I hope the record overall will be decent enough to make up for this; he hasn't had a consistently good record in a good few years....

Straight Outta Lynwood? That was probably his worst record since his debut, Weird Al Yankovic; although both are good.

Well of course, Weird Al hasn't really made a bad record; ever.

it was the first song he has ever parodied while it was still #1 on the billboards. he got it out fast.

Weird Al has lost all appeal since he stopped ripping off songs that were actually good.
All these top 40 rap, hip hop, r'n'b songs suck. It's a pity.

Yeah, I just didn't like the sound of "parodying". I'm not raggin' on the dude at all, I still love his old stuff I just wish he'd do more rock/alt on his new albums.
note: avril lavgenevaine doesn't count

When he does it good, it's hilarious. I think the problem is that a whole album of joke songs can only be so good, ya know?

That song was a hit. He parodies songs that are popular at the time. What's popular now is a lot different than what was popular even 10 years ago.

I've never really cared for his music, but in person he's a very nice guy. I used to see him a lot at the music venues in Hollywood (Whisky a Go-Go, Viper Room, House of Blues, etc.) in attendance at some concert or another. I wasn't anything to him, but after meeting him the first time he always greeted me by name. I introduced many friends who were fans of his music, and he was always very friendly and approachable. I don't know if it's a particular lifestyle choice of his, but I never saw him take a drink of alcohol either.
