View Full Version : Regarding the lack of an Official Statement from Harmonix...

Okay, so at this point, it's pretty obvious that everybody and their grandma's equipment is defective... be it a busted strum bar or whammy bar, or a bass pedal snapped in half, or dozens of other problems...
What are everybody's thoughts on Harmonix's apparent silence on this issue thus far? The game's been out a week now, and I haven't heard of ANYBODY getting a flawless package. Literally everyone's instruments are broken. And I find it hard to believe that they weren't aware that they were sending out faulty equipment. Lord knows they had plenty of time to test and perfect it.
So why no official word? Why no apology, at the absolute very least? To me, the lack of coming forth and admitting that you totally @#%ed up, at this point, is an insult. Throw us a bone. Let us know where we stand. If EA is so backed up with tens of thousands of requests for new instruments that we won't get ours for six months, or whatever the case may be, for the love of God, just come out and say it. We gave you a buttload of our money, you owe us that much.
And for the record, I'm fully aware that Harmonix didn't make the instruments. I know it isn't completely their fault. But it's THEIR game, THEIR baby. We're on THEIR website for THEIR game, and we're dissatisfied. THEY owe us an explanation, and they owed it to us a week ago.
Hey Harmonix. Where's my damn new and improved guitar, and when do I get my $100 back?

They knew as evident of the bright pink warranty paper on top when you open your box. Why else would they do that? Nothing I have ever bought comes with a giant warning about returning parts of it if they break. I thought it was common practice to do so not send in for warranty 2 days after opening the box.

Well, I posted a similar topic about the lack of communication and it was almost immediately locked. They don't want us using logic or knowledge of good customer service on this forum. I think they're adding it to the rules.

My instruments have seen about 8 hours of use daily since the game came out and guess what? Everything works flawlessly.....guess you're wrong about EVERYBODY'S stuff being broken. Something tells me that not everyone who has fully functional equipment is frothing at the mouth to get on this board and post "Hey, my stuff isn't broken!! WTF!?!?!"
Granted I know there are problems out there with the instruments, but to come to the conclusion that every single instrument out there is jacked up is just a knee jerk reaction and extremely ridiculous.

My thoughts exactly. not everyone's stuff is broken.

My Strat shipped busted, but being on the PS3 I would have no guitar if I send it in. So, I'm waiting for word on what the deals is the the Les Paul on PS3 before I ship mine. At this rate of communication I'll be played with busted overdrive and lower frets for a while.

Yeah I like how it says on that bright pink paper, "In the unlikely event you do experience problems..." Yeah, I think they knew the equipment wasn't up to par.
I don't like that I shelled out close to $200 for this. And now my debit card has the $100 frozen too. I have zero problems with the game itself, it completely kicks tail.
It's the peripherals I detest, and I want my replacement guitar already. This is ridiculous.

I kinda agree, and this makes the 360 RROD look small time in failure rates and last I heard they were running %30. MS spent a billion fixing that , how much is EA going to pony up to make this right?

These are exactly the kinds of ignorant comments that are of no use to me. You'll be changing your tune when your stuff gives out too.

Next to nothing most likely. When a 360 RRODs it has to be taken apart carefully and all the pieces tested. With these, most of the broken parts are small bits of plastic, not complex stuff like in a 360. Thus, most of it is cheap to replace and doesn't require an expert. So, this should be a lot cheaper and most of those buster guitars will make there way back out into bundles.

My equipment is all working perfectly. It's all seen tons of abuse since release night.
It's not everyone and their grandmother, you just think it is, because you've come to a forum. Forums are the gathering places of the angry, to discuss how angry they are. There is not much else that goes on in a forum. For any game.

My guitar strum stopped working but I fixed it. Now the overdrive switch doesn't work right. I guess it's more realistic now. I really have to rock out to make the overdrive come on. Turn it upside down, shake it, cast a spell. It's metal through and through now.

