Cannot play online at all. (RB2, PS3)

As the title suggests, I cannot play online with rock band 2. When I attempt, the would-be choose your instrument/character screen appears with the normal "press___ to join."

Then when I press the button to join, it makes the confirmation noise, and sometimes the please wait notification pops up for under a second, but does nothing more than that.

I am connected to the internet, as well as the PSN. I have type 2 nat, if that helps.

me too it doesn't work in online mode.
I tried my rock band 1 game and it works.
I think that the rock band 2 server is down for now...

Well if the server is in fact down, I'd think there would (or should) be a notification of that.

I jsut got home nd hvaing the same problem. I tested playing with a offline tour and it worked. Also get the sound like its onnecting but nothing happens. I have never had this problem till tonight. Weird, hope it gets fixed

Well I don't really know. This is my first time playing RB2 online(or at least trying to). I wanted to unlock most if not all of the songs before I tried.

Is the rock band 2 server down for ps3? Please let us know, as I have been trying to connect to friend today with no result but a confirmation sound, and nothing happens. It would be nice if you could let us know if the server is down and when it will be up?

Too bad, at least I also have Guitar Hero WT, and Activisions servers never seem to go down. And they are running all of the GHs, Call of Duties, and 007 Quantum of Solace... Oh well. I hope it's back soon!

I am having the exact same problems as you guys, I try to go online and play World Tour mode and when I go to pick my instrument nothing happens. What the heck is going on?

I am a little relieved to hear that I am not the only one having these issues ... the exact same thing happens for me ... I go to choose character instrument ... get a noise ... sometimes a please wait ... then nothing. Does anyone know yet what the problem is or if it will be resolved anytime soon? I will continue to check back for possible answers.

I know that I have a legitimate online connection ... I downloaded a song from the music store and had no issues ... just with attempting to play online!

It is ridiculous that this would wait until morning. I do development for a service affecting millions of people, and if there were a production issue, you better believe I'd be getting a call, no matter what time it is. Failure to acknowledge a problem to my ***PAYING*** customers (many of which pay hundreds upon hundreds of dollars) would result in my immediate dismissal.

I can guarantee you the 360 isn't having the same problem, otherwise HMXJohnDoe would have been pinged to sign on and acknowledge the problem by now. Someone else did mention Wii but only one compared to the PS3 response.

Could someone take.. my $1000 of money invested in the Rock Band series (I added it up.. burning through a lot of equipment so she can stay in the top 100), and you know, pay some intern a little overtime to, you know.. power cycle the router. Or uh.. flip a switch? I know it's more intricate than that, but guys, come on. It's been HOURS with no response. That's just not very good customer appreciation there.

To everyone waiting for Rock Band 2 to get online, pull out (or rent) Rock Band 1, tweek the config settings for an hour to get the sync right, and kick me an invite.

Well, I am a used to be guitar hero fanboy who crossed paths into the rock band world. I have no regrets, however isnt this a bit unprofessional to not even notifty the community about server downtime? You can't tell me nobody noticed at servers location of the drop of bandwith usage...

Man what's up... just bought RockBand 2 for PS3 a couple of days ago... yesterday and today I've tried to play online OR go the the music store, and none work... so I messed up with my router and PS3 network, or parental settings (because I was getting an error about parental settings when RB2 couldn't connect to music store)... finally got pissed and wanted to write a letter of "WTF is going on" to support and... you know how it gets, they won't let you write to them easily so I ended up in this forum and finally in this thread.

I would like to contribute and say : WHAT THE F*CK what is going on ?? Why no notification??? nothing?? EA should care more about customers... notify us and stuff... because people who lost a couple of hours messing up to solve a problem that doesn't exist (internet connection problem) are likely to get pissed off...

I request 1 MILLION DLC in exchange of this

My nephew got RB2 for his b'day (New Year's Eve) ... and we have been trying to get online for 2 days ~ couldn't figure out if we were doing something wrong. I found this site, and see we're not the only ones with this "issue". (Aaargh)

Well at least I know something is going on and it's not just me. I just sold my RB1 today, but before it went out the door I put the disc in and up came the update notification. The guy who bought it didn't need to see that everything worked, so I took the disc out. After he left I switched my RB2 (PS3) on to play some online matches and that's when I started getting the "please wait" and then back to the selection screen deal. I thought "oh great, I didn't update RB1 and now this." It really sucks that RB hasn't confirmed anything about this yet.

I seem to have fixed my problem by powering off / on my cable modem.

Power cycling router and ps3 had no effect but since doing the cable modem I have had no problems going on-line.
