What should I take in college and do I have to live in a place like California to get a job? I'd consider my self imaginative, a good writer, and good at video games. ( It's just about the only thing I'm good at. ) Only educated posts please because a job in videogamea is about the only job I could do without wanting to hang myself at the end of the day.

Obviously engineering or cumputer science studies will help a lot, depending on what type of work you would like to do in the video game industry. Here is a very interesting article I read about becoming a video game desingner, I hope it helps.

Give this a read (http://www.stormthecastle.com/mainpages/videogametutorial/work_in_video_games.htm), might be helpful.

My initial read I thought you mentioned you lived in California, not do you need to. Shame, though, because there's some really good schools and programs here to get you into that, it's basically what all my friends are going for with me being the black sheep and doing something else, yet the best gamer out of the bunch.
The two main things I can think of are Computer Science if you want to do the programming aspect of it, or something similar to Applied Computer Graphics (what it's called here), which would be the character/world design kind of thing, the painters and animators. ACG builds the world and characters, CS makes it move and interact with one another.

Great articles guys. Makes we wonder if I could be something like a voice actor, ( Where I would HAVE to move to Chicago LA or NYC ) or if I could be a writer for videogames like on a website or magaZine. Those would be my ideal jobs ( Idk if I'd really want to move but I have little option ) Although I can work a computer decently, I don't think I'd be experienced enough to be a programmer or designer. I'm completely clueless as to where to start doing some of these things. I watched a YouTube video that said to start off at something like customer service for a videogame company, and move up from there.

I read one for video game testing and that sounds like it'd be a decent start

Well, if you check your Quests/Maps section of the menu you can scroll down a bit and choose "Jobs"
Then you just choose one and you can fast travel there. It's quite simple, really.

I hate to be a spoilsport, but as someone who's worked with voice actors before, I have to tell you that this is a really difficult, small field to get into. It's also a huge gamble, since you're an independent contractor and your income depends on how much work you get.
Unless you have a really remarkable voice and/or a lot of acting talent, I'd recommend you going the Computer Science/programming route. That way you'll have useful skills for a large field of work, even if it's not in the videogame industry.

^ idk I think I have decent vocal talent but...
I'd want to be a writer or tester or voice actor. Just like as I said above, I have no idea why I'd have to / should take in college.

If you're into the voice stuff, perhaps looking into courses in broadcasting.
I concur with Lex that the voice acting field does seem rather difficult to break into, but broadcasting might be a good start and open up other career paths that you hadn't though of before.

Voice stuff, game testing. I'd just want to get a job in something I'd want to do

Good luck with that. Only a small percentage of people actually do what they WANT to do.

It depends what college. If you want to got a Macomb, you don't even have to have a high school dipolma. As long as you're 18+ you can go there.
BTW, I don't have a CAD exam. FTW!
