the UVEST layoffs... This is her first full week of job search, no luck so far.
Michelle, my sister in law lost her job as a director of HR three months ago, she is having no luck at all. With her experence I thought she would find something quick, but no, she didn't.
So, finding a new job has as much to do with luck as with the skills you have... well, that is not quite true because its the skills that give you the chance to get a job, but you still have to have luck to land that sucker.

Ok I'm officially pissed. The job I was laid off from? Yeah its been reposted on Indeed.com. Apparently, they're hiring for my job back. I emailed my old manager about it and he has "no idea" about that job posting. I'd take my old job back in a heart beat (it was really easy and high pay). AGHTU$*(%&
