So what are you favourite films guys? I'm something of a film nut, and spend most of my time watching films or looking up new ones, when I'm not looking for music. Probably my favourite films of all time are, in no particular order:
Battleship Potemkin
The Tracey Fragments
Hard Candy
Ghost World
What Have I Done to Deserve This?

That's a pretty good list, although I don't really like Goodfellas. Nor do I really enjoy Southland Tales, I felt it was too long and rambling, and the director verged heavily into the pedantic.

Danny The Dog

ty, I'm just a big fan of Ray Liotta is why I threw goodfellas on the list, it is a little drawn out, southland tales I dunno just seeing John Lovitz, Cheri Otari and Sarah Michelle Gellar in those roles so different from what they are used to sold me on it.

It's the funniest animated Disney movie ever. Sure Aladain etc were awesome when you were younger, and have nostalgic value now, but Emperors new Groove is legitimately funny.

Hard candy was a great movie. The moment it ended I responded with a "WTF did I just watch?". I like movies that do that for me. I forgot the name of it until I read this thread so now I'm going to find it and watch it again. I kept trying to explain the movie to some of my friends, but you have to see it to understand it. I might check out some of your other favorites as well.
As for my favorites right now:
Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny
Dirty Pictures
Sean of the Dead
Dan in Real Life
This Is Spinal Tap
Fight Club
That Thing You Do!
I'm not very good at remembering movies I like (as previously mentioned), so I don't really keep a favorite list. If you ask me my favorites it usually consists of movies I have recently/semi-recently. I watch the indie and international film channels and I really enjoy a lot of the movies played on there, but I can never remember the names.

The Lack of appreciation of Almost Famous in this thread is depressing. And you people call yourselfs fans of Rock. Greatest movie ever. especially if you have the "Untitled" Bootleg cut (its a real marketed DVD, not an actual illegal bootleg)

I'm a total Ellen Page fanboy, so I really stick all of her films (post-Wilby Wonderful, anything before which doesn't count) as my favourites. I don't think any modern actors have such a consistent record as her, same with Wes Anderson being a driector with a consistent record. I don't really love Tarantino as much as everyone else seems to. His best film was Jackie Brown to me, because I have a huge thing for old Blaxploitation films, his other work seems ok, but relies too much on explosive violence and irregular time flow, which is ok, but it's gotten old.

In no particular order....
Star Wars (original trilogy)
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Halloween (1978)
Bladerunner
Lawrence of Arabia
Pulp Fiction
Fight Club
Raiders of the Lost Ark
E.T.
A Clockwork Orange
Planet of the Apes (1968)
Schindler's List
Munich
Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)
The Thing
That's all for now. I love the art of film and film making. That and music are my favorite art forms. Going by the above list you might say Spielberg and John Carpenter can do no wrong by me, and you'd pretty much be right. :D

Personally the only things by Spielberg I can stand are Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones and funding the Quatsi trilogy. I'm not really a fan of him otherwise.
Blade Runner is the best sci-fi film ever. I get teary every time I hear the Tannhauser Gate speech.

That one is my favorite too. I think Pulp Fiction is his best movie from a film making aspect and I never tire of watching it but Jackie Brown is incredibly under rated IMO.

From a cinematographical view, Pulp Fiction is stronger on camera work, but to me Jackie Brown feel stronger scriptwise, and ahs some brilliant shots, like the introduction.

A wonderful modern film is Wristcutters. In despite of the sensationalist title, it's a really involving and touching story.

Here's some of my favorite films to come to mind, I could do this list so much better, but you have it for now:
Harvey (1950)
Winchester '73 (1950)
The Pink Panther (1963)
Police Story (1985)
Silverado (1985)
The Living Daylights (1987)
Field of Dreams (1989)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
GoldenEye (1995)
The Postman (1997)
The Watcher (2000)
Sin City (2005)
The Departed (2006)
Flyboys (2006)
V for Vendetta (2006)
American Gangster (2007)
Disturbia (2007)
The Dark Knight (2008)
Doomsday (2008)
Eagle Eye (2008)

I'm a big Darren Aronofsky fan, so The Fountain, Pi and Requiem for a Dream would top my list (still waiting for The Wrestler to come out in theaters over here). I also like most of the Coen brothers' films (especially The Big Lebowski). Other than that it's the usual things you'll find on a lot of 'best movies' lists, like Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail, The Shawshank Redemption and A Nightmare Before Christmas.

Monty Python & the Holy Grail is my favorite comedy.
I personally think that Life of Brian is the superior Python film, The Holy Grail is just too open-ended, it flows badly at points.
I saw The Day the Earth Stood still the other week, it was a terrible film.
