Put the pads at a height that's easy and comfortable to play at, and Sit up straight. The make sure you watch the drumming tutorial.

It what ever YOU the drummer feel more comfortable playing at. For example I'm most comfortable with the pads a little above my waist and about a foot and a half away from me.

Just figured I would throw in my 2 cents... I am a REAL drummer.
The most important thing is that you are comfortable.
So for the pads try to have them at a height where you can relax your arms and still play, I set up my real kit so that I do not have to extend my arms to much and took the same approach with RB. Make sure that you sit straight up.
As for your legs, I like to have my thigh parallel with the ground.
Do not lift up your foot to play the pedal, because this will tire you out.
Hope this helps...
