Cross-play?

Is there any news on cross-play between Xbox 360 owners and PS3 users? It most likely wont happen, but I was just wondering.

in order for that to happen, sony and microsoft would actually have to work TOGETHER and make thier online services compatible with one another and be able to communicate with one another.

i've never heard of a game thats online service strecthed beyond one console on the exception of a few select PC/360 titles that use the Live! service

Likely not, because unless HMX decides to shell out for their own dedicated servers, Live and the XFire thing on PS3 are completely separate.