I dont care if I am the only one with broken equipment the time frame from when i reported it/requested new equipent to when i actually recieve it is unacceptable. It's been 7 days. i have 3 weeks to get it and have it get back to them before they charge me. wish me luck.

first of all you get 60 day warranty.
second of all, if you do have a busted instrument, they send you a new one and THEN you send the busted one back.
third of all, the les paul should work on the ps3.

im feeling the same way you are my guitar broke the same nite i got it at a midnite launch and i love the game i love the drums and i hope they dont break too *prays* and you can tell harmonix loves this game and they want it to be great too, you can get that vibe off any interview or the demo tours.
but they do need to come out and let people know whats up even a very sorry we are aware of the problems and will fix them all even tho they already are fixing them with the replacement plan BUT they need to let us know also if its a new designed guitar cus i havent sent mine in im waiting on forum readers to say if their replacements break too.
on this midnite launch my mom came as well and bought one for my nephew for xmas, im really worried hes gonna have broken stuff inside too after a hour which is kinda butt
and i think this is more widespread then just a couple people coming on the forum and sayin my stuff broke, id even say a good half of all rock bands had 1 item broken inside or broke after couple hours. :(

It doesn't, there are a bunch of threads about that in these very forums chief.

i knew id get a lil flame for that but yea if you look at the inside of the guitar its designed horrible and its only a matter of time till they stop working and look at all the people with broken guitars just go thru the forums and read, and dont say cus theyre playing the game is not why theyre on here.

Well if I can't say that, though it's entirely likely that it's true, and that's almost exactly what happened on the GHIII forums, reading them it sounded like every guitar was defective, when in fact it's a minority.
The other reason they might not be visiting the forum is the amount of superfluous threads dealing with this issue making the forums a chore to sift through.

the game has been out for ONE week, give harmonix a chance here!
granted, my guitar also broke, i'm not worried.. the support so far was very very easy and painless (knock on wood).. the only way i'll get upset is if i don't get the replacement equipment in 28 days and get charged for not sending my broken equipment back in.. but i really hope that won't be a problem..
other than that, i'd just keep having fun with the game and appreciate all they've done for their customers thus far

guitar probs are sposed to be in the tech support forums yet thats all you see in the rock band main forum and of course all over the tech support one.
i will agree maybe not half i would say a good 10% of rock bands right now have probs and later on either a month from now most will fail.
the guitar is not made well, you cant deny that. and im not tryin to hate on this game i LOVE this game. just saying dont write off the problem as a minority even if its only like 10% thats alot of people bummed :(

They should make an announcement considering how many people on the board are having problems with their guitars. I just hope the one i get will last me hundreds of hrs as it should.

Every single one of my friends who's bought Rock Band has now sent away for a replacement guitar.
Normally, if something has a 20-30% failure rate (Xbox 360s, for example), the company in charge will address it and make a strong effort to fix it. I mean, Microsoft might've screwed up, but they've spent millions upon millions upon millions fixing their mistakes.
I would daresay (based totally on the forums, gaming blogs, and my personal experiences) that the failure rate for the Rock Band Strats is higher than 30%. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if the failed Strats were the majority.
Which is fine, but seriously, Harmonix - you need to get your **** together fairly quickly or you're going to have a lot of pissed fans. If people are still having these problems in Q1 2008, you're going to get screwed.

if harmonix released a statement right now, all it could say is "we hear you.. we're working on the issue as we speak"
there's nothing to say right now.. when there's no update on the situation, there's no point in releasing statements.. harmonix is working on replacing the instruments, when they find out officially what's wrong, they'll release an official statement..
its like people get into this frenzied panic when somebody doesn't reassure them it will be ok, regardless if they do anything to actually fix the situation
if you want to hear the reassurance, i'll say it.. people, it'll be ok.. you'll get your guitars in due time.. in the meantime, lets worry about other things like school finals, paying attention to neglected girlfriends who aren't granted permission to play the drums because we don't want them breaking them, NFL playoffs, what you're going to do about the wild coyote that keep circling your grandfather in the middle of the woods, etc
