So, the Les Paul has faceplates, the Strat has stickers in the store, how can we make our drums more BA (badass)? Anybody got ideas for mods or customizations?

i think stickers/skins are cheesy, but if that's what you like. http://www.digitalcamoskins.com/

Our band is gonna cut a big bass drum like circle out of some sturdy cardboard/foamcore and put our band logo on it and hang it from the front of the set, but not much beyond that.

Awesome! I had that idea too but implementing it without it looking cheesy was a problem of mind.
Can you post pics here when your band does it? Perhaps the RB community can critique it and so we can make a 'definitive RB community model' by putting our heads (no pun) together on input for the design.

I got the new drum skins from the guys at www.ghskinz.com They look really cool and they also hold up well. I practiced a song after I put them on and it doesn't even look like I hit them, check them out.

I also got an Eddie Van Halen skin from them.

The quality is excellent and they look super cool on my stage.

Thanks! I got the mic stand from a local music store for like $15.00 used. My Dad had some spare black spray paint and repainted the bottom of the stand and it's just like new.

I don't understand your setup sharkx. Where do you play, a stripclub? I mean where's your TV? What's the amp for? Do you just go up there and play "air music" and wail on the instruments

I got my mic stand at Guitar Center. I guess the girl working there liked me. She hooked me up with a $39.99 boom arm mic stand for $17.99. You can find them on http://www.musiciansfriend.com. Just like with anything else you get what you pay for. They all look the same but different brands are built better and with better parts. Mine is a ProLine. You can find a cheap one for as little as $15 on there though.
Here is a link to the one I bought: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ProLine-Tripod-Boom-Microphone-Stand?sku=454314

lol..this setup is in my basement that I am finishing. I have a projector mounting in the ceiling and it projects onto a large pull down screen.

The amp is my speaker system for now, the xbox360 audio cables plug into the front of it and this thing is loud! It was made by TAC, the same people that made the flying V's for GH.

at the rock band event from a while ago, we ended up rigging a bunch of guitar amps for sound output since my tv speakers sucked.

How did you build that stage.

I built it out of 2x8's, 3/4 inch plywood, and the carpet is from Lowes. I still need to put the trim around the edges and I also have some rope lighting that needs to be installed.

Wow, those "GH Skinz" are pretty crappy looking. The worst part is that they have their company name plastered all over all of the skins. It looks extremely tacky.

Okay I wrote to GH Skinz regard out glaringly up front their logo was and I promptly got a nice response:
"Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. And yes, anything is possible. We've been throwing around a few ideas involving a similar style to the "remo Pinstripe line" of real drum heads.
Thanks again,
Matt
GHskinz.com"
I think if you "kindly" send them feedback (as we are the consumers here) and voice your concerns, being a small company I'm sure they'll listen to us...just don't be hateful and spam the heck out of them. They have a GREAT idea just needs tinkering.

GHSkinz aside, I meant DIY stuff. Right now, I'm looking into taking the foam rubber and felt dampening system for a test drive.

All of the drum stickers look really bad and many people are into gum rubber/ neoprene/ mutes etc that aren't going to be compatible with anything else that gets stuck on the head.
Has anyone anodized or heck... chromed the metal hardware for the drums? Painted the feet or drumpad body?
