Getting Characters to Stay as Band Members

I made a few extra characters to play in my band with me, and I want them to actually be band members so I can get a picture of them all together on this website. I've gone through and played some songs with all of them, but none of them ever stay as permanent band members except the original character I created. How do I go about accomplishing this?

Thanks. I had gone into there but only saw things to delete characters, so I guess I missed something.
