Which is better in your opinion? Discuss.
In case you didn't know MOP wins in my opinion, even though RIP has some great tracks.

Eh, I went with Master of Puppets. I personally think Holy Wars is the best song on either record, but MOP is better all the way through.
The ironic thing is, I think on both records, the title track is the worst one... of course, that's not exactly a bad thing.

id have to say master of puppets. i consider this to be the greatest metal album of all time, and one of the best albums, period. it's rare that an album has absolutely no weak tracks and no less than stellar moments, but i can say that exactly for master of puppets. rust in peace is great, but i always considered five magics and poison was the cure to be somewhat weaker than the other tracks. holy wars, lucretia, tornado of souls, and all the rest are top notch though (not including dawn patrol).
in short, both titanic metal albums, but id have to give the edge to master of puppets here.

Metallica winning with absolutely no resistance that's odd.

Rust In Peace, but only because i don't find metallica all that interesting. Their lyrics kind of bore me.

They're fine in small doses. I prefer the German Thrash scene to be honest.

Hmmm, Battery and Welcome Home (Sanitarium) are epic. So Master of Puppets.

Kreator, Destruction, and Sodom were all good examples of the German Thrash Scene.

I really really really like Kreator up until 1992. Sodom and Destruction are/were good (I liking Destruction slightly more than Sodom) but I will always hold out for the german speed/power metal explosion. Having said that I do like the bay-area thrash bands.
Having said that I like the musicianship of Rust in Peace much more as far as melodies and instrumentation but prefer the mesh and overall song structure more on Master of Puppets.

I haven't listened to R.I.P. in its entirety yet, so I won't vote.

i'll have to check out those other 2 bands. I'm not very well versed in the german metal scene at all.

Throw in Holy Moses into that bunch as well.

Destruction has this absolutely devastating piece of a track they call "Thrash Attack" on their first album that a local band that we played with used as their opener. We had 11 people in a dood's basement one time all playing the track and the door literally came off its hinges. Great nostalgia factor for me.

oh i know them, but merely because they have a female singer and i discovered them shortly after i discovered Arch Enemy back in the day.

I vote for Rust in Peace. Hanger 18 kicked ass. And how many times do I have to say it; All of Metallica's songs sound the same.

Yeah Hangar 18 is a fave, but Tornado of souls is the best in my opinion.

Both albums represent the pinnacle of their respective band's awesomeness, so I had to go with Rust In Peace, just because I prefer Marty's solos over Kirk's.

Horray! Someone knows who Marty is!
Master of the Puppets??? Last time I check it was called Master of Puppets. Anyway my vote goes to Metallica.

That's what I'm saying.
And god I hate the way he plays though. I mean he kicks ass on guitar, but being a guitarist, I know his way of playing(strumming) is unorthodox as sh**!!! Apparenlty he developed that to optimize his sweeping.

Rust in Peace.
With only 8 tracks on Master of Puppets, they better all rock, but The Thing That Should Not Be just sounds so filler to me. The whole song sounds the exact same from start to finish. Also, while Damage, Inc. is one of my favorites on the album, it takes way too long to start up.
Leper Messiah also fails to stand out at all on the album, it just sort of meshes with the rest, in a bad way. If you get lost while listening to the album, it's easy to completely miss this track.
On Rust in Peace, every track stands out. If you can't tell from the musical composition, you can easily tell by Dave's vocal work. He sounds so different in every single song and really makes it sound like an amazing collection of great songs than an album brought together, which I can respect as a concept revolving around no concept.

Ironically, The Thing that Should not Be and Leper Messiah are my two favorites from the album.

Master Of Puppets, the song, is kinda overrated.
The rest of the album makes it tied for my second favorite (tied with DM), my favorite being AJFA.
Orion, Disposibile Heroes, and Santarium!

I don't find that I like them both as much as other people do. I prefer Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? and ...And Justice For All, to be honest. However, I went with Master of Puppets. I like it better overall.

MOP IMO is probably one of their most overrated records.I liked maybe a couple songs like Damage Inc,Sanitarium ...but nothing i really liked on that album.
RIP gets my vote.Marty's solos really are colorful and really illuminate that gun metal black sound that megadeth solos usually gave off.Tornado of Souls,Lucretia, and Poison was the Cure being some of my personal favorites...but the whole album as a whole I enjoyed alot!

Rust in Peace. Dave Mustaine's genius really shows in Poison Was The Cure and Rust in Peace. Marty's and Dave's solos on that record just melt your face. And it's thrash from beginning to end.
Metallica wins in one respect, for having one of the greatest riffs ever, the bridge to Damage Inc.

RIP was fantastic all the way through.
Take No Prisoners was my fav track
I'll be honest the only kinda eh track was "Dawn Patrol"
But mainly I chose RIP over MoP is cus
I prefer the tones Friedmen and Mustaine use over Kirk and James
Umm Nick Menza > Lars
And I vastly prefer Dave's vocal style it's rougher and more aggresive.
Although MoP had Cliff and Cliff kicks ass
Both were fantastic metal albums though, but I prefer Ride the Lightning to MoP
And RIP and Peace Sells are about equal
