guitar effect prompts

I don't know if this is a guitar malfunction or what, but when I'm playing with the standard Fender guitar controller, I get these prompts every few moments. It's a little popup list of the effects that you can supposedly change to with the switch on the guitar. It happens when you're not supposed to be playing anything. It'll happen multiple times during a solo. It seems completely random. What's the problem?

The only time I've had the prompt come up is when you adjust the effects switch. Maybe you are hitting it accidentally. I've done that quite a few times.

...Or it could be activating/changing itself. I've seen another post by someone having that issue. Might keep an eye on it.... and then welcome yourself to the ranks of the Broken Guitar Army.

I'm definitely not moving the switch. And even when I do move it intentionally, it doesn't seem to do anything.

I have the same issue with my guitar. this is my replacement for my original (strum bar issue). I thought it was very strange. It is how blueblur3000 describes. I liken it to the effects switch just popping p to let you know what position you left it in,

I am getting this one replaced also, as the strum bar is only partially functional on this one as well.
